Agree with you about Anderson by the way, Jim.
However, what about this scenario? Barkley rocks up to Stamford Bridge last August for his medical having had his transfer agreed by all parties for a reported Β£35m. At his medical, it becomes apparent that he wouldn’t be fit for a fair few months, and so somebody at Chelsea says ‘tell you what, go back to Goodison, get paid by them for another 4 months. We’ll buy you in January for a knockdown Β£15m then. You, Ross, will get a nice big signing on fee, we’ll save a load on transfer fees, wages and rehab costs. In fact, the only ones who’ll lose out are Everton! Ha, ha!!’.
I guess there is nothing illegal in all this, but you can’t blame Everton for being pissed off (couldn”t happen to a nicer club, by the way!). It’s cost them Β£20m transfer fee, plus maybe Β£800k in wages and a few quid in rehab costs.

Yeah cm. City are playing tonight at home to Bristol City
999, a score draw on Sunday would probably suit us agreed, and as for City, I don’t think it really matters to them. Even were they to lose, it won’t have an impact on them winning the league.

The more I look at that site, the worse it seems to get. There’s a spat going on at the moment regarding Firmino”s alleged racist comment to Holgate. An interesting and valid debate that has just disintegrated in to foul and petty name calling between 3 of them. And, 999, the vile stereotypes used there are not uttered with smiley faces.
I just wish that a few more of the sensible Liverpool posters would come over here. Mak and Sean and Nil are great but Oz needs to.post more here as do others.

Come on, 999, lighten up. As a Scouser, I get loads of stereotypes thrown at me, my team and my fellow supporters by opposition fans. You needn’t take it so personally. Only get worried when people stop taking the piss! Which in Chuckys case will probably only be when his little team in Norf Landon actually win the league??? and we all know that ain’t happening for a while!

Really looking forward to this one though I feel we needed Senor Coutinho to be pulling the strings. Just praying Salam is fit to play.
Are any of you City lads going? I’ll be there but not with a lot of optimism. I would settle for a draw right now

9th January 2018 at 2:01 pm in reply to: If Pep was managing this United side, would he have won the league title? #11784Probably not, but he would have played more entertaining football and he wouldn’t have alienated the Press, his own supporters and the football watching public.
And he wouldnt have been so far behind City!

It’s a problem, though. If going to games isn’t an option, I can only suggest a United shirt, watching United games with him, posters for his bedroom etc…
…or you could lock him in his bedroom and not let him till he sees the light!!

Frankly, Ed, if it’s a choice between City and United, I think the lad is showing judgement and maturity beyond his years!!

Totally agree, Ed, but who? Lemar – don’t know enough about him really. Mahrez – doesn’t float my boat really as I feel he is a long way short of Coutinho’s quality, and I just don’t know enough about European or South American football to come up with any alternatives!!

Reported by Kicker (via the Independent) former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Simon Rolfes believes Keitaβs struggles had adversely affected his club. He added: βKeita has enormous potential… [but] he has not had the same impact that he did last season,
From what I have read, his form has dipped this season. Last season he was voted the best midfielder in the Bundesliga, this season his ranking has slipped to 5th…not a disaster certainly, but his lack of discipline in November when he got sent off 3 times in 2 weeks probably didn’t help! Mind you, VVD’s form had dipped this season prior to his move also, and it didn’t stop us spending a fortune. I don’t think Keita will come in January as RBL are still in a fight to get Champions League football for next season. Mind you, that didn’t stop us allowing Coutinho to go!!!!

999 – if you ever leave this site, can I recommend you apply for a position in the diplomatic corps? If I could do a smiley face I would do one now!!

I swear a mate of mine has a wife who looks just like Peter Beardsley. Always remember being in the pub on a Saturday night with her sat below the TV, and seeing Beardsley being interviewed on MOTD. A surreal and disturbing moment!

Ppt – being realistic, the only trophy he has much hope of winning is the FA Cup, though we won the Champions League in 2005 with a considerably worse team than we have now (Djimi Traore, Milan Baros, Igor Biscan anyone?). The problem there is that there are now many better other teams about than there were in 2005!!
