Question: City play Everton on Wednesday, the game, I think, that’s been brought forward due to our reaching the LC Final. Does anyone know why Chelsea’s game has also not been brought forward?
Nine, any clues?_____________________________

Sean, have to admit to a bit of a rant last night – not happy with what Aldridge said in his article. You’ve obviously seen a lot more of him than I did, so I’ll bow to your better judgement on this one. I do remember going to Oxford in the mid-80s and we got stuffed 3-0 – Aldridge played a blinder and was MoM, think he got 2 goals.

Sean, read my post again. I didn’t say he was a poor player – your words – I said he had limited ability. He was suited to football in the 80’s, ably assisted by the far better technicians I mentioned. Am I right?
He didn’t need to say what he said, we all know City are far, far behind Liverpool in the trophy count (at the moment) but he needs to check club valuations before calling us a “small club”._____________________________

“I find it utterly bizarre that a football manager is adverse to winning trophies!”
In that respect he’s had unbelievable success ?_____________________________

Aldridge, a CF with limited ability, actually got lucky himself, playing in that great Liverpool team in the eighties – absolute tosser. Good scoring record but my Gran could have scored with the likes of Houghton, Barnes, Molby, Beardsley, McMahon, et al supplying the ammo.
Radio City should sack the muppet._____________________________

TBAN19, tbf mate, as Alfie and Nine have already pointed out, United were basically backed into a corner by the FA, hoping to boost their 2006 WC bid.

Yes Sean, that’s the point I was making, he must have been comparing to life under Jose.
Overall, it was a good watch and on another day Spurs could easily have run out comfortable winners. They had lots of chances, most on target but all straight at de Gea or within comfortable range. Having said that, the stop from Alderweireld, the speed at which he adjusted his feet was astounding – slomo didn’t do it justice._____________________________

Having a good laugh in our house about Gary Neville’s, very much, ott comments about United – “absolutely brilliant first half from United” is just one example. I assume he’s comparing it to their performances of a couple of months ago – decent but “absolutely brilliant” it was NOT.
Did he not see the Spurs Chelsea game in midweek?_____________________________

Have faith, Adlab, Wolves are a good side and don’t concede many goals. We may have to be patient and 0-0 at HT wouldn’t surprise me. However, with no injury concerns, apart from Mendy, we should be too strong for them over the 90 and I’m going 2-0 City.
Must say I was quite impressed with Liverpool yesterday. I felt it was a game they could have dropped points but once they got the goal they controlled the game through to the end and didn’t look in any danger of relinquishing their lead – it’s exactly what they needed to do after two losses. It’s what prospective champions have to do.
Still a long way to go though.

Can’t believe what I’ve just heard on SSN – Chelsea interested in Higuain, a class B striker at best. I said when they sold Costa, they should pull out all the stops to get Lewandowski and that should still be their target, and a year younger than Higuain.

Didn’t watch it anyway Adlab. But would have watched one of the other games I mentioned.

Not sure why United v Reading was on tv live – isn’t that 1,239,596 consecutive United FA Cup games shown live now? Surely Chelsea v Notts Forest or Derby v Southampton would have been a more attractive proposition.

Sorry to hear about that HH.
I’ve sat in away enclosures many times, including Corporates (not box) and as Nine points out, as an experienced fan you know to sit on your hands and not celebrate. That’s not making an excuse because it shouldn’t happen at a sporting event, full stop.
I’m not sure how these people managed to get tickets, being Liverpool fans, in the home section because all tickets were only sold to fans with a purchase history. If they were ‘won’ then the organiser always confirms to any ‘entrants’ where the ticket are located, home or away ends._____________________________

Just back from the game and now going to watch it again (not sure you can get a true perspective live, especially when your nerves are a bit shredded).
Anyway from watching it live, I thought we pretty much controlled the game for the most part. Liverpool a bit unlucky with the goal line clearance and put us under a bit of pressure last 10 mins when both teams looked tired. Our MF 3 bossed the middle of the park and that’s where it was won – even with Silva (D) not on top form, Bernardo and Fernandinho were superb.
Great finishes from Sergio and Sane and possibly could have had another via a couple of breaks in the closing stages.
Nothing won at this stage but it puts us right back in it, especially with all our big guns getting back to fitness.
May the best team win.
