Everybody who is evil is a twat, but everyone who is a twat is not necessarily evil, and that’s what rules our Balotelli, Gazza and possibly even Ruddock from this team!

Dunno Goat…you’ve got to be pretty f****** evil to get in this team!! Gazza and Balotelli were and are just clowns. Merson might be on the bench! But Thatcher at right back is a good shout and Lee Bowyer would have to be at least on the bench!

9 – Terry and Cole are already in the team, but Jones and Wise I like…not really, you understand! But Costa I’m afraid, while an unpleasant chap hasn’t to the best of my knowledge slept with a colleague’s wife, shown racist tendencies, used an airgun on trainees, stubbed a cigar out on trainees, beaten up his girlfriend in a bar, deliberately ended an opponent’s career. We have particularly high, or should I say low, standards to qualify for this team. Wise had some incident with a cabbie if my memory serves me right, and Vinnie Jones was just a thug like the characters in his movies.
Ed – can’t have Neville for the same reasons as Costa, I’m afraid, and as my missus still like Goldenballs despite not supporting Manyoo, he is therefore disqualified also, so I think Wise, Jones and Barton fill the 3 vacant spots, though I’m still not happy with Brucie between the sticks.
So no Spuds, Chucky. Spurs always were too nice!!

Joey Barton – genius, exactly what we are looking for in midfield! Kyle Walker? Nah…sorry!

Hoddle and King were never hated by the opposition for being horrible off the pitch, so I can’t see them qualifying for this team. You’re going to have to do better than that, Chucky! Brucie is a possibility as the keeper, but was he that much of an arse? I guess fighting in the Rhodesian army probably resulted in some fairly questionable social politics, but he wisely kept that to himself when his football career took off. And the S** sting was surely just the usual shite from that rag.
Grobbelaar??Vacant Terry Ruddock Cole
Vacant Vacant Keane Giggs
Suarez Collymore
Manager – Mourinho
3 spots to fill…come on, Chucky, Jim, Brian. it can’t be all Liverpool, United and Chelsea surely!!

How could I forget Diouf! But as you say, Ed, just everyone hated him!
Keane and Giggs are good shouts though! It’s going to be a pretty powerful team this though we will struggle for a keeper I think. I’m throwing John Terry into the mix!

Good point Ed about cheering on questionable characters in your own team. Which got me to thinking about those I”ve cheered on at Anfield in the 45 years of supporting Liverpool. Between us all we should be able to make some team. I can’t really offer a goalkeeper, but my nominations for dodgy/unpleasant/even downright criminal characters from Liverpool are as follows… Ruddock, Collymore and Suarez. I was going to nominate Jan Molby as he spent time inside whilst at Anfield, but I’ve met him, and he’s just too nice a guy to be in a team of bad boys.. I also thought about nominating Graeme Souness but he was just a nasty f***** on the pitch, and we’re looking for questionable off the pitch.
So if we’re struggling for numbers when you United, City and Spurs (and any others on here!) have offered your nominations I’ll hold Souness, Molby and Balotelli in reserve!!

Yeah, I wish this didn’t clash with our tie against the mighty Maribor, as it’s set up to be a cracker. If 999 is right and Napoli are playing a weakened team, it’s a real shame.
Was reading a newspaper article about Napoli today, and they were talking about their first ever Scudetto in 1987 (and that stat alone was surprising!), and they mentioned some graffiti that appeared in a city cemetery that season that just translated as ‘You don’t know what you’re missing’.
Good luck to the City lads on here, and enjoy the game, Jim!
And to the Spurs lads also…I really don’t like Madrid!!

Ed – if we raise our game against United and the home crowd is a massive asset as you say, the results since the Premier League started doesn’t back up that statement. In league games at Anfield, we have won 8, drawn 4 and lost 12 against you in that time. You have won there many times when we have had a far better team than we have now!

Ok Ed…straight answer is no, I would not have been dissatisfied with that, for the simple reason that City are unfortunately better than us. I would be happy with a point at the Etihad, of course I would, as would Spurs be happy with a point tonight, I would imagine. My argument with Morinho’s tactics is simply that if he is happy with that point, he appears to not believe that United are better than Liverpool, despite all the stats saying otherwise this season. Pep thinks his team are the best, ergo he can go to Stamford Bridge and attack Chelsea. If Mourinho wants to win the league, he surely has to believe his team are better than a struggling Liverpool side.

No recognised striker till the 8th minute? We very rarely do play with a ‘recognised’ striker. Against Arsenal Sturridge came on in the 74th minute and no one was disappointed. It’s the way we line up…don’t be disappointed!
While Klopp didn’t go gung-ho at the end throwing 11 men in to the United penalty area, there was still only one team trying to win the game right to the end

999…that’s the whole point..in this season of Man City looking so powerful, one point at Anfield will more than likely not be enough. If ever there was a time for him to try and get 3 points, this was it. They were in form, we weren’t, they were scoring goals, we weren’t, they were keeping clean sheets, we weren’t, and most importantly City need to be kept in sight.
As for Klopps tactics, as Oz said above, Couts had played 89 minutes 60 hours before and had a long flight home. I was at the game, and he looked ‘leggy’ from early on. Salah had been very effective in the first half but had faded significantly in the 2nd half…and Sturridge and Ox were hardly brought on to shore up our defence!

While his park the bus tactic has been effective over the years, I think this year will be different. If he and the United fans want to WIN the league they will have to get above City, and one point at Anfield is not going to do that. God knows we were there for the taking with our poor run of form, our dodgy defence, our lack of Mane and of course United’s good form.
I’m just surprised at the United fans not seeming to realise that they are going to need something special to keep up with their neighbours this year and that won’t do it for them, in my opinion.

I think it’s instead of friendlies, so there shouldn’t be more games as I understand it, but it’s an effort by UEFA to make more games meaningful. But really…who cares?

I’m not even sure he would go back to Argentina. He was only 13 when he left the country, so I’m guessing he doesn’t have that much affinity with the place now, though admittedly his performance the other night gives lie to that. I’m sure I read somewhere a while back also that because he left Argentina so young, the crowds out there never idolised like they did many others of their stars

As a matchgoing Liverpool fan for over 45 years now, even old enough to see Best and Charlton in my third ever Liverpool match, I’ve always hated the United game. Even when we were ruling the roost in the late 70’s and 80’s, United often seemed to get the better of us. I remember well the FA Cup final in 1977, the Jimmy Greenhoff goal in the semi final replay at Goodison in 1979, the 3-3 draw in about ’86 I would guess where we blew a 3-1 lead, the 3-3 in, again I’m guessing, 1993 where United blew a 3-0 lead. But it’s the game I hate to lose more than any other, and the fear of losing almost outweighs the anticipation of winning, particularly as for the last 27 years I have lived in Manchester. I moved to Manchester the summer we last won the league in 1990….perhaps it’s me that’s the problem!!
So on Saturday, once again I will go full of trepidation. I really can’t see us getting anything this weekend. Our best player will be jet lagged and our 2nd best player won’t be playing. Just dreading it…but I still wouldn’t miss it for the world!
