Hendo was motm today, no question. Assist and a goal, and what a captain! He got angry in the 2nd half with one or two of his colleagues being a little casual and then led by example. One of his best ever performances for me, and not just me. The Anfield Wrap gave him 10, and I’ve just listened to Shearer on MOTD saying he should be POTY…and Lineker agreed. He really is in the form of his life, whether playing as a 6, while Fab has been out or as an 8 now Fab is back. What a player!

Yeah, think the England matches are not till the end of March though. Maybe let’s find a non-City or Liverpool Champions League match?

Hi Gary – you been away? That would explain your non response to the idea of a bevvy or two! Nil has been banned (again)! Need to find a game to go and watch in the Boundary!

Without the midfield we’ve got, we wouldn’t be able to play the way we do. Dare I say it, without Hendo, Gini and Fab, Trent and Robbo wouldn’t be half as lauded as they are. In fact I’d go further and say they would be being criticised for not doing their ‘main’ job well enough. In fact, because of our midfield, defending is now NOT their main job. I agree with comments above and would not swap any of our main 3 midfielders for any currently playing in the Premiership, with the exception of De Bruyne, who I absolutely love watching as a player.

What makes Liverpool’s achievement this season so remarkable is that for the last 3 transfer windows our biggest signing has been Minamino at £7.25m. Adrian and Van der Berg last summer for pennies and nothing last January…and yet we’ve got better. I tell you, Klopp is a genius!

Think it will be interesting when we have won it with 5 or 6 games to go whether the players can keep their focus and get that unbeaten record. I still have my doubts.

I think the stat that amazes me is that Liverpool have more points than United and Spurs put together! I would love to go the season unbeaten and get a record points total, and that is really all there is to play for now. I reckoned we had it won after the Leicester game on Boxing Day although Sean, Mak, Mikus and maybe threeps as well shouted me down for going public! Admittedly we did have a tough run of fixtures in Jan but the mentality and single-mindedness of the management and team at Anfield allowed me to be really confident, even then. The single-mindedness has of course manifested itself this week in Jurgen’s attitude to the FA Cup, a decision I don’t agree with, but they do only have their eyes on one thing…well, maybe two!

Seems to me Jurgen is wrong. I’d turn round to the squad and management staff that were at Shrewsbury yesterday and tell them that the performance was so bad their punishment is ALL OF THEM, including Jurgen himself have to turn up for the replay and put things right. They all underperformed and for that they ought to play in the replay

Chelseaman = have to pull you up on you saying that the Liverpool midfield is ‘avarage’. Can’t have that I’m afraid. Hendo in the form of his career

Mak – did you not see how poor Lallana was when he came on against Utd on Sunday?

Another very dominant display today, and for the first time the crowd were singing ‘We’re gonna win the league’. For me City’s result yesterday and our result today has sealed it 100%.
The only thing that seems to be affecting Liverpool at the moment is boredom. It sounds really arrogant to say this, but against Spurs last week and today there were times we were so much in control it was emabarrassing and I honestly think the players got a little bored it was so easy. But at only 1-0 both last week and in the closing stages today we could have conceded. We just need to take our chances better. I’ve not seen any TV re-runs, so I can only comment on what I saw live in real time, and Mo’s miss in the 2nd half looked a real horror miss. But hey…we’ve won the league – there is no way we are losing it from here.
As for the disallowed goal, again only having seen it live, I never thought it would be given. It just didn’t ever look as though it would get past VAR, and I was surprised the ref didn’t blow himself. MOTD later will be fun. Oh my God, I’m so chuffed. Over half my life since I last saw us win the thing, and now my kids will get to experience it as well. My son was with me at the game today, and he was just buzzing. Just want to take Arsenal’s invincible record now and City’s points total record, but maybe that’s just being greedy! Sorry to all for going on about it – maybe we should keep it to the Liverpool thread – cos we will be invincible, unbeatable and believe me, unbearable!

Mav – Mak has nothing to apologise for, and as for Nil, I have never ever seen him apologise to anyone on either this forum or TT. I’ve been surprised how when he has been allowed back on that his first post back hasn’t been a sincere apology to all. It’s as though nothing ever happens and he never admits what he’s done wrong.
I know when I first met up with Gary (gjblues) last year, I’m sure we both were concerned that the other may be a d******d, but that went really well, and we’ve met up a couple of times since. I’m sure if we all did meet up, we’d all get on, but it will never happen. Mind you, of all the people on here, it is Nil I would be most curious to meet!! (but probably not in a pub!)
Talking of you, Gary, if you’re reading this, it’s about time we met up for another beer or two and talk about the other d*******s on here!

