Tell you what, I wouldn’t mind Liverpool being as ‘defensive’ as Chelsea this season! I think Chelsea have a superb side and a great manager, and are a fair shout for any or all of the major honours this season. Could do with not relying on their defenders to score all their goals though. And even that stat suggests that Chelsea aren’t a defensive side. In a defensive side, defenders defend primarily, and yet Chelsea defenders have 12 (?) goals between them already this season.
Anyway that’s my two pennyworth – off to Anfield now, where my guess I will be watching a ‘proper’ defensive side!

31st October 2021 at 1:04 pm in reply to: Gameweek 10: You’re getting fired in the morning…. #187811Pretty poor from Liverpool yesterday, the only really bright spot being that City had an even worse day. Just a great day for Chelsea really.
Midfield got totally overrun yestertday once Keita went off. I thought Jones was appalling yesterday, too much backwards and sideways passing, and caught in possession too often, and Ox, other than his assist for Mane’s goal offered nothing at all. Hendo was trying to hold the midfield on his own. Yesterday just highlighted the mistake in losing Gini in the summer and not replacing him. Meanwhile he’s sat on the benchj in Paris, probably wondering why he left (though the extra £100+k in his pay packet per week probably eases the pain).
It wa sso obviously going to happen with Hendo, Thiago, Fab, Keita and Ox all unable to stay long term fit. Bad mistake by the club, it must be said. Last season’s issues with the centre backs is this season’s problem with the midfield.

Hi guys…I am still here! Really sorry I haven’t posted for ages…just not really felt like it, though I do come on the site on a regular basis. I will try to ramp up a few posts. God knows, if I can’t post a bit at this moment, I never will!
As 9 says above, we are in such a good place at the moment, with only injuries as a cloud currently. We have the current best player in the world playing for us, and just what a player he is. Despite the fact that we have had some truly great players playing for us over the last 50 years, we have never had the best player in the world in our colours. Kenny wasn’t in Cruyff’s league, Souness wasn’t in Maradona’s league, Barnes couldn’t match up to Gullitt or Van Basten, Gerrard was out shone by Zidane or fat Ronaldo, and up till recently Messi and narcissist Ronaldo have shared the best player accolades between them. But Mo is, on current form, THE BEST, outshining Mbappe, Neymar etc. Lewandowski and Benzema are both scoring goals, but in easier leagues, and KDB is still getting back to his best after injury.
So enjoy it while it lasts, and treasure the time he is with us, hopefully a few years yet!
Of course the other cloud is the form and excellence of our two rivals, Man City and Chelsea. It really is shaping up to be an exciting league with 3 superb teams and as important, 3 superb managers. Which leads me to Solskjaer! Ha! There is the difference!
Anyway, will try to post more and support the site. Good lads on here, one and all, and it needs posters posting regularly. Guilty as charged!

Interesting and somewhat sympathetic article in the Anfield Wrap about Pep’s comments last week.

999 – all the best, mate, for your chemo. Don’t suppose it will be much fun, but just think of the end result. Wishing you all the best, and I hope Southgate and his boys give you a lift over the next week.

When Pickford is then man of the match against Scotland it says something was very wrong. Kane was absolute crap…again. Philipps and Rice were bang average, and Sterling…well, I’m sorry, but he really ain’t all that good.
Very poor showing, but maybe the master plan is to finish 2nd in then group?

999…yeah I know he did, but that aside wouldn’t most Chelsea fans agree that he hasn’t looked a £70m player for 90% of the season?

Really dont see the point of Havertz. Very underwhelming most of the season and again looks very poor tonight

Actually it is their right back who plays for Atletico, so Trippier will be facing him on the pitch.

Can only think Chilwell and Sancho have knocks as they aren’t even on the bench. Must admit, even though I would have picked Chilwell ahead of Shaw, I would have picked Shaw well ahead of Trippier at left back. Bizarre decision, but hope it works. Read somewhere that Croatia’s right winger plays for Atletico, so Trippier will know all about him? Don’t know if it’s true, but if it is, I guess there may be some logic to Southgate’s thinking

Sympathy for the City fans on here, but the better team on the night won. Particularly sorry for my mate gjblues who told me he was a bag of nerves earlier today. Unlucky, lads, but congrats to 999, Lucky, Blaze etc.
Still a few behind us, mind!

Ed – Watching Chilwell tonight confirms for me that he’s still ahead of Shaw

Really Chelsea could be a couple up if Werner could finish. City will come out a different side though in the 2nd half, I’m sure.

I’d have Fernandinho and Aguero (or Jesus) on for the 2nd half and hook Mahrez and one of Sterling and Silva.

I reckon Sterling has been your most dangerous outlet so far. Mahrez been anonymous. But you’re right…you so need Fernandinho out there
