sean, no other team has the transfer budget city have needed to assemble that squad nor the wage budget to maintain it. That pool were only a point behind is a testament to pools recruitment and a great coach. pool cant afford to pay subs 200k/week and so can never have the same options off the bench as city with mahrez, sane etc.

I understand mate, just feel they would have if they could have. Dont agree that not stregthening = weakening, its not logical, and due to the average age of squad, their greater level of experience now and a coach who clearly improves players, this team imo is getting better. I think once fully fit they will be, but that doesnt mean they will improve on 97 points. city may not do that themselves.

like i said stevo, they are destined to do worse than 97 points and winning CL in 99.9% of all parallel universes regardless of whether they added depth to squad in the summer or not. time will tell stevo, but even if they did what you said it is almost certain they would not improve on 97 points and a CL. I am simply trusting pools strategy and decisions over yours because they have been faultless in the market since klopp arrived, and their remarkable achiements last year were achieved because of their great coach and nous in the market, not conventional wisdom.

Ed, I would worry for lamps if we finish below 6th, but our team is a lot weaker without hazard and you bloody well know it! your a utd fan, he was the difference every time we beat you. We were lucky to finish 3rd last year, it was thanks to spurs and arsenal, not in spite of them, and that was with hazard. Lamps has not been able to improve and still dont have one striker that comes close to those at the other top 6 clubs. Spurs, arsenal and utd have strengthened while chelsea have weakened, this is crystal clear to all, lamps has the least pressure of all, if solskjaer or emery finish lower than lamp’s chelsea then either lamps will deserve a knighthood or they will deserve shooting!

mav its speculation, maybe arsenal could afford but didnt see value, maybe they just couldnt afford, the only fact though is that in reality they opted for a cheap 8m short term fix that may not fix anything. I feel for 8m signing luiz is a no brainer, but it is a world apart from the level of business that has been speculated and repeated by yourself.

Pagan I have always thought that the clubs competing in europe should be excluded from league cup, that way no club is involved in more than three comps a season and FA cup would mean a bit more for the top teams as the only domestic cup they can win. Would also make it easier to accommodate a few more fa cup games for the elite clubs in the earlier rounds.

james looked like a good addition against us mav, but dismiss him if you wish.You cant argue that your transfers may not work out here because the same could be said about arsenals signings. only time will tell. and yes you have massive problems moving players on, but that was caused by many bad decisions in previous windows and silly contracts, but that doesnt matter as we are talking about this window. imo the profile of player you have brought in this summer suggests utd have adapted their thinking for the better. Should have signed fernandes too though and I understand if you are underwhelmed.
