Very entertaining game tonight. I thought we were poor in the first 30 mins and all credit to Southampton for taking the game to us. Had we gone in at HT 3-1 down instead of 3-1 up, we couldn’t have argued. But obviously Pep got in their ears at the break and we controlled the ball and hence the game much better.
All despite one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen this season. The Foden incident doesn’t need further comment from me as Graeme Souness said all that was needed at HT. And if the Vestergaard penalty was given, surely the left arm push on de Bruyne should also have been awarded. How John Moss is still on the ref panel is beyond me._____________________________

Chin up Andy. Do you fancy a socially distanced walk along the loop-line, kick a few leaves and a have a good chat? I’m sure it falls into the ‘exercising outdoors with a member of another household’ category.
It’s good to talk

What is Gundogan’s injury, Brian? I know he came off v. Spurs but not heard anything since. My impression was a blow to the bollocks, which we all know can be ‘eyewatering’ but not necessarily lasting.
Have you heard anything?_____________________________

Cheers Sean and commiserations. Liverpool will come back, probably not this season but with a fully fit squad you’ll be up there next.
I do think Klopp needs to adapt/alter your style of play. The title win was down to ‘powerhouse’ football with a high press and a very solid defence. In this condensed season where fixtures are coming thick and fast, injuries and fatigue will obviously play a part – playing with such a high tempo for a high percentage of each game takes it’s toll.
Stay safe and take care pal._____________________________

At last, a win an Anfield. Absolutely buzzing.
Well deserved in the end. The pundits will talk about gifting us goals but we had players up the field to press and take advantage.
Phil Foden just gets better and better – two assists and a stunning goal.
A few more beers now and no work tomorrow………..if Carlsberg did weekends…………_____________________________

On the topic, Pep should give Frank a call and offer him a position as one of our coaches (to replace Arteta) 😉

Just seen this news (been watching recorded cricket all day). Really gutted for FL and can’t believe Chelsea have taken this option (or perhaps I can if their ‘hire and fire’ history is anything to go by). To sanction £200m of new and in the main, young signings, and then be given only four months to get them to gel, really is beyond comprehension. Despicable action by the club.
I wonder if Pep was in charge there and produced the same results, would the course of action have been the same?
Nike19 @ 11:11, must take issue with your claim that City would have taken the same decision. I will state they would most definitely NOT – if that was the case, Pep would have lost his job in the first year of his tenure.
Whoever gets the job best of luck coz you’re going to need it._____________________________

United v. Liverpool, two very strong line-ups – a ‘blood & thunder’ 90 followed by extra time and penalties would be very nice thank you 😂

Done ok so far. Clearly out-possessed but limited Wolves to zero clear openings. In fact Chorley had more attempts on goal and created the best opportunity, first couple of minutes bringing off a decent stop by Ruddy. While it’s only 1-0 there’s still a chance.

On a ‘sticky’ pitch, against committed opposition and Wolves confidence low, anything can happen.
The greater quality should prevail but you just never know.
C’mon the Magpies (Chorley)._____________________________

Aguero now tested positive and showing symptoms of covid – probably out for another two weeks at least. KdB has a slight hamstring injury but expected back in 2-3 weeks. Hoping he’s back for the Liverpool game.

Wonderful game of football. A credit to both teams in those conditions. I think we deserved the three points but Villa are a quality outfit and play football in a ‘pleasing on the eye’ way.
At least it’ll piss off Rio and Savage 😃.
Must say, until I saw Blaze’s explanation, I was going to post that I’d be very disappointed if that first goal had been given against City, but cheers Blaze for the reasoning – I certainly wasn’t aware of that aspect of the offside rule.
Another three points and a another clean sheet – onwards and upwards Blues._____________________________

Solid rather than spectacular performance from City tonight but three points none the less. Brighton played well without seriously threatening and overall Potter got his tactics spot on – make no mistake they are a decent team.
Not sure how Mahrez gets a start ahead of Sterling (on the right) – the number of times he lost the ball and didn’t make any attempt to track back beggars belief; hope Pep noticed this. The best we’ve played this season is with Foden on the left and Sterling on the right, with KdB, Bernardo, Gundogan and Rodri operating (and alternating positions) through the middle._____________________________
