That was a wonderful (stuff of champions) second half performance from us tonight. Pep appears to have re-discovered his masterclass mojo after one or two odd decisions over the last couple of months. Still in Arsenal’s hands but what is that going to do for their, already, lowish confidence?

Ed, apparently Foden came back from the WC with a foot injury and was initially brought back too soon. Added to that he had an illness recently which side-lined him for another week or so.
When fully fit he is one of the first on the team sheet – played almost every week before the WC and if my memory serves me right, scored a hat trick in the Manchester ‘derby’ – they don’t come much bigger than that.
I fully expect him, providing he is now fully fit, to play a big part in the rest of our season._____________________________

What a s***e decision – never a penalty in a million years. Ederson just stood his ground and the attacker ran into him.
Mason is a complete tosspot._____________________________

“We all know about Manciniβs contract…”
Come on Chucks, hand on heart, do you honestly believe that all clubs don’t make ‘back-handed’ payments to players and staff?
It’s always happened, trust me I know._____________________________

Here’s my take on it, for what it’s worth.
From what I’ve read and seen so far, I’m pretty sure City are and will be found guilty of some, if not all the charges made.
I’m also pretty sure that every other PL (and possibly EFL) club ‘bends’ the rules to suit it’s own agenda – that’s what (big) businesses do.
So why City?
First of all there was the intended publication of the Govt. White Paper about ‘cleaning up’ football. And City’s case was rushed through – proof being that there were mistakes all over the first issuance of the charges.
Secondly, the FA (without any doubt) have repeatedly been put under pressure, mostly by the other five ‘big 6’ clubs regarding City’s ownership and financial position, probably through jealousy and fears of another club breaking into the old cartel – wasn’t it something like 10 seasons where the top 4 consisted only of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal? Financial fair play, I think not.
So, what can we expect by way of punishment? A fine, almost certainly but that wouldn’t hurt so much. A points deduction, probably but not so damaging (depends on number deducted, obviously). Relegation, possibly and that would be painful. Stripping of titles, probably not due to red tape involved and subsequent chaos that would ensue.
I’ve supported my club for over 50 years and will continue to, regardless of the verdict and punishments, However, I really hope we are innocent of the changes and prove that to be the case. I really don’t want us to defend the case on a technicality. The club statement, yesterday, was quite strong in suggesting they have “irrefutable evidence” in answer to all the charges. Time will tell._____________________________

I hope Potter’s magic wand is in full working order; or is he going to Huff n Puff to get them all to gel. It needs to work quickly, otherwise he’ll be Slytherin out the Gryffindor by the summer._____________________________

Yes, we’ve had a few tough draws recently but at least they’ve been home ties and tbh that’s all you want in cup games. United seemingly the ‘hot ball’ flavour this season.

Well deserved win for BHA. Great winning goal. Liverpool very lucky to have 11 on the pitch at the end – Fabinho tackle was nasty and cowardly. Konate on MacAlister – forearm to the upper back/neck, he was last man and made no attempt to play the ball.
Brighton are a classy outfit and no one will want to draw them._____________________________

14th January 2023 at 4:12 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 20 – Manchester and London Derby #202898It can be argued all day about the legitimacy of United’s equaliser (as it appears to be on here). My view is that by feinting to play the ball, as Rashford did after he heard Fernades’s shout, he is interfering with play and subsequently affected the actions of the defenders and ‘keeper, therefore NO GOAL. Having said that, my main concern is why City got caught on the break, leading 1-0 with only 10 minutes remaining. Will Pep ever learn – we lost at Madrid in similar circumstances last year and dropped points to Everton only a couple of weeks ago.

Very poor from some Liverpool fans during the minute’s silence. If you demand respect, you should learn to show some.

Good 3 points for us today, against, what could have been, very trick opponents, especially as we looked decidedly ‘undercooked’ in the CS last weekend. We controlled the game, pretty much, from start to finish and great to see Haaland off to a flyer.
On a side note, SSN are reporting United have had a Β£7.6m bid turned down from Bologna for 33yo Marco Arnautovic. If true, that’s very embarrassing – oh how the mighty have fallen._____________________________
