9, I agree…he’s got to be the most improved player in the Premises over the last couple of years. Keeper error for his goal, admittedly, but he’s a proper player, isn’t he?

Sean, the City-Everton game has been re-arranged for next week. So they have the opportunity to close the gap, albeit having played a game more

Nil – don’t mean to start anything up again, mate, but ‘disrespectful’ was your anti-Leicester rant last night, not title talk

Spot on, Mak, though I’d put it at 55-45! We’d get stick if we were crowing that we have it all sewn up, and we’re now getting stick for honestly saying that it is still too close to call. When you can have a swing in points between City and Liverpool that there has been in the last 2 months, anyone has to admit, even 9, it can happen again. 5 points is nothing, but I would rather be in our position than City’s…obviously!!

I can honestly say I have never been as cold at a football match as I was last night, and the conditions definbitely didn’t favour our way of playing. But it’s the same for both sides, so no real complaints there. The result is not a disaster, but I think our disappointment is only because we see it as an opportunity missed. If we had battered Leicester and gone 7 points clear it would have sent a message to City, and I think unconsciously or not, they may have decided to concentrate on the Champions League at the expense of their league form. It didn’t happen, but with their next 3 league games being Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea, I’m hopeful they may drop a few points in the next week or two. My worry for us is that for the first time this season we look beatable now, so it wasn’t so much the result last night, but the way we played that disappointed me.

One of the worst/best/ funniest divers used to be Didi Hamman. He used to shield the ball from the opposition and as soon as the player came up close, Didi fell to the floor like he’d been shot. We never got any penalties through this as he was never in the opposition box! But the refs always bought it. It was a standing joke at Anfield at the time.

I think you’re all talking shite ??? even with slow motion it’s not always possible to state that was a dive. Who’s to say how much contact constitutes a foul? It depends on the speed the attacking player is moving, his balance ie does have none, one or two feet on the ground at point of contact? The only ones that are completely fair to penalise are those where you can categorically see there was no contact at all, and there aren’t too many of them. Even Salahs on Saturday, we can all agree there was some contact both by Sakho”s hand and his leg. Handing out bans without definitive proof is wrong, as it is still down to somebody’s subjective opinion. But wait, we already have that…the referee!

That drummer did my head in yesterday, Beni, but you’re right, the Palace fans were pretty good. What did you think of Zaha yesterday? I was really impressed, not only with him, but with Palace as a whole. Best side Hodgson has ever managed at Anfield. ..lol!

Adlab…just messing mate. It was as nailed on a pen as you could ever wish to see. And yes, the damn it was for your deflection!

I know what u mean about VAR. My only issue is that it would seriously interrupt the flow of the game which is something surely no-one wants. Refs make mistakes…sometimes it’ll go in your favour, sometimes it won’t

Mak, Gomez is good, very good in fact, but don’t forget he has only really done it for half a season. Let”s not get ahead of ourselves!

As far as i understand it was the same ref yesterday who didn’t send off Klopp who sent off Santo. The only reason for the inconsistency is that he got stick for not doing anything about Klopp against Everton, and Klopp was disciplined by the authorities, so the ref had to act this time. It’s a little unfait to accuse him of inconsistency now, when his bosses told him he’d made a mistake agaoinst Everton last time. So what does he do? Ignore his bosses?

In my opinion it was the ‘senior’ fringe players who let themselves and the club down last night, not the kids. Injuries permitting and based on the fact that we are out of both domestic cups, it would not surprise me if that is the last time we ever see Sturridge, Moreno, Mignolet and Origi in a Liverpool shirt. How Sturridge could justify having a strop when subbed is totally beyond me – he was woeful.

It was very poor from my team last night, and the defeat now makes Saturday’s game enormous. All our eggs are in the Prem basket now, and if we win it then no-one will remember last night’s game. If we don’t…well, who knows! I’m just dreading VVD, Allison or Robbo getting injured – it just doesn’t bear thinking about, looking at their replacements.

On a separate matter, I saw something at the game last night which really disturbed me. Now I’m not having a go at City fans here, so don’t take it the wrong way. As I mentioned yesterday I won my match tickets in a raffle and they were expensive seats provided by Sky and were in a City fan area, so we weren’t in amongst the headbangers…or at least we shouldn’t have been. When Liverpool scored a family about 8 rows in front of us stood up, punched the air and sat down again. In no way were they gloating or goading the home fans in any way. They weren’t wearing colours, the mum and dad were probably in their 50’s with a son about 15, and they looked a respectable nice family. Immediately a few fans around the area started abusing them and complaining to stewards about their presence, and they were then escorted out of the stand, to where I haven’t a clue. My guess is that this family weren’t even regular matchgoers and that this came as a complete shock to them. The abuse they got was unreal, and some of the complaining fans then continued on a witch hunt to identify other Liverpool fans in the area, which was really uncomfortable for us and a few others, I would imagine. My daughter and I weren’t wearing colours and through experience stayed in our seats when we scored. I thought it was appalling behaviour both on part of the fans and maybe the stewards as well, as their attitude when escorting this family out did not appear to be sympathetic at all to the family but more an appeasement to the aggressive fans. My guess is that this family may also have won or been given this tickets and very briefly celebrated in a very non-threatening way, and were left with a very unpleasant situation in all innocence. I just thought it was all very sad, ruining an exciting occasion for this family. It’s just so wrong.

The best team won last night without a doubt. It may have been different if the own goal had gone in, but as Brian says, it’s all ifs and buts. We are still in the box seat by virtue of having a 4 point lead, but it is too close to call. My only worry is strangely enough the FA Cup. I would imagine we will put out a seriously weakened team, and could well lose the game. In which case we have suddenly lost 2 on the bounce, and we lose the momentum we have enjoyed for the last few months.
