All can be reduced to numbers Brian its just about whether we can do anything with it or not

Hi plastic allergy, very flattered you would sign up just to post to me and nine! Well I would be if it wasn’t for the fact I believe you are a current poster who has created a new account just to say that!

Tuchel and the lads must be buzzing at the opportunities they have this year nine. Could see at anfield the mentality and belief is there.
World club Cup for me too mate would love it, I know most footie fans around the world don’t actually care for it but it is history to be made for us and would love to see chelseas name on the trophy alongside utd, real, barca, pool, both the Italian and Brazilian inters have won it too. Corinthians and Sao Paulo also past winners. All these teams are giants so it’s good company to be keeping if we can do it.

So with regards the season ahead it is looking to be rather exciting don’t you think? 🙂 Premier league, fa Cup, league Cup, champs league and World championship to play for with european super Cup in the bag already.
As for expectations, for me the world club Cup and 80 plus points in league I would be delighted.
Regards the other competitions I am always satisfied with getting to knock out stages in champs league as easy to go out from round 16 on, fa Cup would be nice as lost two finals lately,
Oh and of course like every one else I only care about league Cup if we win it! Otherwise it doesn’t matter really does it 😉

Pagan, I think we saw on weekend, an unfortunate red card doesn’t guarantee the other side a victory, still has to he earned.

Moos I think confusion over that rule severely added to the emotions on Saturday, certainly for myself as I wasn’t expecting the red.
I think it’s all irrelevant when it’s on the line mate, if ball is prevented from crossing line by hand it’s pen and red.
Like I said earlier though in these circumstances I think justice would be to award the goal and carry on 11 v 11

Sean honest mate he ran over to screen as replay showed ball touching arm and it froze at the point ref got to monitor, he looked no more than 2 seconds ran straight to James and gave red. He did not see the ball being struck by pool player and then bouncing off James knee or any kind of replay, it was almost exactly as Nine says in effect a still image. MOTD be on iplayer still mate you said he looked 10 seconds but your memory is wrong. Check it mate at 19 mins and 53 secs he gets to monitor, at 19 mins and 54 secs he is on his way to James issuing red.

P.s pagan
That would only work if the only thing that prevents the ball going in goal is a hand though I suppose. General shots on goal blocked with hand in box would have to be different as only a chance of a goal is denied there so a penalty, an award of a clear chance on goal, would be justice in that scenario.

I thought maybe change it so just pen and no red pagan but that’s not justice then because the aggrieved team lost a certain goal and instead now have to take a penalty to get what they deserved anyway.
Maybe if hand stops ball on line we just give the goal with no pen required and no cards given?

1st September 2021 at 8:05 pm in reply to: Forget Expected Goals, How About Expected Threat?! 😀 #184235Lol Brian I didn’t get the utility of it myself. I mean expected goals I get we just assign values to different types of chances and get a measure of the quality and quantity of chances created. But that is of course not just secondary but irrelevant compared to the goals actually scored, expected threat is an even more detached analysis than that.
Any way, if there any value in the data I am glad we have kept Callum Hudson-Odoi at chelsea because he us our highest player on list.

Yeah nine I was as fuming as the players mate and of course that’s how pretty much every team would have reacted but it’s not necessary and doesn’t achieve anything positive. It is a good job it happened just before half time because it gave the players chance to compose themselves and attitude was spot on second half.

This is warranted imo, as pissed off as the players were and as quickly as the ref reviewed the footage its all irrelevant, it does us no good reacting like this and we need to take this on board.
Our reaction after half time is what we want to see, don’t cry over spilled milk just compose ourselves and make the best of what we can.
