Regards wages structure Alfie, don’t worry about it, that’s one thing we defo getting right as all the newer players are on lower wages than you would think and all have seen decreases in salary this year due to failure to qualify for champs league as per their contracts. The clauses for increases are all tied to on field success and commercial growth.

Alfie, it ain’t no trick, it’s a risk any club can take.
And yes, I heard there was to be some sort of arbitrary cap imposed to contract lengths too, for protection of owners like glazers and FSG no doubt. However if rumours of caicedo agreeing 8 yeardeal plus option for extra year are true, then it doesn’t seem to have been imposed as of yet?

Some of the players may prove good value, but many won’t. We are likely to be forced to sell one of the players that worked each summer to continue to cover the costs of those that fail π
We will need to sell well every year.
Thanks to utd, arsenal and city we have drawn down 150m against this years losses. The billion spent over 8 years means we should be covered for this year, but this will be a yearly struggle now.

Lads, all of this expenditure will need to be accounted for over the duration of the contracts by income of the club.
Everyone understandably pissed off with it but Chelsea will get well and truly reprimanded if it don’t add up.
Don’t compare city and chelsea here, its apples and oranges in that we don’t, as of yet, have artificial commercial income to offset it and hide behind. It will be clear as day.
I worry we breach and you can go back to my posts last summer to see that a breach of FFP has been one of my concerns for last 12 months.
Any club can go push their accounts to max like this but its scary to me because our accounts for next 8 years are now tied up pretty much.
People need to be thinking about how this is accounted for to understand. For example we have sold Mason Mount for 55m and all 55m will be drawn down against the books for this season, along with his wages due this year…however if we buy a player for 55m on 8 year contract only 7m goes against the clubs accounts for thar year plus the years wages..that’s it. However that 7m plus wages is also on the account/due for the next 7 years too.
As I see it, chelsea are talking enormous risk. If it doesn’t pay off, you can just sit back and enjoy π

Thats correct Sean. I know what 999 would say; “until it’s on the chelsea website it’s not a done deal” π

Ally, I am truly sorry to see him go mate. The prem has lost one hell of a player.

I can only hope they prove us wrong sooner rather than later but it seems clear to all of us that Chelsea are wasting a hell of a lot of money and that as this money needs to be accounted for against the clubs income it will cripple us for years unless most of the players bought can prove to be top players.

“Chelsea have spent 860m in a year and we are talking about them not even being in the top four? Crazy stuff`”
Yeah it is when you look at it like that, all that money and yet the squad looks weaker. There is good reason chelsea are 6th faves for top 4 though ie its not crazy at all to predict chelsea finish outside top 4 all considered.

I am never usually so confident but I can say for sure chelsea will finish 2nd….to 10th. Would be amazed to be wrong.
I can see a possibility of city struggling to maintain the same level this season and so there is an opportunity for the likes of arsenal and pool to challenge but outside of them I don’t see a challenge.
Utd and Newcastle to battle it out for final top 4 place with chelsea a decent outside bet but odds against nonetheless.

Glorified friendly adlab and we know this game traditionally counts for little regards what is to come in the season ahead.
Always nice to win but you are right in that if the penalty shoot out went the other way the narrative would flip 180 degrees and all they are going on is the result of the shoot out π

Mikus , I think it will lead to more goals and will punish teams for sitting back on one goal leads because odds are relatively high that something will go the attacking teams way at some point if we are going to see most games go far beyond 100 mins.

Lads we need to get used to this amount of injury time btw, it will be the norm in prem games too.

It may have something to do with an apparent law of the universe adlab, in which whoever plays DM for City always gets one professional foul free of charge π
