I think they will do it this time and tonight is virtually a final for them

When Tielemans scored that worldie to win the FA Cup final I would never have thought that team would be back in championship in a few years. It really seemed as though they were established as a top half team that regularly pushes for European places and had room to grow.

Can’t believe this Leicester team is getting relegated. I mean I can in a way because they have been awful but I still think the players they have should have been good enough to be comfortably mid table or top half.

“Besides, Arteta is an incredibly irritating individual on the sideline so Iβm much more content calling them bottlers whatever anyone else says π”
Of course Ed, and it simultaneously shits on both Arsenal and City so that’s very efficient footie banter π€£ If they weren’t miles ahead of our teams maybe I would join in π

P.s, Ed all the stuff you said re the difficulty increasing as season progressed and pressure grew is spot on. Same applied to city but they are better placed to cope with it and managed it better.
That’s why I look at it as the cream rising to the top rather than arsenal throwing away a title to a team that is on course to record 94 points π

Ed,that they lasted this long before suffering a sustained loss of form is what I find remarkable, not the loss of form itself when it did come
The season is a 38 game marathon and they simply didn’t have the legs to go the distance in the end.

Yeah Sean I didn’t expect them to get 80+ points this season and I would agree odds are against them repeating the total next season for many reasons.
Point is though even if they do repeat it won’t win title. They probably would have needed 95 points to beat city to the title this year.

Agreed Sean and to be fair Arsenal could reach around the 85 point mark again next season but that won’t get you a title against this city side. 95 points is now pretty much what is required to seriously challenge City and it will take a hell of a side to go the distance with them.
Maybe your lot can because you have before, but I can’t see chelsea or utd doing it.

Imo I totally expected arsenal to go through a period of poor form like they just have had at some point this season. It’s usually a lot earlier and if it was the first 7 games of the season that they dropped points but then they got to this stage on this level of points we couldn’t possibly describe it as bottling a title, we would just praise the improvement. Seems rather unfair that the point at which you experience bad form determines how the 38 games as a whole should be judged.

Ed if you think players with no experience of these run ins are going to cope mentally as well as players who won 4 of last 5 seasons, have much better players and a generational manager at peak of his powers, then fair enough.
Call it bottling by all means and we can agree to disagree.

Mikus, pep and klopp raised the bar in my opinion. Takes a lot more points to be champions now with city doing what they have consistently for last 6 years. You think Rogers would have even got close enough to be considered a bottler against pep? I don’t.

“Potential champions donβt throw away two 2 goal leads on the bounce”
That’s meaningless Ed, potential champions I mean, they weren’t good enough end of, why do you demand they should have been and criticise them for falling away at the last stretch? They just weren’t good enough…but still levels above the other 18 teams so again I struggle to find motivation to criticise them when at their lowest point they are still looking down at our teams.
And re the marathon analogy, consider how pep has rotated well right from the start and ensured as many key players are in peak condition for the games that matter and the difference in quality of the squad. Arsenal have had to be at full pelt all season to have their lead as long as they did, in this analogy they didn’t trip they SLOWED DOWN through physical and mental exhaustion and the stronger more experienced runner was able to accelerate.

Mikus, don’t really matter what hand you are looking at imo, improvement is improvement and it can’t be discredited.

Ed, Brighton smashed them today but of all the other points dropped in run in only the draws to Southampton and West ham really let them down imo and while it looks bad I won’t personally look at it as bottling just due to different perspective.
It’s like a marathon runner leading for 80% of the race getting over taken in last stretch by the stronger more experienced runner. Its not bottling its more the strength of competition and the cream rising to the top.
I also think Arteta deserves huge credit, if Poch gets us playing as consistently well as arteta got arsenal playing I would be very happy.
Hope stevo is OK he disappeared after arsenal’s form fell off π maybe he and banjo have done a Thelma and Louise finally, they been teasing it for years π€£

Ed, what you have just described as bottling 2 seasons in a row is actually missing out on top 4 one season then missing out on title. That’s progress imo and I am pretty sure you would defend ten hag in same situation.
Personally I can’t criticise arsenal when only city have bettered them.

Well that’s the title done and dusted. Fair play to arsenal because no one else pushed city.

Paul, haven’t a clue why you would think you are on your own in blaming boehly for chelseas failure this season, its bloody obvious it’s down to boehly and new ownership.
That we got even worse under lamps is a testament to how poor a manager he is but again boehly was the one who decided to downgrade our manager twice in one season.

Nil, hopefully he can change my mind π
Mikus, I agree mate, get us back in top 4 and looking like a team close to challenging, and then if he can’t make that final step, like he couldn’t at spurs, we make another change.
He will have a full pre season and plenty of time on training field next season each week without European competition. Clear minimum target of top 4 in first season.

Yeah Ed it’s just the fan allocation that changes and in the return the majority of crowd will be inter fans
