Sean, no moral high ground but if chelsea hadn’t pulled out we would still be looking at the footie apocalypse, sooner pool do same the better, but its the owners not the club or fans mate so like I said no moral high ground

This was inevitable though, remember conversations years ago between us regards a super league
Sky/BT and UEFA are just redundant middle men as far as the top clubs are concerned
Why settle for what UEFA agree when you could broadcast the games yourself, what use is UEFA if you can fund and organise the competition yourself?
The sad thing is none if this actually addresses the underlying causes of financial instability, which is simply the amount of money being paid to players and agents, that will only get worse

Wouldn’t put it past Jose to use ESL as excuse to leave on morale high ground
Likely to be coincidental though as it was only a matter of time
Looks like levy didn’t want Jose getting a trophy in cabinet before he left! Why would he thats not what spurs are about!

Don’t know what to think of all this
First thing I can say is as long as the ESL proposals are anti competition I am anti ESL
Not in principle against change to champions league. We have to remember UEFA earn a shit load from this competition and many of the clubs involved are in the red, year in year out
The CL is worth what it is on global stage because of the elite players that take part. These elite players cost elite money and the clubs that pay that money and create the value for UEFA do deserve a greater slice of the pie I have no argument against that at all.
Hope we see a compromise, disgusting

Brian you are right city weren’t good but to he fair chelsea didn’t let them play either. I think chelsea will give city a game whatever your eleven is.

Brian I do agree with that, at least in that once a manager agrees a job he can’t then bemoan the lack of quality publicly, he should just concentrate on getting the best out of them. Maybe throwing them under the bus every time he fails to park it properly is not the best way of getting the best out of his squad

Nine, still remember when my local woolworths closed, beginning of the end for my local high Street
It’s a cheap furniture shop now and so poorly maintained you can still see the woolworths sign underneath the old shop front
Greggs the only survivor but proud to have played my part in keeping them going 🙂

To be fair a lot of this is just bs to inflate his market value anyway
Wouldn’t be surprised if some clubs claiming an interest are only doing so to inflate his price so much this summer that no competitor can actually afford him and he ends up staying one more year at dortmund until his release clause becomes active. No way in hell are barca, real, psg or Munich going to buy him this summer. Its city this summer or real/barca next summer, the rest is bs invented either as click bait or put out by rivals to distort the market

It’s not just about on the field value though Ed.
Messi and CR7 are commercial brands in their own right with huge value based on over a decade if remarkable performances. Haaland can not be paid ghe same he is already well known and has substantial commercial value, but doesn’t compare to messi or Ronaldo
Mbappe a little different ad he is a world cup winner already and certainly higher commercial value than haaland

150m transfer fee and 400k per week, those figures still mental but given the market I would pay that
No more than that though

How many of those contracts were signed pre covid and how many of the players earning that money are 20yrs old?
I know how ridiculous the money is at top of the game but 1m per week for a 20yr old is mental
Rather chelsea stay well clear if that’s what he wants, let real or barca crack on I say, we beat them with messi at his best we can beat them with haaland too

Mikus, lot of truth there but when spurs were flying playing that way earlier this year kane and son were smiling no problems
If Jose had the squad to play the way he wants they would be winning and consequently happy
But there lies the problem, he is not playing to his squads strengths by sitting deep and encouraging the opposition to dominate the ball and get players forward. In fact he is playing to their weakness as if they are unable to sit back and hold on to leads why are they not instead going for goal number 2 and playing a more aggressive game?
I think shiney was spot on with that

Shiney I think you are right mate, not that you would need my agreement as they are your team.
I think levy thought we almost won CL with this squad so instead of backing the guy who got me there with investment in squad to go step further, he decided Jose could come in and make that difference himself without major investment to squad
I don’t think levy, or myself for that matter, really understood how much the team was on the slide. Poch knew and couldn’t fix it by magic, key players getting old or moving on, replace them with top players or regression is inevitable
