Getting to champs league final really buggered things up for spurs, expectations went through the roof just as the current team that poch had built reached its peak and started to decline. They just have not recruited well enough over last 3/4 years

They not far off from where they were when poch first went there.

Rice seems to be on the cards again Nine. Would love to see him alongside kante, give so much balance to the team and could also maybe allow for back 4 at times to have extra body forward against the very deep teams.

Haaland, As unlikely as it is that he signs for Chelsea, it seems that if he were to move this summer we are the only serious option. Munich or barca can not afford. Madrid hell bent on mbappe. Would city go all out? As unlikely as it is I really hope we make some sort of official bid for him

Lukaku, well I can imagine he would be happy to stay but he said what he said comfortably in the knowledge that should a top club come calling with a good bid then Inter will ask lukaku to leave and he will have stayed loyal himself. This way if no one comes in for him he maintains his bond with team mates and fans. If tuchel and roman want Lukaku as much as 80m then Lukaku will be a chelsea player next year imo.

Kane, NO chance in hell!

I have always liked belotti and would love to have him in the squad, ings and moreno good players to have in squad too, but really hoping for a monster of a no.9. Obviously Haaland is the dream signing.

Nine I won’t believe conte to spurs until I see it. Like you I feel it is a marriage made in hell if it happens because all evidence to date under levy suggests conte will not get anywhere near what is required to compete, and if conte can’t compete conte will go crazy, as sure as night turns to day.

Give him a top starting 11 and allow him to dismiss the euro conference league though and he can certainly get spurs top 4 if they have a good eleven that can play week in week out. They will be a nightmare to play under conte that’s for sure.

Nil, I know we try to convince ourselves we will see a real title fight each season and many a season get let down, but I think city, pool and Chelsea are all primed to give it real go. I ould still have city as favourites because they are the most consistent team at breaking down low block lower table teams, but in pool and Chelsea I think they have some serious competition next year. Well here is hoping anyway 🙂

Ed, We all in agreement here, with the squad we have we should be challenging next year. For me that means circa 90 points after 38 games. 80 or less would certainly represent failure next season for any manager given the squad chelsea have assembled plus the backing tuchel is sure to get this summer.

Ed, come on mate I am not trying to prove existence of dark matter here, just that pretty much all metrics indicate chelsea are moving quickly in the right direction towards a title challenge.

Sure extrapolating like that doesn’t create accurate predictions you honestly don’t need to convince me of that, but it is far from meaningless information and shouldn’t be so easily dismissed as new manager bounce.

We should be challenging for the title next year and everything the club does indicates that being champions is their only goal. If tuchel fails bye bye tuchel and on to next. Ole got his new contract yet? 🙂

Brian, if you look at points per game since tuchel took over and project over 38 games we woyld have 80 points. Now you can brand us totally defensive if you want but it is ignorant of the reality and a little bit condescending. if you have watched us in games we have played against teams other than City you will clearly see we dominate possession and create a ton of chances. It is taking those chances that is the problem. If we improve that this summer the projected 80 could become 90, then we have a title challenge.

The challenge for chelsea now is consistently breaking down teams and taking our chances over 38 prem games. City do that best which is why they are champs.

However, head to head chelsea are currently better and 3 wins from last 3 suggests if chelsea played city every week we would be champions 😀

Brian, commiserations mate

I remember a few months ago saying you wouldn’t want us in final as we would break your hearts as utd did to us

I am no psychic of course and as coincidence has it, it has panned out that way.

I will let you in on a little secret, just in case you didn’t know, the best team in eaurope seldom wins the champs league. Chelsea were best team in Europe 2004 to 2006 and circumstance always conspired against us. We were better than utd when they beat us. When we actually won it we were no where near the level of our previous teams that came so close.

It will come for City for you will not be denied, as we were not.
