Right, off to the game now. Disappointed I’ll miss the City-Spurs game in some ways, but I hope the tie is still up in the air for the second leg. Could do with City being a couple down going back to the Etihad, so they don’t have the opportunity to rest anyone…and a little hamstring pull for Aguero or KDB wouldn’t go amiss either!! Nothing too serious…just enough for them to miss a couple of league games! That should be enough to rile a few of the purists on here (smiley face!!)

999 – I haven’t seen last night’s goal yet – looking forward to seeing it. As long as he disappears on Sunday, that’s all I care about!

999…I don’t think anyone underrated Hazard. Most would have him in the top 3 or 4 players in the world, I suspect.

Good shout on Dier, Mav. .THE most overrated player in the Prem, without question. Seems lazy and just not very good at anything!
Mak – don’t get me wrong. I like Alison but I just don’t see the world-beating keeper that many other Reds fans see which is why I define him as overrated, rather than a shit keeper.

Ed – as for Rice, I think he will probably become a fine player, but your Β£50m is only buying potential at this stage. He appears to have game intelligence, is versatile and should only get better, but he’s young and a move too early to a big club (can we still call United a big club?!) could derail him, but I think not. He seems level headed and I think would be a good buy for you lot.

Mav/Mak/Ed – I wouldn’t expect everyone to agree with my thoughts on Allison, and he is certainly a good keeper, but in the top 3 or 4 in the world? Really? Mind you, I feel there is a shortage of really top keepers about at the moment, both in the Prem and to the best of my knowledge abroad as well. De Gea is obviously the best in the Prem, and Ederson appears to be a good keeper also (but behind Allison in the Brazil team) but beyond that there is no-one outstanding around. Kepa, Leno are okay, I guess. Lloris is past his peak, Pickford has rushes of blood, Dubravka at Newcastle started well but has made quite a few errors recently, Heaton and Pope are very able but not world class. I just think people are grateful that Allison is not Mignolet!! Neuer and Courtois are past their best, and Oblak, I’m afraid I’ve never really seen play, so maybe after all that Allison is in the top 4 or 5 in the world!!But my point is that he is not a brilliant keeper!

Good question – I’ll be controversial as well. The guy I’m going to call overrated definitely fits the rated by most if not all category, but for the life of me, I honestly don’t think he’s that good, other than, and this to be fair is impoortant, he’s better than his predecessor and he seems to give his colleagues confidence. I give you…Allison! Is he really all that good? I’ve seen an awful lot of him this season (obviously), and he honestly doesn’t impress me much.
Underrated, I’m going for Iwobi at Arsenal. He was brilliant at Anfield in a 5-1 defeat for Arsenal, never stopped trying, unlike some that day, and every time I’ve seen him he looks a proper player. Not many talk about him so therefore it would appear he’s not really rated by many.

Brian – I understand what you’re saying about the prices, but that doesn’t alter the fact that City have, if not the cheapest, then very nearly the cheapest ticket prices in the Prem ( and credit to Mansour for that by the way ), and there’s still empty seats. You just don’t see empty seats at Anfield now, except maybe in the odd cup game. It’s not always been like that – I remember being in a crowd of 14000 at Anfield in the 80’s for a League Cup game!! And threeps is right, average attendance is bullshit – we can see that from Arsenal.
Mak, the atmosphere at Anfield isn’t as good as it was back in the 70’s and 80’s, sure, but I tell you, it’s a damn sight better than the Etihad. It was good the other day, Klopp even commented on it.
Anyway, I don’t want to get in to a ‘My Dad’s bigger than your Dad’ argument with the City lads on here, whom I have a lot of respect for (where has big Jim gone bttw?), I was just shocked last night watching it on TV that I felt I had to comment.

God, the atmosphere at the Etihad tonight is pathetic. I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be controversial or wind the City lads on here up, but the place is half empty and those that are there seem to be on a vow of silence. They’ve got a wonderful team to watch and some of the cheapest match tickets in the Premiership and it’s still like a morgue.

Sorry not been on here much recently. Have been reading most posts but not had time to post my ‘pearls of wisdom’, but after yesterday’s game, I had to find time!
No question we did not deserve to win, but credit to the team and the crowd for not giving up. I hope the crowd came over okay on TV, because they can get criticism at times, but I thought yestertday we were good!
Just couldn’t undertsand Jurgen’s team selection, at least leaving Fabinho out. He should be after only VVD, Robbo and the front 3 as definite starters. I thought Hendo was very poor yesterday, and I am a supporter of him generally, but God, he was woeful yesterday, arriving a split second too late for every challenge, interception etc, Milner, I thought showed his age yesterday and offered us little, and Gini just looked knackered and allowed the game to bypass him. The back 4 were great, offerring solidity in defence and great support up top from Trent and Robbo. The front 3 flattered to deceive a little but got no help from the midfield.
But it feels churlish to criticise anyone, as it is the result that is so important. We’re still in it, guys, and although City will be top by the time we play again, we have shown that we are a side that won”t give up, and need to be feared and respected. Can Warnock’s lot do us a favour on Wednesday? I think not!!

My cousin had Β£20 on Mane at the beginning of the season at 25/1, so he’s suddenly taking interest in this now!!

I think Liverpool can beat anyone left in the tournament…on their day! Equally they could lose to any of the teams left.
For the draw in order of preference for me it would be Porto, Ajax, Spurs, Manu, Juventus, Barca and City.
I know -people have been saying it would be better for Liverpool to go out of Europe to concentrate on the league, I completely disagree. Momentum and winning games is all important. In January after the defeat at the Etihad, we then went out with a whimper to Wolves in the FA Cup. Second string team or not, it was suddenly 2 games on the bounce we had lost, and since then we have struggled to regain the momentum we had in December. So stay in both competitions as long as you can!

Wow. At Munich airport waiting for a flight in an hour. What a great night! Arguably Liverpool’s best ever away performance in Europe. Very impressive indeed. Beer great, football great, stadium magnificent, Bayern fans awesome ( despite Nils rant). Just a thoroughly enjoyable 24 hours. Could sleep for a week now!

Well, starting my trip to Munich this afternoon. Really looking forward to the visit.. A defeat in Kiev didn’t ruin the enjoyment of that trip for me, and although I anticipate another defeat tomorrow night, its not going to spoil another fun couple of days. See you when I’m back!

Adlab…’As many as a dozen Premier League clubs will demand action over Man Cityβs Financial Fair Play charge, according to the Times.’
It’s not just Liverpool then!!

‘Letβs face it, we all suffer from selective outrage when it suits ?’
…and isn’t that what we all love about football currently, Ed? While not every decision made by referees is correct, the vast majority are, despite what we as fans claim. All our teams have both benefitted and suffered from incorrect decisions, but I would like to feel it evens out over a season. And frankly I would far rather suffer the odd bad decision than have my spontaneous enjoyment of football spoiled by a bunch of officials poring over some subjective incident from a little room God knows where!