It’s a shame cos he’s been pretty well behaved on the whole recently, and I’ve enjoyed his posts (when I could make sense of them). He obviously has serious issues, and that outburst against Mak was just pathetic. As Ed said his list of people on here ready to give him another chance is diminishing by the day, and I fear we’ve seen the last of him for a good while.
For me, I would just call him a t**t and move on, and just ignore what he says. No-one takes what he says seriously anyway. However, it wasn’t me he had a go at and I understand everyone reacts differently, and he obviously touched a nerve with you, Mak. I’m kind of split on my feelings about him. Does he just crave the attention? Is he just a depressed alcoholic? Will banning him from here have an adverse effect on him personally, and exacerbate his problems. I really don’t know the answer, but I fear he’s pushed people too far this time.

Yeak, Mak, but you can’t have Suarez in the team as he was not in any of those teams that threeps posted at the beginning. That combined team would be a pretty awesome team though, wouldn’t it? A few egos in there, methinks!!

You’re right, we SHOULD be able to do it, and we probably will, but you won’t find a Liverpool fan who’ll call it yet. And Mav, I’ve got to take issue with your statement ‘Liverpool can easy beat City away’. Anyone who beats City on their home patch, be it Liverpool or Wolves, don’t find it ‘easy’. It could happen, of course it could, but the result could just as ‘easy’ go the other way.

I’m sorry I’ve not seen this thread until now. It’s an interesting question, threeps, and obviously there is no definitive answer. Each team has, to my perception, some apparent weaknesses. The first United team in the list has Johnsen, Irwin, Yorke and Cole (all great players but unarguably far from the greatest). The Arsenal team has Lehmann, Lauren, Toure and Gilberto. For Chelsea, Ferreira, Carvalho, Duff and Gudjohnsen. The 2nd Utd team has Brown, Hargreaves and Carrick, and City have Walker, Otamendi and Delph. And Liverpool have Matip, Hendo and Wijnaldum none of whom would get near a combined team. If I had to pick one of those teams, at first glance I’d go for the Arsenal team, I think, but just for fun (ands to start some further arguments!) here’s my combined team from the players above…
Schmeichel,
Trent, Terry, Van Dijk, Cole
De Bruyne, Keane, Lampard
Ronaldo, Aguero, HenryReserve keeper – Cech
Reserve defenders – Ferdinand and Robertson
Resrve midfield – Viera and Robben
Reserve strikers – Bergkamp and Drogba_____________________________

999 – it’s a myth that Liverpool have to lose 5 games for City to win the title. Let’s say City pick up 46 out of their last 48 points, which I’m sure you’ll agree is entirely possible, they will then finish on 93 points. We would then need 94 to win the league as their goal difference would be far superior. So 33 points from 17 games. 9 wins, 6 draws and only 2 defeats would scrape us over the line, but if one of those wins was a draw or one of those draws was another defeat, then we wouldn’t win. Man Utd at home, Wolves away, obviously City away, Chelsea at home and Arsenal away are the obvious banana skins, but Everton away could be points dropped like last season, West Ham?
Look I know we are hot favourites and obviously I wouldn’t swap our position for anyones, but we don’t have to LOSE games…draws can derail us as well if City are practically flawless for the remainder of the season, and the amount of games we have won by a single goal this season suggest that draws are not that far away from becoming a reality. Like Mak suggested the next couple or three games could pretty much clinch it for us, but equally one point in those 2 matches and we’ll be twitching, I can assure you, especially Sean!!

threeps,, Oz and Mak – can’t disagree about the next few games, the next two particularly. Neither Spurs nor United are in any kind of form, but they’ll relish the chance to be the first to beat us this season, and will no doubt raise their games accordingly. However, should we score the first goal in either of these games,, I would expect us to win the game fairly comfortably. We have a few players coming back from injury now,, although we have now lost Keita and Milly, of course, but I would expect the strongest possible team for the next block, the only question being Lallana or Ox. My hunch says it should be Lallana based on his recent performances, with Ox,, Shaq, Divvy and maybe Minamino to use from the bench. We just do not need any further injuries, particularly to any of our midfield

Steveo – regarding Brewster going to Swansea,, I think it”s an important spell for him. In the couple of first team games he has played this season, he’s not really stood out as anything special or done anything to get anyone too excited. He’s not even looked better than the other kids he was playing alongside. The 3 kids that there is excitement about at Anfield are Elliot, Jones and williams, all of whom have advanced this season. The same can’t be said for Brewster at this stage. However if he does well at Swansea and bangs in a few goals, he could still make it…I just hope he gets some game time. The omens aren’t good though, not many Liverpool youngsters are sent away on loan and come back and make it – I’m thinking Woodburn, Ejaria, Kent and Ojo. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve not seen anything yet.

442 – agree with you completely. She is an easy target for those who have an agenda, and also those who sit behind their keyboards taking the piss out of her for a variety of reasons. I should clarify I’m not pointing the finger at anyone on here – I’d like to think there is a modicum of good sense alive on this forum – but I think she is to be commended for her passion and her resolve in this debate. God knows, we criticise the young for not being politically and socially active enough. I think it is absolutely brilliant that she has got the world talking about this problem, and all power to her, I say. If she is the catalyst to get the world to work on resolving the global warming issue, then good on her.
