It really was. Surprised by Salah there. No complaints though for him anyway.

That is a very strong bench, so if things aren’t going our way, we’ve got options.

Losing all that trade is never going to be easy to deal with.
Ya, stop voting in people who are only looking after the 1%. They quite literally killed people by pushing them off of Disability Allowance/Benefit (I don’t know what it’s called there).
These people don’t give a shit about the poor and they will make your life hell just to make a tiny bit more money for themselves. There have to be alternatives. There have to be reasonable people who are capable of government.
More and more, the options just seem to be total nutbags._____________________________

Ah we are meant to actually give a grade, sry.
Grade : B+
I give such a high score because of the table and also because we’re early on in our rebuild and you can’t expect everything to be working perfectly yet.
If we weren’t top and we hadn’t just replaced our entire midfield in the summer, it’d be a C.

Pleased with where we are but the signs that we need to improve further have been there for a while now.
It’s a tough old season for all teams though, so that does give me some comfort but the team have got to try to gel a bit better IMO. The last few games, it feels a bit like we’ve taken a step back in our development but it’s nothing to complain about. The summer business looked like it was going to be the worst we’ve done under Klopp but they turned it around and managed to get some really great players in. They need time to settle in and I still think we might dip back into the market too but we’ll see.
Most of it now is Klopp and Pep getting the team to gel that bit more because we do need to play to a higher tempo. They’ve got us there before though, so I’ve got faith. I just hope that we can kick up a gear before the other teams around us do and that we don’t miss Salah too much.
Quite pleased though, if a bit nervy about the 2nd half of the season.

Ya Nil, it could be a really defining month and more in a potentially negative way than a positive one.
Like, if do really well, it won’t be that defining, because City are going to start sweeping teams aside and they won’t stop. If we struggle without Salah though then our title contention could end this month. As for not having Origi. Good clutch player but not that great as a starter. I think we’re a little spoiled for choice really, as we will have Gakpo and Jota there to come in and as much as I love Origi, Jota is twice the player he was. Origi scored some incredibly important goals but Jota can be trusted to score as a starter. He’s a player who I think is missing something in order to be nailed on as a starter for us full time but a great backup player who I think almost all other teams would only love to have as a squad player.
It’s weird because as I’ve talked about this, I feel less worried now. We’re so spoiled for choice to have Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo and Jota all ready to go when Salah heads off.
I guess it’s just that we’ve seen some of these players struggling for goals recently.
Maybe if we settled down a bit better and started moving the ball around at a higher tempo, these players might find themselves in positions to receive the ball and score?_____________________________

Well, Nil I can only give my own opinion on things but IMO the Tories are only ever working for the betterment of a significant minority. They sold your population down the Brexit path because it benefitted them and their friends, but it took away from the entire country’s economy and I don’t know what you can do about it but get slightly poorer every year.
If there is something to learn from the world over the last decade, it’s how vulnerable we are to mass manipulation. Of course we always were but it’s being exploited more and more.
As for us not having any room for crime, I think we’re too used to being so safe that we don’t realise that this is actually nothing and it might get a lot worse. It isn’t just Brexit though, not even close. I think that’s just a bit of a doubling effect for the UK, because we’re seeing a rise in thieving over here in Ireland also. Things get worrying when the theft is food-related. That’s people struggling to get by. I heard that some food donation charities are struggling because they are inundated with people looking for help.
Ireland is one of the richest countries in the world but the poverty margin is rising in a cost of living crisis, and we’re starting to see that point where people are being pushed over the edge.
I wouldn’t be too worried about workers in Asda, who would get fired if they tried to manhandle a thief anyway. Let Asda handle security, or just let the thief walk out with the goods. There is no in-between there. The thing I’d start to worry about is an escalation as more and more people feel the need to turn to crime in order to feed themselves or their families.
“We do need solutions where the crimes are met with consequences.”
It depends what they are stealing, surely. I don’t think I would want to throw someone in prison for stealing food. That’s me though, I know the law would disagree this me. I’d prefer to look at what’s causing it and maybe try to resolve that, rather than treat the growing symptom inappropriately.but less of that ya football π

“Mak, with regards to that yellow, Iβve seen a hell of a lot βlessβ be given a yellow for tugging back a player on a breakawayβ¦
but I think if the boot was on the other foot, youβd be signing a different tune, especially if Pool dropped 3 points. ”It is possible that I need to take another look at it. The funny thing is we did have the boot on the other foot (if it was a shirt pull that stopped a breakaway), because we had this against someone and he got a 2nd yellow that a reasonable amount of people around were saying wasn’t a yellow. It was though and the ref gave it.
If I can find it, I’ll take another look. I don’t remember thinking it was open of those breakaway fouls but… I could be wrong._____________________________

