So switched over to Scotland…why are the Jocks playing in pink? They’re at home and there’s no colour clash. What happened to their traditional dark blue?

God, Wembley is so quiet. Not much to get excited about though!

He’d be crap in away matches then!
So he was injured for a spell last season, was he? Sorry, I didn’t recall that. Great player though.

With you on Tom Petty, Jim. A true musical giant. Still reckon the Travelling Wilburys was like playing Fantasy Football. Imagine Petty, Dylan, Orbison, Harrison and Jeff Lynne on one stage together!

That’s the other thing about Kane…he very rarely seems to get injured. A bit like Suarez used to be for us, as the focal point of the team and the most dangerous player for Spurs, you would expect Kane to get kicked and battered, but he never seems to miss a game. Maybe a Spurs fan on here can correct me, but I don’t recall him missing anything other than the odd game. As Brian says above, Aguero does have an injury record, Morata is now out for a spell at Chelsea, and I look at our strikers over the past 20 years, and Fowler, Owen, Torres and, of course, sicknote himself, Daniel Sturridge all regularly spent time on the traetment table, as did our ‘less’ talented forwards over the years like Heskey, Cisse, Balotelli and Carroll.
I think Kane is a fantastic player, and added to the fact he doesn’t miss games, I would say he is the most important player to any team in the Premiership. True quality. Having said all that, he’ll probably crock himself for England tonight!

Aren’t I right in thinking that England now has 4 places in the Champions League regardless of the co-efficient?

Chucky, let me say, it would take a truly dreadful run for me to want Klopp out. At the moment I can’t envisage any scenario where I would want it. I just think it would set the club back. We’re 7 games in to the season, and look at the table…we are 2 points, yes, 2 points behind 3rd place, and yet it’s a crisis!! There are problems in various positions, granted, but we were never going to win the league this season, and we are still very much in the mix for a Champions League position, we are still in a decent position in our Champions League group, despite 2 disappointing draws, so this season ain’t over yet.
It may be by Christmas, but at the moment the knobhead Liverpool fans on the radio phone-ins and the forums who want Klopp out are just that…knobheads who, by and large, couldn’t find their way to Anfield.
So to answer your question, I don’t want anyone to replace Klopp…except Poch!!!

Aussie – While I partly agree with you in that we are a distance away from challenging for the title, I wouldn”t agree with you when you say we need 6 players. From your list above I would highlight the top centre back which is more crucial than anything, and the leader in midfield who ‘won’t go missing’. We have a left back in Robertson who could be at least as good as Young, Davies, Monreal or Alonso. Our goalkeeper, while far from perfect is not as bad as everyone makes out. I can’t recall too many goals this season you’d put as cock ups by Migs. And don’t forget he does have to play behind our defence which is enough to turn anyone into a gibbering wreck. And as for the 20+ striker…if Sadio, Mo and Bobby get 12-15 each, and Phil something similar, that suits Jurgen philosophy. He needs a centre forward who will work his socks off tracking back, hassling defenders, gegenpressing if you like. Much as I think Kane, Aguero, Morata and Lukaku are fantastic players, if they were in our team, Klopp would have to change his whole style and philosophy.
So for me the most important additions required are at least one centre back and a leader in midfield, and to people who say one centre back won’t right the wrongs, it may not, but it’s a start!

I don’t really understand the title of the thread, I must confess, but as it seems to be general footy chat I’ll join in!
I do worry about my team, as it looks like it could get worse before it gets any better, as our next two games are United at home and Spurs away, 2 of the 3 form teams in the league at the moment. Liverpool being Liverpool though and as they are big games, we will probably have a miraculous change in form and win them both. Have to say, that looks somewhat unlikely at the moment. I’m just hoping the international break has the same effect on our rivals as the one at the beginning of September had on us. We went into it on the back of a great 4-0 over Arsenal, but then the wheels fell off at City the week after the break, and we haven’t recovered yet. Still, United won 4-0 at home against a London club, international break and then away against one of their big rivals. Put it down for 5-0 Liverpool with Rashford to be sent off!!
Very, very impressed with Spurs at the moment, though I can’t see them maintaining their challenge. Superb 1st XI, possibly the best in the league, but IF Kane were to get injured…Wembley…Champions League (which they look like they will qualify from). Just think the 2 Manchester clubs look so much stronger. I was surprised how easily City bossed Chelsea on Saturday, that was a wake-up call to the rest of the league, for sure. United? Well, it will be interesting to see how Mourinho approaches the game at Anfield in 2 weeks. Surely they have to come with the idea of taking all 3 points, in contrast to their approach last year. We’ll see!

Acca for the weekend is Spurs, West Ham, Middlesbrough Exeter and Luton. Borough losing though. Exeter and Luton winning comfortably and Spurs obviously came through for me. Feeling Borough are going to let me down though

Aguero is a bit more than doubtful, isn’t he? He’s broken his ribs and is out for 2 months I thought!

Competition is only healthy if it is improving the performance of the two keepers. While it did improve Mignolet last season, undoubtedly, Karius has shown not the slightest improvement. It’s crazy by Klopp, and is jeopardising our Champions League chances

As for the Chelsea/City game, for the first time this season, I don’t fancy City. Aguero will be a big miss, no question, and I’m still to be convinced by your defence, even though you haven’t conceded many so far. I just think with Hazard and Morata in great form, and home advantage, I’m going for a narrow win for Chelsea

Brian – I asked this a month or two back, and someone, and forgive me because I can’t remember who, identified it as I think a ground of some Polish side I’d never heard of. It may have been Alfie or CB who found it with superb detective work, identifying the perimeter advertising etc.
However, I haven’t really helped much as I can remember neither the team nor who identified it! But it will be in the archives somewhere, if you can be bothered searching!!

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s an unrealistic prediction, and you and your Spuds are on fire, so you could well be right! As for me, I’m just not very good at this game, though a nice little Champions League accumulator of PSG, Barcelona, Manu (that hurt, but money is money!!), Juventus and Roma got me 6/1 the other night. It’s just the scores I can’t do!!

Brian…what are your thoughts on Delph? I always thought he was a good player…maybe not of the highest quality but certainly would play regularly for most teams bar the top 4 or 5 I would think. If he’d been playing regularly he would still be playing for England or at least competing with Dier who I see as a bit of a fraud! Did he make a huge error going to City…ideas above his station? Genuinely interested as I think the same could happen to Drinkwater at Chelsea.
Thoughts?
