Ya Sean. I think we’ve got to win the PL while we can. We won’t get another chance
This is why Klopp is leaving IMO.

I understand Nils dislike of City. That’s the issue though, if you say what you feel about the club, the fans on here will feel it’s an attack on them.
I kinda wonder if maybe Klopp has had enough of City. The 115 being constantly talked about as the process drags on might have tipped, him over the edge and made him think about a job in another league.
Him saying he’ll never manage in England again might have been because of City. Could you blame him?anyway, FA Cup, fantastic to see Maidenhead or whatever they are in for the draw later. I hope they get to play away at a massive stadium. Im not sure about how it goes but we played at Anfield just there, so would our next game be away?
I hope we can somehow give those semi-pro lads a trip to Anfield. That would be truly special for them.
I think they had 38 shots for Ipswitch and 2 for them and they scored both. So funny.

Jesus, don’t tell me Klopp is going to Barca.
I just remembered there a few mins ago that Klopp is leaving. It is the worst thing that’s happened to us for as long as I’ve been a fan.
The clubs revenue has already been smashed to pieces, with Spurs catching up with us and other passing us out. The lack of CL football this season will have cratered it too, so will we be able to spend as much as will be needed in order to give the new manager the players that he needs?
If Klopps backroom staff are leaving with him then he already has a job lined up. They wont all be taking a year off. So this Barca news is kinda depressing. Maybe at this stage in his life he just wants a change to a nicer climate, with Barca in need of a rebuild.
Meh. It’;s all bad.

Ya, and I dont think Liverpool could make any kind of claim to be Alonso’s preferred destination, all jobs considered. He was loved here but he’s a Spaniard and would probably have an eye on Madrid and maybe Bayern before Liverpool.
Obviously, we hope otherwise but…
So, Liverpool might already have gone for him.
Like, I wouldn’t be totally shocked to hear that we already had a manager lined up and all but i’s dotted, cause FSG have known for ages but the advantage is gone once this goes public.Alonso refusing to rule a move out is very positive and that makes me think that perhaps that’s lined up.
Let’s hope it doesn’t distract him or his players in this season though, as this is something truly special._____________________________

Who next to go, or to take over at Liverpool?
I hope you mean to go 😛_____________________________

I’m honestly just blown away by this. Truly gutted. This is just how I felt after we lost one of those CL finals. I never get used to that. it’s the same feeling because when it’s fresh, you’re not thinking about the challenge next season. With this news, I don’t see a challenge next season.

Anfield is going to be on fire from here on out.
Ya, Klopp would have left last season only that he wanted his legacy repaired before he called it and fair enough. I hope that FSG tried to offer him short break away from the game, with Linders taking charge for a few matches. I’m sure they did and that he said no.
it’s just that with our rebuild going so well already, could he not have continued it?… well I kinda answered my own question as I wrote it. Some of the core players are another year older and maybe Salah won;t be here for the next leg also.
it’s just too hard to try to take the next steps forward when the squad will be taking a natural step backwards. So maybe he’s making exactly the right call here, in giving us a platform to build on and as a potential legacy sealing end to his time at the club, with a European/PL title win. Obviously, both is possible but let’s not get ridiculous.

Burnt out I guess. There’s no negative-sounding way to give reasons based upon what is going on at City over all these years also, but that has to have played a part in it. Although Klopp very deeply respects Pep, as do I.
People mhad asked about Alnso and I’d knocked those thoughts back because I wanted Klopp to stay for many a year, well now that he’s going, I would like to see where Also goes from here and for us to keep a line open with him.
I really would have preferred to see more seasons out of him as a manager though but we no longer have the time.
~
As for Liverpool going forward… bit of a joke right at the minute._____________________________

I’m shocked.
I had hoped that he would outlast Pep, so we’d get a chance at a few more titles. I am not sure I can see where our trophies are going to come from when he goes.
Klopp goes, Salah goes. That’s it. The jig is up._____________________________

