I am uneasy with it too, but in principle would we all agree that if the prem are to be held responsible for the survival of English football and the government wash their hands then don’t the prem deserve increased controls over the organisations they are guaranteeing? I think this is too much of a grab and will be rejected though.

442, I expected no real help from prem what so ever, was literally just reacting to the financial measures outlined above. Like mikus said the adjustments to loan system is one example of a change that could benefit the bigger clubs more, as will 18 team prem league and no league Cup. In short, no mate, I am not so naive to think that the powerful clubs wouldnt look to take advantage of this crisis and only help the smaller clubs as much as it helps themselves.

I know chelsea will be happy with new loan rules mikus 🙂

I wouldnt miss league Cup to be fair and 18 team prem along with this would improve the standard of footie and improve our teams in European comps.

It is good that the Prem are trying to help the game survive at lower levels.

If it was 15 quid for a weekend pass which allowed you to watch the 5/6 games that weren’t already scheduled for broadcast on bt or sky I think that would be OK. All the PL will achieve with this is cancelled subscriptions and increased piracy. At least when you could see all the games via subscription the advertisers were assured of audience levels, can’t quantify those watching illegally and can’t earn from it as consequence.

Pagan was right from the start Brian, as soon as VAR was introduced every rule of the game will be meddled with in order to make everything as black and white as possible so that VAR can be decisive, thats why intent has been removed from the equation as it is rarely black and white.

I think we may actually see a U turn on this one though and only hand balls denying goal scoring opportunities or directly leading to goals will be ruled on by VAR, the rest will be ruled on by match official as before. Hopefully we will because this really is a nonsense isnt it.
