You’re far too good for Chelsea Nine 🙂

Point taken Brian. But I was only thinking along the lines of him being a former Liverpool player.

No need for apologies Mav and definitely no hard feelings on my part.
I did suspect drink may have played a part 🙂
Cheers, GJ._____________________________

Mav, you do surprise me wishing a Chelsea win???????
I’d have thought that if you harboured any realistic chances of CL spot, you’d have wanted Chelsea to lose, no?
Anyway, onto the game. Well deserved win for Chelsea. If you dominate the first half as much as we did and don’t take advantage, you’re going to pay for it against a good team with a good manager – Chelsea the better team in the second half and like I said, well deserved win.
Do think Pep made a mistake today, playing a very young team – all bar four of the starting 11 were in their early 20s. But what do I know?
We definitely need Aguero, KDB and Mendy back soon, and hope Merlin’s not too badly injured.
Just to note, after only 16 games, we have played all the other top five away from home so still confident we’ll be top come the end of the season.

Spurs pen – never one in a million years. You can half understand why Dean gave it though.

Job done. Just need a point at home to Hoffenheim to secure top spot. De Bruyne, Mendy and Bernardo to come back in.
Not at our best tonight but Lyon are a good team and will give anyone a run in the knock-out stages._____________________________

I wasn’t criticising anyone, Nine, just pointing out a fact.
I know which team in the PL is getting the best value for money for the wages they pay and that’s all I’m bothered about._____________________________

Yes Adlab, we certainly rode our luck in the first half. Not sure Sterling in a more central role is working and both Sane and Mahrez have had no effect at all so far. Laporte has been superb, as he has all season.
Still, we can only get better…………..hopefully._____________________________

Nine, fyi, United have the biggest wage bill in PL.

Hi Alfie.
Re Mkhitarian – only time will tell but at the mo, definitely Arsenal – he’s playing most weeks and they are above United in the league. I think his style of play is more suited to Arsenal than the way Mou is setting United up. Sanchez on the other hand has to play – imho, if you are going to play with wing backs, I wouldn’t play Lukaku, I’d try Rash and Martial as twin strikers and give Sanchez a freer role just behind. JM appears to have an obsession with a strict organisation and every player sticking to a position.
Just my thoughts. Yours?_____________________________

Cheers HH.
Yeah I know he’s ‘cooled off’ occasionally in the past, just hope he’s healthy._____________________________

“Lol! Obsessed”
Lol – yes, obsessed – no. Just a bit of friendly banter, guys.
Lovin’ my football life at the moment. Forty four years of hurt and all that 🙂
Btw, only got back from a month’s holiday last week, not seen Jim on here, is he ok?_____________________________

I think he is with goal and win bonuses, Mav.
But he isn’t getting many of those at the mo 🙂_____________________________

Also HH, agree about Henderson instead of Dier (bit too slow), probably in a 3-4-3, where we need a bit more solidarity in the middle if we play with wing backs.

Perhaps I watched a different game to you, Alfie 🙂 but can’t recall any misplaced passes at all from Stones. Not sure he was to blame to their goal – if anything Dier didn’t step up quick enough to block the effort, he just half turned his back.
Agree with you HH, they look very comfortable together. Re Maguire, he’ll fit into a back three, if GS elects to play that formation. Gives us plenty of options, which can only be a good thing._____________________________

Wow, whoever said this Nations League would be boring. Great game to watch and thoroughly deserved England win – should have been three up in the first 20 mins and thus game over.
HK only got MoM for assist and his goal but that’s not a criticism, his overall contribution, although not spectacular was still solid.
I may be a bit biased but a big shout for Delph, who had a very good first half. I think he’s a better option than both Dier and Henderson – quicker of thought and pass. You can really see the influence Pep has had on his overall game these last 18 months.
Also thought Stones did well – his reading of the game is excellent and never looks flustered._____________________________

Mikus, Liverpool are slight favs with most bookies and yes, your defence is much improved.
Our record at Anfield is awful. I’ve got a feeling that Pep might go with a false nine, like he did at OT last season and try and pull your central defence out of shape. Just think we need to play it a bit more cautious for the first 30 and grow into the game. If we can keep it tight for the first half, I do think the fact that you played away and on Wednesday might come into play. Having said that, I’ve never seen a City team under Pep, play to keep it tight, so who knows, eh?
Like I posted earlier, I’d take the draw now._____________________________
