2 clean sheets in 19 games that Fabinho has featured this season and 8 in 14 that Hendo has been the DM. Maybe we’re not missing him as much as we all thought we would!!

Nice to have you back, Mak,
Head to the top, Klopp
Banish the woe, Moetc etc
Sorry – just had a Simon and Garfunkel moment!
It would be a collapse of epic proportions if we did lose this from here, and the mentality of this team suggests that shouldn’t happen.

Mikus – absolutely, mate. Man City have made us raise our game, and I’m far from ignoring them. They are a magnificent side, but currently we are that bit better than them, and 2 or 3 years ago I thought we would never catch them!
We’ve come a long way in the last 10 years from the days of Hodgson, Poulsen and Konchesky to having 4 or 5 players in our team who are the best in the world in their position (Allison, Trent, VVD, Robbo and Mane??). That should start a row on here!!

Just back from the game, and another greta performance. So much control, so much patience…it’s almost as though the team decide how they are going to win.
I’ve not posted alot over Christmas, as I kind of feel as though it sounds as if I’m gloating to the fans of other clubs on here, but damn, we are so good. 50 years in April since my first ever Reds game, and I’m calling this Liverpool side the best I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch. The ’78 side and the ’87 side are the only two that can get near this one, but both of those sides had weaknesses in the team…this one doesn’t …and the competition is tougher today and yet look at our points total. 85 points out of the last 87 available – it’s just insane!

999 – that’s my point…Henderson wouldn’t be at the top of other club’s fans lists of players, but my argument is that he should be. There is not one iota of prima donna in him, and equally importantly he knows his strengths and weaknesses. He hasn’t got the finesse of a David Silva, he hasn’t got the shooting ability of a KDB or the goal scoring ability of a Dele Alli (??). But he’s very good at an awful lot, so I just don’t understand why he’s not better appreciated by others, including some of the idiots on the Liverpool TT pages.

No, don’t worry, Harry! All opinions are welcome! I agree that it is only Liverpool fans who seem to appreciate his qualities, and as I said earlier not even all Liverpool fans, and I just don’t really understand this. I honestly believe he is one of our most important players, for many reasons, not least his leadership qualities.

gj – you’re right! Thta was our most complete display this season by a distance. We just bossed the game from Minute One. Allison barely had a save to make as VVD and Gomez shackled Vardy totally, and going forward we were frightening…until we got in their box. We should have been out of sight by half time. Every player did his job almost to perfection. Hendo, Gomez and obviously Trent were simply outstanding.
Hendo is a player who divides alot of fans, not least our own fan base. What is the general opinion of him amongst those on here? For me he is the perfect captain for this team – never stops running, constantly barking orders to his team mates, constantly in the referees ear (something we haven’t had in recent years) and able to thread through some sensational passes to our front three. It could be argued he is one of our most creative players! The only area of his game where he does need to improve is in his finishing and shooting. He is Klopp’s general on the pitch – thoughts?
I do believe that if Wolves beat City tonight, it is all over. It should be now probably, but tonight’s result could seal it!

To be fair to Mav, it wasn’t him who mentioned Pep.
Anyway, as this thread is a love-in to Jurgen, I’ll just re-iterate what Mav has said about him. He has an exceptional record in the transfer market with, off the top of my head, only Karius being a complete disaster (mind you, that was a disaster that cost us another Champions League!). When he has spent big, really big, i.e. Allison and Virgil, it has been to great effect. Mane, Salah, Fabinho and Wijnaldum as his mid level signings were all slightly underwhelming to many Liverpool fans when they happened, and look at them now, and the bargains of Robbo and Matip have been brilliant for us. As Mav says he has markedly improved players like Trent, Robbo, Hendo, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Salah and Mane.
Players appear to want to play for him and enjoy playing for him which helps with his recruitment, though credit should also be given to Michael Edwards, the sporting director. Even the £4m we paid for Solanke was a bargain as somehow, Bournemouth were persuaded to pay £19m for him a couple of years later!
And, above all, I just think he is a really nice, genuine bloke. It seems that everyone who meets him have nothing but good to say about him. I can recommend on BBC Sounds an interview released a couple of days ago by Colin Murray ‘At Home with Jurgen Klopp’. He just comes across as a good, socially aware, caring guy. What’s not to like? It’s true that the media do love him, and I can understand rival fans maybe getting a little fed up of that, but there is not a club in the world who would not love to have him as their manager. It was the best thing FSG have ever done for Liverpool, getting him to join our club.
I love his passion, I love his honesty, I love his interaction with the crowd and indeed, his understanding of the Liverpool crowd, but above all, I just think he’s a great fit for Liverpool, and his legacy, ultimately, at Liverpool could be as great as Shankly’s is – I really believe that.
Anyway, love letter to Jurgen over! Sorry to the oppo fans on here, and I would expect a bit of a backlash from one or two, but as Mav says…you didn’t have to read this thread!!

I’m chuffed to bits we’ve won the WCC. In terms of importance to us, it obviously comes well down the list compared to the Premiership, but that doesn’t mean it ain’t worth winning, for many reasons.
I thought we were well worth our win last night, though there were a few hairy moments, not least in the last minute when Flamengo had that great chance to take it to penalties. I particularly enjoyed the fact that our two best players on the night were two of our least lauded players in Hendo and Gomez. Gomez had his best game since before he suffered his injury last night, and as for Hendo…what can I say? He gets alot of stick from opposition fans, the media and even a section of our own fans (see the pathetic debate going on on the Liverpool TT page), but there can be no question that he is Jurgen’s lieutenant on the pitch and is just the ideal captain. And to lead the team to this international treble in a 7 month period surely puts anyone questioning his value to Liverpool well and truly in their place.
Now they have to bring themselves back down to earth and get a result on Boxing Day at Leicester. I’d take a draw, to be honest.

Wow! 5 debutants in starting line-up. 2 of the front 3 yet to have their 17th birthdays. Not a single appearance between any of the subs. I fear for them!

Just how good is KdB? You hardly ever see him scuff a shot. The power and cleaness (if that’s a word) of the strike is just awesome. Mind you, you won’t see many better saves than the one preventing his hat-trick.
Not seen alot of Foden in the game, to be honest Adlab. I know he assisted one of the goals, but I just can’t take my eyes off KdB. Best player on the pitch by a mile!

Well it is all going our way at the moment. Never expected Norwich to take something off Leicester, and well worth it, by all accounts.
Watford gave a really good account of themselves today as well, but I can’t tell you how bad the conditions were there today. The wind was hurricane force gusting straight off the Irish Sea, and God it was cold. Conditions were same for both teams obviously, but it was a bit of a leveller, I reckon.
Only worry is another injury, for Gini this time. They really are beginning to mount up. Everyone has been using injuries as an excuse for City, but we were without Allison for 2 months, Matip’s been out for nearly 2 months now and still no sign of him back, Fabinho been out for 3 weeks and still some weeks from being back, Lovren and Gini now out for an unspecified time.
Steveo= just would like a miracle from your boys tomorrow please!!