I will say something on Kelleher. I say this as a fellow Corkman, so I want him to be a success more than most, but I don’t think he’s progressing at all.
I wonder if the lack of first-team football is stunting his development.
We haven’t seen as much of him as in previous seasons (I think), or at least it seems that way but when we do see him, I just don’t think he’s quite as good as the keeper who helped us win the cups.I think we’ll sell him at the end of the season but if we don’t then we really have to loan him out to a team that will start him in every league match.
Sean, ya I don’t get the VVD stuff either but it is interesting to hear what I would consider to be kinda “shocking” opinions. I guess maybe we’ve to keep an eye out but in this case, I really don’t think I’m going to suddenly be feeling this nervousness that others are getting from him.
I do subscribe to the idea that our attack isn’t quite right though.
Can I make note of Carraghers insane comment that Jota is the most natural goal scorer that we’ve had in the PL era? I only saw the heading and subheading. I refused to read further out of disgust for such an opinion. I mean, he really is an embarrassment, as a pundit. I haven’t heard Sturridge but I wouldn’t at all be bothered by someone saying the word “gassed”, as it is terminology that is used in fitness. AFAIK it’s most prevalent in boxing/MMA, and maybe Daniel is big into that scene.Jota is a natural goal-scorer and he’s exactly what we need, sometimes. I don’t think his game is well-rounded enough, or that he’s consistent enough to ever be mentioned in the same breath as some of the legends that we’ve had in the PL era. I mean, to say that Jota is a more natural goal scorer than Fowler is nothing short of criminally stupid. He even played with him FFS.
In the summer, I think we’ve got to go and get a world class striker. The lads have until then to show that they are up to it of course. what we need is someone who can reasonably consistently put them away. We create so many chances. We should be doing better with them.
Back to tonight though. We’re through to the final. It wasn’t the greatest match ever but we’re one step closer to another cup. No injuries… all good.

I’ll say it another way, Van Dijk is back to being THE best. His best? That needs the rest fo the seasons to determine, maybe more.
Didnt see the first half, so I didn’t see the mistakes that he made. I don’t agree with people outside of this game though. “Mistake in him” kind of player? No this isn’t what I’d associate with him one bit.
Best defense in the PL without playing at all defensively;ly. That has to come from somewhere.Yes we do still have an issue with goal scoring, even though we score loads but we know the amount of times the ball goes nowhere.

Kane already has 3 league hat tricks. That’s insane.
why on earth would there be return headlines? He’s blowing the Bundesliga away._____________________________

My thoughts exactly Sean. Just hope that Klopp continues to find reasons to stay.
I’m not handing the title to City yet but ya, tempered expectations is healthy.
We have a lot more than those 2 to come back but what on earth is going on with Thiago? This is such an incredibly long injury. Maybe he’s just disillusioned and has checked out? In a weird way, I don’t know if I could blame a man for that, he’d had a torrid time with injuries, especially since he came to Liverpool… and he wasn’t exactly lucky with them before he got here either. It’s late on in his career and he has got to know that were he able to stay fit that we’d never have him out of the first 11, never mind signing players to pretty much replace him, as we have.
He’s such a fantastic player but we have to be able to rely on our best players.
As for Nunez, I’m delighted that he managed to get 2 goals but I think if there is a player that I’m not going to go over-board about ATM it’s him. I think there are tribes in the Amazon rainforest who know how much I rated this guy and I am not entirely given up on him yet (especially after he does this) but he’s got a lot of work ahead of him if he’s going to be a success at this club.
More of this please Mr Nunez. As for everything else, this Liverpool side are in 3rd gear and top of the table. I think Man City are also only in 3rd gear too though. It really is going to be about which team makes it into 5th gear.
I don’t think Arsenal have a snowball’s chance of winning the PL. it will go to either City or Liverpool. I still think City are favourites but not by loads._____________________________

8 minutes stoppage time? wtf are they smoking? Just end the game, nobody wants the extra wear and tear here today.

Ya though. To win 3-0 away to a new and improved Bournemouth whilst missing Treant, Robertson, szoboszlai and Salah!… wow.
I think 3-0 flatters us but that’s what happens when you have a forward who is clinical on the day and although I will have my gripe with Jota, he’s a natural goal scorer and when he’s on form, defences are in trouble.

Great stuff from both Van Dijk and Konate. Let’s just keep a clean sheet now lads!
Wow, well done Jota!. The ball in the build-up from Gravenberg was excellent.

I would much prefer to see players going to a 10 minute sin-bin (with a yellow card) for challenges like what Kluivert did earlier.
As for the rest of the match, I just wanna see us get through it with the win. I think we’re not at our best (we’re missing a few players in fairness). the subs were decent there though, but with the wind, it’s never gonna be a fantastic game. Just get over the line and onward!

ah this is the thread.
Ya on that “red”, I wouldn’t give it but ya, it was more of a red than several of ours this season, including Jones’. It was really close tho… how the ref didn’t give him a yellow and a talking to…

That tackle by Kluivert was nasty. It was more of a red card than several of ours this season but I still wouldn’t give e it TBH… but it wasn’t far off it IMO.
Have a feeling watching this that we are missing maybe 1 too many players ATM. Just gotta get through this and somehow find the 3 points.
