Getting a new manager was not optional for the club but necessary, as Sarri wanted out. Some might say its the chelsea fans that made his mind up for him, they can believe that if they want, but I feel the transfer ban and Juve calling was enough motivation for sarri to want out.
As for a top class replacement, I am not sure how many would have been attracted to the job at this time given the circumstances. The club needed someone who understood the importance of maximising the youth products we have and the moment lamps was in the mix in just seemed right.
I too posted that I would go for Rafa before lamps was appointed. But I dont really think we would have had a chance at top ready made coach outside of that due to the circumstances.

on current form we wont finish top 6, you dont need to argue that or point it out its obvious. If you dont think it will get better defensively fine, I think it will, but neither of us can be sure until we have seen a lot more games.

Manager A) signs for Chelsea with a team capable of comfortably finishing top 4 and a hefty transfer budget to start the season
Manager B) signs for Chelsea with a team that is odds on for top 6 but not capable of comfortably finishing top 4 and full of inexperience. On top of this manager B has no opportunity to strengthen in the market.
Does manager B deserve more time and patience than manager A? Of course he does, it is only logical and to deny it is absurd.
Manager A describes every manager Chelsea have had since roman bought the club up to and including Sarri.
Manager B describes Lampard.

Can someone help me figure out how Lamps is supposed to know the best system and players for us without playing any competitive games and trying things out? He has had 6 prem games so far, that’s why this is a silly debate.

Steveo, no one is denying anyone of having the opinion that Chelsea’s defence has been poor over the first 6 games, that would be silly as the defence has evidently been poor. Its not really worth discussing the obvious in great length though is it?
The argument is actually whether 6 games is anywhere near enough time to make any real judgements, and given the circumstances I think it is far from enough time to do so with Lamps.

A fan is worried about his clubs defensive frailties, is that wrong, 6 games or not?
Not at all Stevo, the defence has been really poor, but the point is how can you really make a judgement with conviction until lamps has had the privilege of selecting the same defence week in week out with his best defender and best midfielder available? More over our defence wasnt that great last year under sarri either conceding over a goal per game and we simply do not have the class of defenders at the club as we did in years gone by, that should be obvious to chelsea fans at least if not all prem fans.

Mav, that may be the case whether he wins anything or not, might be the case already.
I have never believed Poch could win a league or champs league at spurs, and so not winning one of them should not be held against him. However I really don’t understand how he can not value the FA cup or League cup, he has openly talked about how worthless they are but as a fan that is bound to sting because they are obtainable trophies that would mean a great deal to spurs fans I am sure.

The form is really bad Mav, I might be wrong here but if I was in Poch’s position I think I would have every motivation to make it clear to everyone that you either shape up or you will be replaced. What has he got to lose? I am sure if a little encouragement is all that was needed we wouldnt be having this conversation, because the quality is there to be performing much better than this no doubt.

I think it is just an example of the problem with organisations like Kick It Out. They are necessary social organisations that are founded on very sound intentions, but as soon as the money and funding comes in there is an incentive to find as many examples of racism as possible as a way to justify its continued existence and need for funding.
I would hope Kick It Out can recognise this because if they continue to take stances like this over silly incidents they are going to ruin their own reputation, and that would be a very bad thing imo as in principle the organisation is a positive force.

Mav, I would think it would be more worrying if there was no talk of buying in January, the squad needs hungry committed players and without even selling anyone except trippier the numbers in that regard have reduced at spurs because players are looking elsewhere it seems. As long as Poch doesnt start doing that too I think spurs will be fine in the long run.
