We could be defending in back 4 too but looking at the team I think we are right to expect some sort of 343 with chilwell and James as wing backs

I was expecting back 4 also.

Yeah but spurs would have had a bucket load of cash for him if he did. I don’t think he would have wanted to leave spurs for another prem club on a free but that’s just my gut feeling.

Mikus, I don’t think he wanted to move to another prem club for free mate. He does love spurs, would have left years ago if he didn’t.

P.s Alfie, contracts may not be able to amortised over terms greater than 5 years now and will accept that. But the basic principles are still the same, in that you can’t look at a billion pounds spend and 200m incoming as an 800m loss within the year, when the outgoings are in fact amortised over a longer period.
In this example 1bn over 5 years would be 200m per year to be covered as opposed to say 150m per year if it was spread over 8.Chelsea need to generate enough each year to cover that years amortised outgoings , that’s all I was saying and the principle is right.

Alfie, I am sure I am wrong or ill informed regards plenty of regulations mate, that’s no drama.
I just hope my clubs understanding of it all is a lot sharper than my own 😆 I have been aware we are talking huge risks since the first spending spree last summer and am continuously anxious we will cross the line and breach.
If we break rules other clubs are abiding by we will deserve all we get mate.

Sean, let’s be on the level mate, we have known from the start that FFP was not about creating a level playing field. By its nature it was to re enforce the hierarchy/status quo.
Let’s not be surprised that it hasn’t led to equal playing field when that was clearly never the purpose.

No Alfie that’s fine mate, if you are just concerned for chelsea messing up then no worries 👍

Sean, it’s not harsh it’s spot on. I will accept complaints from 99.9% of clubs but utd have no right to play victim when they have the resource to out compete chelsea at every level. Chelsea’s owners aren’t the problem for utd fans, it’s utds owners and as you say even utd fans will admit that.
Chelsea will suffer the consequences of our poor decisions.
I think the worry for other owners is if the strategy works though.
As a fan I am demanding my club walks a fine line, investing everything we possibly can but without making mistakes and breaching FFP or PL rules. I have no genuine idea of which side we are currently leading towards but of course I am fearing the worst.

Just to make my position clear, rules are rules. Clubs like Everton are crippled by FFP rules and so if any club breaches these rules to gain unfair advantage, or lies to get around them, they deserve severe sanction.
If chelsea break any rules you will not hear any whataboutery from me or any pathetic sophist arguments to justify it.
All that said, utd fans complaining about other ownership models and questioning how you can compete is laughable. Utd have far more resource than chelsea, and, if they weren’t owned by parasites who take money out of a club they haven’t even paid for and, instead, spent the resource wisely, chelsea would not be a concern of yours.

Yeah infinite athlete or something like that they are called.
Also re the max term of amortisation if this is now the rules, this is now the rules. Seems arbitrary though and seem to be a rule for protection of parasites such as utds owners imo

One thing I do wonder about is our lack of shirt sponsor at this stage….maybe we are waiting to see how much we need to bring in in sponsorship to balance books before we magically agree contract for the required amount? Just speculation.

You would have to take same risks Sean, I think that’s why other owners are so pissed.

Best place for him imo. Supremely talented but I have never liked him and always dreaded chelsea bringing him in whenever rumours circulated.

I know you pool lads are worried about your midfield but take a look at ours too, despite all the madness 🤣
The bridge will see some goals today I just think sadly most will go to pool!
