442, the problem is that when we lose possession we only have jorginho in front of back 4 and just like last year if you beat our front press you are at us, its just as kante isnt fit it is a lot easier to beat our front press, and our defence is very raw and inexperienced without rudiger.
I dont think it is a stupid argument at all to believe that kante should be closer to jorginho when we lose the ball as he is the one and only midfielder chelsea have that can actually defend. Why then is it “stupid” in this case to think it best that the best defensive mid we have actually plays defensive mid? I am not saying he and jorginho need to hold hands and he can never pass the half way line, but surely we need achieve a balance here.
My personal opinion is that our full backs are getting caught out often as they get forward a lot. If we had two players sitting centrally we could protect ourselves more when doing this as one can go wide to cover full back on counters and the other can stay centrally, as it is we are getting pulled all over the place with our outside centre mids and full backs playing so offensively.
If we had fernandinho instead of jorginho, I would totally agree that it is best to allow kante to push right up the field as of course we could rely of fernandinho to stop counter attacks (even if through fouling 🙂 ) but we dont and its about making the most of what we have imo.
We cant keep on needing to score 3 to win a game, lamps needs to tighten up with what we have, if you have any ideas on how to do this other than giving the job to dyche, while simultaneously criticising chelsea fans for their “imminent” turn on lamps, then please let me know.
BTW have you even watched chelsea this year? We played 4231 once against utd, it has been 433 since. Why are you suggesting we ditch a formation we are not even playing?

31st August 2019 at 5:56 pm in reply to: Week 4: Because I\'m still bored (and annoyed about the cricket) #46807Batshuayi can go with my blessing 442, is an awful centre forward and was terrible when he came on imo. His touch is terrible, doesnt hold up the ball, terrible interplay, just bang average. He will score goals at a decent rate for an average team but both Tammy and Giroud are better. I dont believe lamps should have brought bats or young gilmour on today. Nothing against glilmour though, its just we had enough inexperience on the pitch already.
The central defence is a big problem that rudiger only half solves when fit. I have less and less faith in Zouma each week, christensen was dropped today, and that leaves us young tomori who has a lot of potential but is a prem league rookie. We need to set up in a way that protects that back line better, but kante only half solves that when he is fit too because lamps will continue to allow kante to go high up the field leaving jorginho alone in front of our defence.
It has to be 4231 with or without kante imo.

31st August 2019 at 5:25 pm in reply to: Week 4: Because I\'m still bored (and annoyed about the cricket) #46803It is a worrying result today 442 I agree mate.
We put ourselves in a great position half time and throw it away through naivety and I am sad to tend to agree with you, bad game management. On the players side and probably lampards side too.
Finally have a player that looks to be a decent no.9 and we are averaging 2 goals against each game, tammy scored 2 and was unlucky not to get hat trick forcing a very good reaction save, but we shouldnt need him to score 3 to win a game. Gutted with result today. Not as though we played 120 mins against pool 2 days ago is it.

31st August 2019 at 4:02 pm in reply to: Week 4: Because I\'m still bored (and annoyed about the cricket) #46800Barkley was vital in build up to first goal chelsea.man with the back heel, but over all I dont think he is playing that well either, I think mount struggling on left today too and when we have all our wingers fit mount will be central and barkley will be on bench.
Delighted for Tammy mate, goals, hold up play, movement, pressing, he looks the best option we have had since costa and we may finally have a no.9.

31st August 2019 at 1:23 pm in reply to: Week 4: Because I\'m still bored (and annoyed about the cricket) #46795Dont think I have seen anyone argue bissaka is better than walker adlab, but I agree with you all the same. I think defensively bissaka is as good as anyone but great teams need more from a full back and walker is an exceptional offensive full back, one of the best in the world in his position imo. We have similar problem with azpi, as good as any full back defensively but offensively not that great.

31st August 2019 at 12:56 pm in reply to: Week 4: Because I\'m still bored (and annoyed about the cricket) #46791James has been great so far for united, proving himself a great signing. I know there was a lot of doom and gloom after losing home to palace, but from what I have seen united are stronger despite losing herrera and their sub striker, I think bissaka, maguire and james have overall improved united. Might not be by a great deal but is noticeable to myself at least. I suppose the argument united fans would be within their rights to make is that the strengthening hasnt been to the level it should have been and I wont argue with that.

Causing utd some problems but if its one thing utd can do well its get behind and I think they will catch southampton a few times before the end of the game

Yeah I remember the manager Kean comparing him to Terry, think he even said was better, utd obviously believed him, silly sods 🙂 To be fair while I dont think he is an elite defender, he is better than he gets credit for.

No need to defend your posts on this nine, they are without question fair and considerate.
I cant think how anyone could disagree that watching your team play from the stands is a much better way to enjoy and support your club than watching on TV. It is clear as day, thats how football began and grew and that was initially why it became the biggest sport in the world.
Now for many reasons that we have discussed very sensibly, many clubs have a disproportionate number of fans and for many reasons, some financial, some geographical, and also that the stadiums have limited capacities, the majority of fans will not be able to watch the games live. Thats just the state of things, but does nothing to take away from nine’s opinion that it is still better if you are at the ground. That will always be true.
I also agree that ideally those who have a local club in the football league support them and not a more successful club miles away, that would obviously be better for the game as a whole. That is just idealism, doesnt mean someone who truly loves a non local club is not a true fan of the club, shouldnt cause any upset because its a very reasonable position to take in the context of ideals.
