Facundo Pellistri comments have certainly stirred up the ‘derby’ contest:
“Manchester is all about United. You don’t see City shirts or flags. Sometimes, with my girlfriend, we go out and say ‘let’s try to find one’ and we don’t see them.”
Very sad little game played by a very sad little f**kwit. When you’ve won something come back then. In the meantime, you need to be very careful next time you go out playing your little game.

CM – “Your starting 11 cost 350m and your subs bench cost 350m.”
What the hell does that have to do with it?
I’m not sure a United fan (you are one aren’t you, CM?) can have a go at any club about what it’s spent when United have literally wasted more cash on players over the last 5/6 years than the rest of the PL added together._____________________________

CM – “What a goal by Martinelli.”
It was (another) deflection, CM.We were not good today but I don’t think Arsenal did enough in the match to warrant the 3 points.
Not the end of the world and not at all worried – considering we have a few new players still ‘bedding in’, a couple coming back from injury and the loss of Rodri (silly boy). We invariably start most seasons in this form – if anyone can get it right, Pep will.

Masterclass from Foden tonight. Have we finally found our new David Silva? Finding space between the lines and threading passes through the defence. Has a bit more pace than 21 also and has the ability to go past players. Kovacic and Rodri also had good games.
As for Newcastle, knocking five past Villa is one thing, beating the current champions and treble winners, even without Stones, KdB and Bernardo, is quite another. They were also very niggly and dished out one or two ‘naughty’ tackles.
Very early days and Pep has us playing well within ourselves at present, mainly due to being under prepared and the injuries we have. I’m sure if/when everyone is fit, LD, you’ll see us back to our very best, a la the matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, BM, RM, etc. from last season._____________________________

16th August 2023 at 11:18 pm in reply to: UEFA Super Cup Final 2023 – Manchester City V Seville – Weds 8pm #208444Thought we were the better team overall – not easy playing against 11 men behind the ball in 30’+ heat. Having said that, a few concerns as our defence, especially in the second half at times, were all over the place. Definitely need Stones and Dias back soon, hopefully in time for Newcastle on Saturday.
Still, certainly take the trophy and you could see what it meant to Pep at the end._____________________________

Just read Paul’s son’s message from earlier today. Very sad news indeed. I echo the words in all the subsequent posts – it’s strange how much the loss of someone you’ve never met can affect you.
RIP pal, until we meet again 🙏_____________________________

Sean, there’s nothing madder than the £65m Arsenal have paid for Havertz. That truly is a ‘head scratcher’. Limited talent, not a natural goal scorer and, imo, worth about £30m, tops.

Good replies Mikus and Sean and I agree entirely.
Believe me, the last thing I want is for us to win everything, every season – that would definitely take away the pleasure of watching football. I’ve witnessed, first hand, CL, PL, FAC and LC wins and those memories will last forever, despite the outcome of the FA charges (it’s actually 115 charges, Cocky).
However, we face a huge crossroad when Pep leaves (probably in two years time), the same as United faced when SAF retired and Liverpool when they abandoned the the ‘Boot Room’ recruitment policy in the late 80s.
Only time will tell._____________________________

Mikus and Sean, it’s pretty much the same as Liverpool in the 70s and 80s and United in the 90s and 00s. Not only do they have the most money, they also have the ‘pull’ of being the best team around, where players want to join a club that has the best chance of winning trophies.
For the record, I’m not sure about Rice but if the best manager in the world wants him, then who am I to argue?_____________________________

OMG, not being a regular/consistent poster on here, I missed this thread somewhere along the way.
Absolutely devastated to now learn of Nine’s situation. My thoughts and prayers are with you cyber pal – hope you’re still with us, without pain 🙏_____________________________

13th June 2023 at 2:44 pm in reply to: Champions League Final 2023 ⚽️ Man City V Inter Milan 🏆10-06-8pm #207414Hi Sean.
UEFA really could not organise the proverbial ‘piss up in a brewery’, mate. The ground was at least an hour on the shuttle buses (SB)/metro. I think about 30km outside the city centre.
The queue for SBs was over an hour, with no shelter, in full sun and temps of around 25′. They also prevented you from taking bottles of water on the buses saying that there was water on sale at the fan parks next to the ground – a 300 ml carton of water was 2.50 Euros. We heard reports of people being sick and passing out on the SBs, on the way to the ground.
The fan park ran out of beer at 6pm (four hours before ko)
You could only pay by card or in Euros in the fan park – they would not accept the local currency (Turkish Lire).
We got back to the SB park (10 minute walk from the stadium) after the match and presentation, at 1:30am. We then waited 20 mins for a SB and then were stuck in the car park (because of the number of vehicles and totally inadequate exit) for a further one and a half hours. SB journey back to city took about 45 mins.
In the stadium, there were only two (large) kiosks selling food and drink – I queued for one and a half hours to get two burgers (which were average, at best) and two medium bottles of water, paying 28 Euros for the ‘privilege’.
Apart from all of this, we really did have truly wonderful and memorable trip – probably only because we won the CL.

12th June 2023 at 7:54 pm in reply to: Champions League Final 2023 ⚽️ Man City V Inter Milan 🏆10-06-8pm #207407Arrived back home a couple of hours ago – what a weekend, best of my life, along with when my son was born.
What made it extra special was that he was there to share it with me – he sobbed like a baby at the final whistle, which then set me off.
It was brilliant from the minute we stepped off the plane, although UEFA did their very best to f**k it up (but I’ll share that with you in another post). The City fans outnumbered the Inter fans pretty much 2/3 to 1 in the city, although that could be down to them coming in just for the match due to their relatively shorter distance to travel._____________________________

Alfie, I (a City fan) have already said (above) that it was a handball under the current rule. My ‘gripe’ was with the current rule not the decision._____________________________

5th June 2023 at 10:52 am in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207273Agree entirely Ed, absolute “scumbags”.
My late-Dad was a Busby Babe in the 1950’s – played in two FA Youth Cup winning teams in 1954 and 1955 for United – he was pencilled in to fly out to Belgrade as part of the squad for that fateful away trip. However, Geoff Bent, the reserve full back passed a late fitness test before they departed and went in place of my Dad – sadly, Geoff was one of the players that lost his life – ‘There but for the grace of God’ eh?. Anyway as a result, I’ve never entertained such low life behaviour (chants about Munich, Hillsborough, Heysel, etc) and where safe to me, always tried to ‘educate’ individuals who resort to this._____________________________

4th June 2023 at 2:39 pm in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207261Alfie – when United were the team to be awarded the most pens (a few years back), my Red mates informed me that if you spend the most time in the opponents box, then the law of averages states, your bound to get more penalties.

4th June 2023 at 2:35 pm in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207260Hi PPT. There are 12 of us going out (all got tickets) and making our way there in small groups on various routes. Myself, my Son and two of his mates are flying from Heathrow at 10:10 on Thursday evening, direct to Istanbul. We’ve got B&B at a city centre hotel, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights along with three others in our group. The other five are staying at a hotel about 5 mins walk from ours. Can’t wait.
As you say, “living the dream….”_____________________________
