Fantastic result for United. Again I didn’t see the game, so did they deserve it? Now it looks like the only English team to go out could be my lot!
For the first time in over 40 years, I’m in a real quandary. Manu have a manager whom I don’t loathe!! OGS comes across as a really decent guy, passionate about United without being arrogant, coming across really well in the media, and looks like hes please tdo be there, unlike a few of his recent predecessors. It’s an uncomfortable feeling for me liking a United manager. I feel dirty!
Anyway congrats to United and the boys on here. Let’s hope we can make it a clean sweep for English clubs next Wednesday, though I doubt it somehow!

I didnt see it myself, but wasn’t there some VAR controversy last night in the Madrid game? People Ive spoken to today say the decision took 4 minutes, and then it was wrong! Is that right?
I don’t want to start yet another VAR debate, but I really have fears about it in the Prem next season. Football is all about instantaneous joy and celebration, or despair, and it is taking one of the prime ingredients of the game away from us. How many times does it take a minute or more for a goal to be confirmed to be ok, thus removing a key element of what we all enjoy about the game. Also I am guessing that it will ultimately mean less goals, rather than more, and it’s goals I want to see, unless they are clearly wrongly awarded.
It’s a disaster about to happen!

Good to see an Arsenal fan on here to counter Chucky’s ramblings!! Welcome, Steveo!

Mikus…I think it’s the midfield more than the front 3. They’re just all too similar…just can’t understand why Klopp didn’t look at Shaq or Keita to offer something a little different

22nd February 2019 at 9:54 pm in reply to: BIG Weekend Footy – Man United V Liverpool and Chelsea v Man City #34000My two pennyworth about our game on Sunday is that it is a season defining game as far as the league is concerned. If we win, I really feel we will go on and win the league. Conversely if we lose I feel City will go on and win it fairly comfortably. A draw and it’s still up.in the air.
While it’s obviously not mathematically decided – far from it – I honestly feel this weekend could very tell us the destination of the title.
…and I’m far from confident!

Absolutely, Ed. Just read about it – shocking news. Similar to the attack on Sean Cox at the Liverpool-Roma game last season. Thankfully he survived, but with life changing brain injuries. I just hope the City lad’s injuries are less severe than they are currently thought to be.

Threeps – pity! As I say, it was just on the off chance Munich was your home, but not to worry. Really looking forward to it having been to the city before, it’s a great place. But I’ve not been to the Allianz Arena, and I’m really excited about that as well as it will complete the set of top European stadia for me having been to the Nou Camp, Bernabeu, San Sir and Rome’s Olympic Stadium.
Just relieved we’re still in the tie!

Threeps- with you living in Germany, are you going to be in Munich for the 2nd leg of our game? I’ve got my ticket for the game so I’m there! Long shot as Germany is a big country but if you’re in Munich on the afternoon of the game and you fancy a beer or two…?

GJ and Beni – been away for a few days and only just read this thread, but I echo evryone else’s sentiments. I lost my Dad 8 years ago, and I still think about him every day. Tough times for you both, but it does get easier

Can Everton do us a favour tonight? Is there a will on their part to win tonight (bearing in mind the consequences)?
No to both questions, I feel, but you never know

That’s poor…very poor!. Every crowd has it’s idiots and West Ham have always had their fair share. Stuck in the 1970’s

Very, very disappointing last night, but somewhat predictable. Since the defeat to City at the beginning of last month, we’ve looked very ordinary…devoid of confidence, imagination and most worryingly, fight. Even our most reliable players, VVD, Robbo and Salah, have been poor recently, and with each game that they are absent, the reputations of Trent, Gomez, Hendo and Gini, not to mention the Ox, continues to rise. We were lucky to get a point last night, and while the bare facts of the table say we are still in pole position, the reality is that we have 3 days to get it together and sort ourselves out. I haven’t given up, and nor should any Liverpool fan, but it is beginning to slip away.

There’s no sense of entitlement at all…there’s a sense of desperation and excitement – dunno where you saw the entitlement in my last post. I just want it, man!

Yeah, but you’re in the snowy wastes of the Arctic, I’m a Scouser living and working in Manchester…so if it’s not bloody United, it’s City…and I moved to Mnachester in May 1990, the year we last won it. I remember all the great days of the 70’s and 80’s for Liverpool – there’s probably not many left who remember the great days for Tottenham!!

Hope you’re right, Adlab, but my natural pessimism (which is not quite as great as Oz and Sean’s) makes me think we may struggle tonight. Funny side, West Ham, they can look bloody awful, but then again, on their day, they are very good. Anderson up against Milner worries me…
….I can’t take another 3 months of this!! You’ve no idea what it will mean to Liverpool fans to get that elusive title again after 29 years.
