Adlab – reckon that’s meant to be Barkley. Think he’s doing okay myself but agree with you about Kane

Judging from this thread, there’s no one watching the England game on here apart from me, but a good start from England with 2 good chances already. I am enjoying watching this new England team. Just wish Sterling could finish

There are a number of posters on TT who just like to be controversial. Certain posters are just so disrespectful to others, not actually appreciating that football is by and large a subjective game, and yet arguments are presented as though there is a definite right and wrong. Other than any factual debates, there are no right or wrong opinions – they are just opinions – but the likes of Davinci, timetogobr and to an extent, Ginger are just disrespectful and there is no need for that. It’s a shame cos there are a lot of decent posters on there, and I just wish more would come over here on a regular basis, so Mak and Oz, please make more contributions over here – no-one will call you out on your opinions of Henderson, though of course you are wrong (smiley face!)

Good post, Mak, and I’d agree with your percentages, though I’d put us marginally ahead of Chelsea, who are marginally ahead of Spurs who are comfortably ahead of Arsenal or anyone else.
But, and it’s an important but, we ARE still very much in it at the moment, and that’s what we have got to enjoy. Maybe City will concentrate on the Champions League in the New Year and take their eye of the ball, maybe David Silva will get injured (not that I am hoping for that at all), so there are variables that may affect those percentages. I’m loving it that we are having our most successful start to a season ever, and that’s not boring. It’s just frustrating that City are just so good. as you say no-one likes a one horse race, except the jockey on that horse!

Oz…we’ve also beaten Spurs away this season, so it’s not just PSG of the top sides we’ve beaten.

Yeah, I agree Sean. I think they’ll pull away by the end of the year – they are a fabulous team. But at Anfield the other week, it wasn’t blindingly obvious who the huge favourites were. The trouble is we and the other challengers are far more likely to slip up than City are. But it ain’t boring like other European leagues (with an honourable exception being the Bundesliga this year).
And this why I can’t understand some of the City fans being paranoid that everyone hates them. They don’t hate them, but they do want them beaten!

Pax – I couldn’t agree more with you. I’m surprised Oz is calling the Prem boring. There are 4 or 5 very good teams who all play very good football and who are all within 5 points of each other. Unfortunately for the rest of us, one of those teams is not just very good, and they probably will win the league, but you have to commend the chasing pack. They are all hanging in there…at least for the time being. The Premiership is many things, but boring is not one of them

Must be the first time I’ve ever wanted United to win a game. God, I feel dirty!

999…well after every Chelsea win, and there have been a lot of them, you have said ‘Another 3 very important points towards hopefully a top 4 place and getting back into the Champions League!’
With the start you’ve had this season a top 4 place ought to be the very least of your ambitions. While I accept finishing higher than City might be taking optimism a touch too far, you are currently the 2nd best side in the country, so stop trying to kid us that 4th place is all you’re after! ??

Adlab, as 999 said, I think City’s squad is probably strong enough to cope without even their best player. After all being without KDB didn’t seem to affect you too much so far. A midfield of 2 Silvas and Fernandinho, and still having Gundogan in reserve is not too bad a position to be in. Of course if there was another injury…
As for Liverpool coping without Salah, a bit like Chucky says about Kane, I’m not sure we would currently miss him too badly as he’s not really contributing much at the moment. Arguably Shaquiri could offer just as much at the moment. I think Chelsea would definitely miss Hazard having said all that.

I play in a league called Reds Only in the FPL. It’s a group of about 12 of us who all go to the games together and are obviously all Liverpool fans. When we started this league about 7 or 8 years, we had our own unique rule that you had to have 3 Liverpool players in your squad and you weren’t allowed any United or Chelsea players!! Childish? Yeah…but under no circumstances did I ever want to be celebrating a Chelsea or United goal! This does however impact on my ability to compete in other leagues – at least it does when United have a decent team.
So I’ve got my excuses in early, but Pax, you’re still in my sights!

There’s not a good full back on the pitch tonight!
At least not one who is playing well. Walker Trippier and Mendy are awful

That’s the one, Ed! And it wasn’t even Chelsea, was it? It was more recently at Everton – that makes it worse! How have United allowed him to get like that?

I will always remember Hoddle’s goal against Watford…a little dink chip from an impossible angle. And an amazing volley he scored with a proper route one goal from a punt out from the Spurs keeper, it was headed on by someone and Hoddle volleyed it in from 20 yards or so. I can’t remember who that was against, and it could be my memory playing tricks and making it better than it was, but he was a truly sublime player. His first game for England as well, a side footer in to the top corner from 20 yaerds against Bulgaria (?).
Loved watching him play, even against us. He scored a cracker from 30 yards at the Kop end in a 3-1 win for Liverpool on the day we won the league to put Spurs 1-0 up. Fortunately we were good enough in those days for it not to matter. But I can remember more goals scored by Hoddle than any other non-Liverpool player, and that is a testament to just how great he was.
So my best wishes to him, and i hope he makes a full recovery
