Ya, Jota might be out for months I’d say.
Unrelated but I wouldn’t be shocked if we announced Alonso soon. I think he might want to get it out of the way now and not be upsetting things late on with what would amount to growing talk, when they want to be focused on the title.
I’ll make a soft prediction that it’s announced in the coming 2-3 weeks.

Diaz should have been booked. tiny bit of contact but a ridiculous reaction and he was really out of ideas and looking for it. get this out of the game.
blue card for simulation.

I am glad that there are challenges that involve a little safe physicality but Robertson wasn’t entirely shoulder to shoulder there. That was … That could have been given. I’d like to see us be a bit more careful than that.
what do you lads think about Robertsons challenge, penalty or not?

Nil, don’t forget how truly awful Adrian is.

I think we’ll win but we have a lot going against us.
If we want to keep up with Beverly hills 1150210, we have no choice. The Sky blue oilers are going to beat the taste out of the Chelsea. We’ve been here before. Are we quite ready for the great series of W’s though?
I’m not entirely convinced.
My biggest worry is Kelleher. Fellow corkman, so pray to the atheist gods that his parents gave him a particularly effeminate middle name, hoping that we’ll somehow convince Nunez to hit the ball 6 inches closer to the keeper…

Sean was at the game with his lad? That’s awesome to hear mate!! I was coming on here to day how I had a beaming smile on my face when I saw Nunez’s goal. There was a lot of pent of frustration in that emotive celebration.
The fans went wild because they know he tries so hard and credit to them all for giving him this moment. He knows that we’re behind him when he’s on that pitch.
I say this even though he has been a source of frustration but I get it. I’m just delighted to see the home fans sticking by the man who puts in 100% with every moment he’s out there. I’d be vocal as hell were I at the game and I bet Sean and his son were.
Delighted that ye got to see a nice win Sean. You get to see Klopp managing us for one last time.
I never got to see his team, live and I never will. It’s a shame but that’s the way of it.
Would be great if we got to celebrate a PL title in front of the fans, as Covid kinda spoiled it a bit for us (not much TBH.. I was over the fricken moon).anyway, Man City knocked the ball into our court and we knocked it back. That’s got to be the way for us now. I’m not sure we’ll keep pace with them over the remainder of the season but I have never wanted us to win the PL as much as I do now, perhaps the time that we ran Utd to the end in Rafa’s reign… it’s close.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Van Dijk had a poor game and he has made a mistake here or there this season but generally, he’s been absolutely brilliant.
I have no idea how people are coming to the conclusion that he’s been anything but brilliant this season.
Nobody is using his big injury as an excuse now. that was last season and it wasn’t an e excuse, it was something that people could see was physically a problem for him.Liverpool still have the best defence in the PL and the 3 players most responsible for that in order are Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate. Van Dijk is also one of the most important players on the pitch when it comes to general distribution.
Van Dijk had a bad day here and he also had a bad day there I think 2 games ago. He’s not perfect and ya, I would have complaints about his recent lapses but are we going to suggest that the best don’t have bad days
Who is so much better than him that it’s offensive to suggest that Van Dijk is as good as?
Have they conceded fewer goals? Van Dijk as probably scored as many goals as some of their forwards._____________________________

Ya, no idea why he was … it was a 2nd yellow. Konate needs to not do that if he’s booked, simple.
Let Arsenal have their celebration now. It’s not easy to go to a top teams home and win, but we don’t play arsenal away every week.

Ya for sure. I think we’ve got to get comfortable with it though because we don’t have the luxury of time. I guess from here until the end of the season you might have 1-2 top managers who will be thinking they could leave and come to us but really it’s a bit of a disadvantage when you are choosing when to replace a manager.
If Alonso can keep things going and wins the Bundelige, that will be pretty incredible. What concerns me is how he might look at this team and think that he wants to get it setup like how he has with Leverkusen. That might get awkward.
Ya, I’m really unsure about everything but there’s nothing that can be done about this. I think we’ve got to make the most out of this season and we’ll just have to roll all of the dice this summer.

I do also think there is corruption within PL refereeing this season.

Ya, that wasn’t a penalty. Player isnt at all hampered by whatever contact was there.
This whole thing about VAR not stepping in unless there’s some grand mistake, rather than it just being the wrong result is awful.
If something is or isn’t a red or a penalty, or a goal, should be the sole purpose of VAR. The system probably should have been designed by referees, who really do seem to think that the game is all about them. They are so bloody precious that they are hampering the whole system in order to not hurt their feelings.
It’s a bit like what happens when you allow the police to investigate themselves._____________________________

Not at all meaning to sound like it’s somehow information in the know (it isn’t), but my friend lives in Villarreal and he says that the locals there are under the assumption that Xabi Alonso is going to Liverpool (and not Real).
I find it interesting because usually, they’d be saying the opposite. That town may have a very large stadium for its actual size (ridiculous really) but it’s full of Real supporters.
Are we looking at a very poorly kept/open secret here?

I think Nunez is fit to play, Sean. Nil, we have yet to beat tough opposition this season I think? I mean Chelsea are traditionally one of the big 6 but they currently resemble a big sh*t, so they don’t count.
I disagree with Sean though. This game is as winnable as any other. We just have to hope the lads are on form and that the ref/VAR don’t feel like not giving us obvious penalties etc etc.
I’m predicting a win for the Goodbye tour 😛 Nice one there Chucky, as was the 115 😛 Before this day is done, we’ll be making jokes about a route.

I won’t speak for my homies but I am pleased to see us not sign anyone this January.
I think a few games ago and pre-Klopp news, that might have been different but we appear to have stepped up a gear, Mac Allister is probably laying claim to the 6 role, with some amazing performances and Trent now has probably better backup for other RB role than any other team in the PL. Bradley is a revelation. I can’t believe he’s that good, I really can’t. It’s been a shock.Of course with Klopp leaving, the club have got to put whatever money and room for spending within FFP rules as they can. The new man coming in is going to want to bring in some of his own signings and the ones here are going to have to know that whilst Klopp might be leaving, that the ambition to win remains. So, a big signing or 2?
So ya, I guess this is me signing off of the January transfer thread by saying that I’m very confident in the team that we have. Whether it gets us there or not who knows but I think we’ll be close either way, injuries permitting.

Ya, that’s what I thought. Be interested to see what others say. I think most are gonna say both were penalties alright.