Nil, it is awful that players houses are being broken into as they play but there’s a simple solution to this. Players and clubs can afford to have people watch their places and it would be nothing to them either. So I’m not interested.
As for more and more people stealing from supermarkets (food). This is not a crime problem. This is a poverty problem, and the solution is not so easy.
As for the title race. I just want us to get through January without falling off. I’m not throwing out the white flag just because Salah is going but our attack is already really struggling, so Klopp has got to find some ways of getting the others to improve or it could be a very bad month or so for us.
We start with Newcastle, our last game before we lose endo and Salah. I hope we don’t enter our tough times on anything but a win. That is what scares me the most.
I guess we’ll play Gakpo there? I don’t actually have a problem with that. He’s not Salah but when he isn’t lamenting life on the ball, he’s actually a very good player and he’s got cannon for a foot.
Chucky, going back to a previous comment about how Liverpool could have had a red card for a possible 2nd yellow. Yep, that’s absolutely true. Could have. Should have tho? I dunno. I think it wouldn’t have been a first yellow card… And hey if I’m wrong, we’ve gotten quite a few going the other way. Is there a team with more red cards than us? All very soft from what I remember. I think maybe except 1? …
I don’t wanna have long talks about how Liverpool are being mistreated etc though. I honestly hope we’ve seen the back of it but it’s the league that’s suffering and I am kinda coming around to the idea that there is FINALLY ACTUAL match-fixing within the PL.
I don’t mean on the “we just lost and I’m upset” way.
This season is definitely different so far IMO. I would have to delve further I to things in order to cement my concerns though and I can’t be arsed ATM.
My position on VAR has not changed. I’m still in favour of it but I want the reffing entity to be changed. I don’t think refs should be flying off to the middle east for paid vacations just before they officiate in matches versus rivals of said state owned clubs tho. That’s a conflict of interest and even if it weren’t, the scheduling issues that those refs encountered was highly unprofessional.
Going to the weekends games, I’m glad I didn’t bet. I’d absolutely have lost on that arsenal match. I see everyone is counting them out (especially their fans) .. look, it’s fair to be upset but the reality is that every league winning team has these kinds of results. Sometimes they cost you 2 points, sometimes 3.
Of Liverpool lose tonight, they’ll be ruled out. If they win they’ll have the ribbons tied on.
It’s just one match in the eye of the storm.Utd… Wtf are they up to? Plain weird.
Garnacho is one hell of a player. I’d base my attack around him, not try to shoehorn him in anywhere._____________________________

Firmino was a massive loss but not this season, the season before.
Besides a spell here or there Firmino was awful last season. His love for the game was gone and it showed in everything that he did.
Where was his pressing game? Nonexistent. So, we miss him now only because it’s more difficult now with the changes that I’ve already spoken of and how Nunez is in horrible form and Jota has been injured and Diaz is off the boil.
I really loved mane and firmino but I don’t think I miss them in the same way that others do. I think what we have can be just as good, but I will admit that recently, my faith is being tested a little bit. My confidence in our front line is not what it was.
I am less worried about a lack of firmino though, than I am about the impending lack of Salah.
That will be devastating.

Ed, ya City will most likely take it. The weird thing is that Liverpool are doing better than they should, but they’ve also had some really crazy ref/VAR stuff that has cost them points. I mean, usually, when you say this it can be kinda subjective or something but it absolutely has.
In other games though, they’ve not played particularly well but still scraped a win. Some say this is the sign of a champion but I say that you can’t rely on this too often. You’ve got to impose yourself on teams most of the time if you want to win titles.
There is the discussion about why they aren’t quite there and I think most of it is down to the team not quite gelling yet. They struggle to play at a high tempo so often and Nunez is both not good enough a finisher ATM and gets caught offfside a frightening amount of times. Because Trent tends to run up through the middle, Salah is not being overlapped and cutting inside as much, and is more isolated out wide.
I don’t think Diaz is playing very well either and it’s been more than enough time since his real-life troubles for him to be back to his best. Klopp further reminding these players that they are fighting for a place in the team, would be a great thing to see.As for City, they will have KDB back at some stage and the PL better prepare themselves for that as best as they can (best of luck:P).
If Klopp can’t get what he needs, there’s always the January market. Maybe we actually need to go and sign a natural goalscorer? I don’t think so on this but I do think we need a top number 6._____________________________

Ah ya that was just never a penalty for City. He has his hands in a natural position considering his movement and it’s absolutely belted at him. There’s no way for him to do a thing about that.
Not sure what refs are at these days but we should be tallying up their mistakes.
I don’t think refereeing in the game has ever been to a poorer standard._____________________________

City losing but they’ll be ahead before 90.
as for the Chelsea match. Amazing to see VAR making calls correctly π It was indeed a penalty for Chelsea.

I saw some of the end of the Utd match. The players seemed to actually care. They were fighting for that win.

Liverpool need to stand up and show that they can beat 12 men. We didn’t do it against Spurs or Arsenal but enough is enough. Come on lads.

This ref has totally given Burnley a shot in the arm with this nonsense. when y ou concede goals and they are then disallowed, its a shot in the arm, especially to the home team.
They are are almost literally playing with 12 men out there._____________________________

Salah is active by existing?
what exactly are the rules there because being alive cant be one of them.
———-
If he was blocking the keeper’s view, fair enough I guess. I still think the first goal was ruled out for absolutely no valid reason. This one, I’m ok to watching again.
