Sean – I love you to bits, mate, you know I do. We’ve had plenty of disagreements over the years, mainly over your negativity and pessimism, but I don’t know why you’re getting so riled about what Adlab said. He puts the bitter in to blue, but at the end of the day he probably thinks the earth is flat as well. Similarly with Mak – he’s a great poster, rarely slags off other teams and contributes great stuff on this forum, but to be wound up by Adlab’s comments is futile, pointless and unnecessary. If Adlab really wants to think Oliver cheated and there is a conspiracy against his team, let him make a fool of himself. Don’t get riled about it. As Steveo has said, we’re 8 points clear…enjoy it!

I wouldn’t mind a win and no challenge, just for one season if it’s okay. Just so want to get the Premiership monkey off our back. This 30 year conspiracy against my team has just gone on too long! ??

I was with you there, Steveo, until you said Man Utd and Arsenal were top teams! ???

Nil…nobody gets angrier than you mate!!???…well, at least until yesterday when Adlab and Mak got a touch irritable. So I really don’t think you are the best person to discuss anger!!

My view, for what it’s worth, is that it should have been a penalty yesterday, but it wasn’t given…a refereeing error and a VAR error. It just sums up everything that is wrong with VAR. It actually causes more controversy than it resolves, so what’s the point of it apart from giving Adlab another excuse to claim that there is a conspiracy against his team. Is there a conspiracy against Sheffield Utd, is there a conspiracy against Liverpool for the decision at Old Trafford the other week, or the penalty that wasn’t given to us against Newcastle when Matip was wrestled to the ground. No, of course there isn’t. It’s human error, exactly what fans have been moaning about since the 1870s. So again, I ask what is the point of VAR? It is ruining the game, but to be so paranoid as to think there is a conspiracy against your team, whoever you support, is plain ridiculous

Mikus…you’re right. Is Robbo Klopps best ever signing in terms of value for money?

And that crossfield pass from Trent to Robbo for Mo”s goal was sublime…and with his wrong foot!

Jeez…I go to a match and come back expecting to read some good stuff on the match thread, and all I read is Adlab being one of the sorest losers ever and Mak falling for it.
Fucks sake, lads…it was a cracking game won fair and square by the better team. Fab, Gini, Hendo and dare I say it, Lovren were all outstanding for us, and Sterling was a constant threat for City. By far his best game for City at Anfield. But City fans should be looking at their defence, all along the line for why they lost today. Should gone for Virgil when he was available, eh?
But it ain’t over and you won’t find many Liverpool fans saying it is, but it’s fair to say I’d rather be where we are than any other team.

Steveo – I think Liverpool are blameless in this surely. If they’d withdrawn from the comp they would have been beaten with the nsame stick that was used to beat United when they withdrew from the FA Cup. All Liverpool can do is play the fixtures that are put in front of them and as long as they are reasonably scheduled, that’s I’m sure what they will do.
As 9 says, I’m sure they’ll play the Villa game when the semis are being played…it really is the only option

Moos, well they kind of were unlucky, I suppose, but it was very poor game management to be 3-1 up, 4-2 up and 5-4 up and still not win the game.

Well that was an insane night at Anfield. Went there with a ‘can’t lose’ feeling as the result felt unimportant, I was just looking forward to seeing the kids play, and seeing how some of the senior players did. And it was really like watching your son play in an Under 9’s school match! Not a lot of quality, but rich entertainment, and one thing I will say about Liverpool FC is that they never know when they are beaten, whether it is the first team or last night’s Under 9’s.
As it happens few of the kids actually impressed me much, with the honourable exceptions of Williams at right back, Elliot to an extent and Curtis Jones when he came on. The rest look a long way from challenging for even a bench spot for the first team. As for the seniors, Keita was nothing short of a disgrace, Ox was little better, his goal notwithstanding. Origi scored 2 fantastic goals, and has become an icon at Anfield. Not the greatest player in the world, but over the last 12 months has achieved great things for my club, at crucial moments (Everton, Newcastle, Barcelona, CL final and now Arsenal).
All in all, a thoroughly entertaining evening enjoyed by 55000 at Anfield, and some much needed experience for the kids…and maybe an answer to the question of whether Keita will ever make it at Anfield.
I hope you switch the TV off, Mak. No-one but yourself to blame if you did. Watching Liverpool over the past couple of years should have taught you to expect the unexpected, if nothing else!

I know threeps! Miss the old days when I could astound everybody on the Liverpool TT page with what looked an unlikely team, only for that to be the team the next day! Even some of the self-styled ‘experts’ on that forum had to admit they were wrong and I was right. But sadly, Lucas left the club, and his ‘bagman’ with him, and my mole left!!
Looking forward to tomorrow night…it really is a no-lose scenario for me. Will be good to see some of the kids in the flesh…particularly looking forward to seeing Elliot and Brewster!

Mak. ..I think Ox is nailed on to start, and I would think Brewster and Elliot also. My prediction is…
Adrian
Milner
Van de Berg
Lovren
Gomez
Ox
Keita
Lallana
Elliot
Origi
Brewster..but who knows?

Have to say, Mav, and at the risk of being accused of being biased, I agree with Sean. The Mane penalty was as clear as any I’ve seen in my opinion, and most of the pundits and media seem to agree. Certainly agree with you about the Daniel James penalty at Norwich. I wouldn’t have given that but would have given the handball. James seemed to lean in to the defender and then fell…where’s the foul? Anyway they were both missed, so what the hell!
