I’m talking about their records for England Sean, which could be up for debate tbh. Capello on paper is far superior to all of them and was dog shit for England.

Ed – can you honestly say Lampards is not up there with the names you mentioned (I do have high hopes for Stevie). I’m not going to bang the drum any longer, but it really isnt as outlandish as being made out when the alterntive suggestions are Dean Smith, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe ffs.

sean – El Tel is a prat, and is only remembered fondly because he had Gazza. Hoddle was unlucky with Becks’ red card but also didn’t do anything with England. What measure are you using to say they were better than Southgate?

Re Lampard, if there is a superior English Manager who should be next in line, I’m all ears fellas. I don’t seem to hold the job in the same esteem the rest of you do. The best managers in world football don’t want to manage national teams. Name one country that has what you would call one of the world’s best managers in charge.

Fair point Mikus, re culture change. I think there is far more team spirit in the national team than ever before, and we’re seeing fruition of that on the pitch. A lack of club egos clashing is a step in the right direction, with the only real ego in the squad being that of Kane, given his status probably not a bad thing.

I won’t ever say it’s coming home again, until it’s in the bloody bag and on the contents insurance, but I do have a good feeling about this team.

Lampard is my pick for next man in charge 9. Though I think his heart is in club management.

            Previous England Managers –
Sven Goran Eriksson – Poor football, no desire, big name.
Steve Mclaren – Tories lost this data in an IT Glitch.
Fabio Capello – Poor Football, no desire, big name.
Roy Hodgson – Poor football, no desire.
Gareth Southgate – Ok Football, fair bit of passion, maybe a bit generic?

Honestly baffles me the criticism Southgate gets. Please try and remember the last 20 years fellas, watching England since losing the passion of youth has not been enjoyable. GS imo is the best manager i’ve seen for England. Can anyone honestly say we’ve had a better one in the last 20 or 30 years?

Nil – It’s because our government is incompetent, but the majority of people in this country voted for this incompetence, so no one really wants to point it out.

Yeah Nil. I think we will see quite a bit of rotation in the midfield this season. It’s crazy the amount of miles they cover.

Dont mean to kick a man when hes down, but Kepa is likely at fault for the red as well. If he doesnt come rushing out, Christiansen doesnt have to make the challenge, or at least not as rashly. Really good time to play the Russians though. Team hasn’t gelled, and their fans always raise their game when we come to town, so playing in an empty stadium allowed us to play the game as if at home.

Sean – imo City didn’t legislate for the impact of Kompany leaving. If they sign Koulibaly they address the defensive void but will he have the same level of influence on the squad. I dont think you can right a whole season off as a blip. I do think it will be closer next year, but mainly because I dont think we will be as good. Pressure off for me next season though. First time in my life time I can watch liverpool without that sodding monkey on my back.

This is just me airing some wishful thinking – Liverpool are going to do a self imposed chelsea and not sign anyone this summer, at least not without selling. The reason for this (here comes the wishful thinking), is because they are going to snowball their funds and go all out for Mbappe next year. Thiago could come in this window, but it will not happen without sales. A bit of tongue in cheek and to be taken with a pinch of salt, but stranger things have happened.

Apparently the police were in pain clothes. So a drunk english man speaking to plain clothes Greek police might not have translated very well. Also to add, a couple of my best mates are what I would call nice stand up blokes. After 4 pints and a few tequilas they become massive pricks.

Whatever your views on this whole city mess are. “UEFA is a Protection racket for a few” is the truest statement i’ve read on this thread. FFP has nothing to do with fairplay, and is meant to preserve the aristocracy in football. I can think of 10 things straight off the bat that would better introduce fairplay into football, than limiting an owners spending power. Ie Max Transfer Cap, Max Salary Cap. Independent Panels to determine the value of a player. This would be messy to introduce but things would iron out in a season or two. Of course this much like FFP would be open to exploitation and corruption, but sadly that’s elite level sport these days.

In a weird way, a humbling from city is just what our boys needed. We’ve just won our first title in 30 years, and everyone associated with the club has achieved overnight godlike status. Being brought back down to earth instantly is ideal imo. Credit to city as well, they had a point to prove, and they proved it. It took all of this season to bring city back down to earth, hopefully last night is all our lads need.

Adlab – I have a double barreled name and am white British. It is both my dads and my mums surnames heifenated together. They both kept their own last name. My wife took my last name, so my son has both his grandparents names on my side. I couldn’t tell you if it’s also part of carribean culture or not though, it could well be. For what it’s worth I was always considered a posh boy because of it.
