Another joke decision by UEFA officialdom – red card all day long. Why have VAR if you’re not going to use it properly?

Yes CM, everyone now accepts VARs implementation is utter sh**e. ?

Yeah Sean, you’re right, just watching the match again (went yesterday) I may have been a bit harsh on Walker. Hopefully Laporte is not too far off now and that should make a big difference; even Stones plays a lot better with a dominant CH alongside him

Now my ‘depression’ has lifted after yesterday’s game I thought it time to give my thoughts. Congrats to United, a thoroughly deserved win. Blitzed us on the break, especially first half (could easily have gone in at ht 3/4 up) and defended well in the second.
As for us, don’t think we played that badly overall but defending was dire. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but Fernandinho, although capable at CB, is far better in the holding MF role where he reads the game so well and gives protection to the back four – I’d have played Rodri alongside Stones. Angelino is garbage and Walker needs to relearn how to defend properly.
The big question is, why have United got results against the better sides and struggle against the ‘weaker’ teams? My take is that they have serious pace up front – Martial, Rashford, James – and when they play against teams that like to attack, they take advantage and can break with speed. They struggle against sides that like to sit back because they have very little in the way of creativity and when dominant in possession find it very tough to break teams down. If United want to be challenging for the big titles once again, this is the area they will have to look to make signings in._____________________________

Mak, I repeat (just in case you missed it) “Still too far off for me……………..” ?

Much, much better from us but one swallow doesn’t make a summer and we need to follow that up with a convincing win on Saturday.
Moved the ball quicker, crisper passing, broke with pace and closed down the Clarets at the right times. Rodri mom for me and relieved any potential threats in front of the defence, calm on the ball and passed with assurance – something we lack when Gundogan sits there.
Still too far off for me but December could be a massive month in respect of where the title ends up._____________________________

Certainly easier than than it could have been. If we get through (as group winners), potential first ko game v. runner up in Germany/France/Portugal group

Not sure I understood the last part of the draw but England to face Croatia, Czech Republic and potentially Scotland.
Group F includes Portugal, France and Germany._____________________________

You’ve won quite a few games this season without playing that well – certainly a sign of champs.
I also said you were good._____________________________

30th November 2019 at 5:01 pm in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #54940There is an old saying in football, “if you can’t be good, be lucky”. Unfortunately for the rest of the PL, Liverpool are both.

30th November 2019 at 2:38 pm in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #54906Not like me to concede this early in the season but that’s the title gone – defensively we’re not up to it and missing chances that we’d normally bury, even when not at our best.
Just hope we get Laporte back in time for the CL ko stages coz that’s our only chance of landing a ‘big one’ this season. We’re also missing Sane who gives us something different from wide positions, being able to stretch the very defensive teams that we’re (understandably) facing nearly every week now._____________________________

All the very best of luck to Max Taylor if he makes his debut for United tomorrow teatime.

It was very quiet in the first half but noise picked up in the second. Sometimes it’s up to the team to generate the atmosphere with the tempo of their play. Liverpool were very pedestrian in that first half – too slow with sideways and back passing.

Have some objectivity, Mr Balance. And calm down a bit – you’ll still go through.
Just fyi, fouls committed; Liverpool 15, Napoli 5. This makes a bit of a mockery of your previous posts._____________________________

Mav, I know mate, just picked up on your post, which I assume is a typo:

Not sure even Arsenal are stupid enough to appoint Ole, Mav ?

Agree entirely Brian. Perhaps you should have started a ‘City Going Forward’ thread.

Agree with Threeps on this one. The tweet was not meant to be racist but it was a bit naive to post it on social media. He should have sent it by private text.
