Ed, as a consequence of the ESL announcement and (as far as I’m aware) all contributors to this forum support the ‘Big 6’, have you considered renaming the site, possibly, ‘Pariah’s Footydebate.com’?
All joking apart, and I know, if the ESL is implemented, it will probably be in a totally different guise to that reported today, I am truly devastated by the announcement that my club will be one of the members. A club that I’ve supported since 1970, in three different divisions and watched them at 71 different league grounds up and down the country. Us true supporters are being sold down the river without any care. That is the real sad part in of all this._____________________________

Some rumours going around that he refused to take training this morning due to the ESP announcement. Respect to him if true.

Sean, I think it’s the European Clubs Association. Without looking into it further, I’m not sure what they do or stand for.

Nine, where did you get that info from, like I said, BBC are reporting five clubs? Are Spurs not one of them, then?

It would appear that is impossible, Blaze, after the joint statement issued by FIFA, UEFA, PL, EFL and similar authorities in Spain and Italy.

Congrats to Chelsea on the win yesterday. You bossed the game, pretty much, from start to finish, better than us all over the park and thoroughly deserved the victory.
Really can’t understand Pep’s selection – Sterling and Mendy down the left – really? Sterling suffering a confidence crisis and Mendy nowhere near good enough now since his injury a coupe of seasons ago.
Hope KdB is ok and not too serious.
Huge game for us now on Wednesday after United’s lucky win today._____________________________

I assume Pagan your question is can City do the Q?
In a word, “no”. There are far too many circumstantial factors that can upset any quest for a Q; injuries, marginal refereeing decisions (even with VAR), loss of form, COVID outbreak in a squad, etc, etc, etc.
I think the question is somewhat premature, as we haven’t won anything yet. If, at the end of April and we had secured the PL, won the LC, reached the FAC Final and semi final of the CL, then that is the time we can seriously think it maybe on. Hell of a lot of water to flow under the proverbial bridge before then._____________________________

Yes Brian, he does get caught in possession on the odd occasion; however, I think that’s because he has no options (open players to pass to – very rare, I know) and tries to play his was out of a situation rather than ‘hoofing’ the ball upfield.
Still a fantastic reader of the game and can pass a ball with pace and accuracy as good as anyone in that position._____________________________

Excellent team performance from us yesterday – no player less than 7/10. Mendy on the scoresheet and showing Mahrez (in first half) how to tuck one away, curling into the far corner, on his ‘wrong’ foot too.
Limiting Leicester, with their attacking prowess, to just a couple of half chances was no mean feat. Just shows how much our defence has improved this season with the acquisition of Diaz.
And (another) big shout for Fernandinho, who reads the game from HMF better than anyone I can remember in a City shirt. He just gets better with age – really should be offering him a contract renewal for at least another 12 months, maybe 24 – I’m sure he’d be happy with that, even playing a ‘bit part’ role.
Dortmund next and they will offer a similar threat to Leicester (style of play). We just need to be wary of that striker they have….can’t remember his name – he’s gone under the radar somewhat 😉_____________________________

Official: Aguero to leave at the end of the season.
Not really a surprise but will still be a sad day for the club. A true City (and PL legend), if only for THAT goal alone. But his stats stand out amongst all peers: 257 goals in 384 appearances (all comps).
Just hope us fans are allowed back in for the last game of the season to bid a fond farewell._____________________________

The issue I have with ‘no offside’ rule would be teams reverting to ‘goal hanging’ and long ball tactics, which, imo, would be a retrograde step for the game of football.
The better option, which would lead to more goals, is the one professed by Wenger, where if any part of your body is onside, you are not penalised. It would not reduce the amount of VAR interruptions but as I said, it would lead to more goals, which essentially, is why we watch the game._____________________________

Cityboy, yeah Foden had a great game. He really is going to be some player and honest as the day is long too. I know he’s a very good player now, and this is a very bold prediction but he could become one of the world’s best in the next 2/3 years.

Totally agree about Fernandinho, Brian. Just think his passing is more accurate and quicker than Rodri’s, he is more mobile and his drive from HMF is phenomenal, even at 35 yo. Wonderful player and in the position he plays, he just gets better with age. With managing his playing time, I still think he could do a job for us for at least another season, maybe two. Wish he were 10 years younger.
When we talk about City legends, we naturally think of Silva, Komps, Aguero, Yaya, Zaba, etc, but for me Ferna is right up there with them._____________________________

Tough CL draw. If we beat Dortmund we face the winners of PSG and BM. Do think we have a decent chance as defence is much stronger this season.

I’d forgot about Friday match and just updated my Fantasy team. Not much choice though with only four games. Fulham v Leeds might be a good watch._____________________________
