27th February 2020 at 12:15 pm in reply to: Carabao Cup Final Villa v City 4:30pm ko. Live on Sky. #77546Totally agree about Garcia and Foden, Brian, it would be good to see and a great experience for them. However, I donβt see Pep playing them both from the start; he usually plays a strong and experienced line-up, especially in finals. Garcia probably has the best chance, with the latest injury to Laporte β hope itβs only short term.
Villa will be up for this. I donβt get people saying weβll smash them, partly on the back of our 6-1 win against them a few weeks ago. Remember we beat Chelsea 6-0 (sorry CFC fans) a couple of weeks prior to last years final and the same was suggested then. Look how that turned out, 0-0 with us only winning on penalties and Chelsea arguably the better team for much of that game.
Anyway, good news, my ticket finally arrived this morning and now looking forward to another great day out at Wembley._____________________________

26th February 2020 at 10:13 pm in reply to: Champions League and Naughty Clubs: Round of 1/16 and 2/16 #77071You’re correct Adders, it’s only ht. However, fantastic performance from the team on the field and particularly Pep, he got his tactics spot on. And to come back from 1-0 down showed wonderful character. Just a shame about Laporte, hope it’s not too bad – at least he walked off the field.

City team:
Ederson, Walker Mendy, Otamendi, Laporte, Rodri, Gundogan, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Jesus, Bernardo.I wouldn’t have predicted that line-up but in Pep we trust.

Yes, it could take months but I feel both parties will want this concluded sooner rather than later, and certainly by June/July.

Cheers Nine.
Already pretty nervous. After all the crap over the last couple of weeks, this is the ONE I really now want to win._____________________________

26th February 2020 at 9:27 am in reply to: Champions League and Naughty Clubs: Round of 1/16 and 2/16 #76640Wish I had your confidence, Sean….. but then again, it’s the old City fan mentality in me – if it can go wrong, it will go wrong.

I think we’ll see quite an entertaining game tonight but it’s one that could turn into a bit of a stalemate, similar to the last time we played them in the ko stage – neither team will want to be ‘out of it’ going into the second leg – 0-0 wouldn’t surprise me.
I feel them losing Hazard can only be a plus for us but my big fear is Benzema, still a quality striker and Laporte needs to be on top of his game. If we can win the MF battle, stopping the supply, that should be the platform to getting a decent result.

23rd February 2020 at 10:17 am in reply to: Week 27: Turn it on at HT and turn it right off again… #73639Just noticed in ‘Premier League Fixtures’ on right hand side of menu page, the AV v Sheff Utd fixture kos at midnight on Saturday, 29 Feb – I don’t think it’ll be the most entertaining game but that’s not on ???.

23rd February 2020 at 10:09 am in reply to: Week 27: Turn it on at HT and turn it right off again… #73632Yeah Brian, watched on MotD last night, and although marginal, Ederson did get to the ball before Iheanacho.

22nd February 2020 at 9:36 pm in reply to: Week 27: Turn it on at HT and turn it right off again… #73566Very entertaining game at the KingPower, football played the way it should be – both teams going for it.
I think City (M) just shaded it and deserved the three points. Leicester perhaps unlucky not to get a penalty.
Threeps, I actually thought Ederson got to the ball first, punching it into Iheanacho’s head. As a result, I don’t think there’s any case for a penalty or sending off. I’ll watch again on MotD and if I’m wrong I’ll be on later to admit as much._____________________________

Isn’t this exactly the amendment Graeme Souness was suggesting a few weeks back on Sky Sports.

Ok Mak, apologies for not making this absolutely clear but I’m NOT connecting the conspiracy thing with or as an excuse for breaking a UEFA rule – I feel the two are separate issues.
I’ve already stated/accepted that we’ve been found guilty of breaking the rule and punished accordingly. UEFA have acted as rule maker, judge, jury and executioner and therefore, as a result, City now have the right to appeal. Having supported MY club through thick, thin and even thinner for around 50 years, I would want them to take the appeal as far as possible but (again, as I’ve previously stated) not on the grounds of a technicality (hacked emails), only if they have hard evidence that the rule was not broken.I still think there is something in the conspiracy theory – you only have to look at some of the diabolical (pre-VAR) decisions that have gone against us in CL games – three of them in the tie against you guys a couple of years ago. (not going to comment any further on this))
I also have an issue with UEFAs stated reasons as to why the rule was introduced in the first place. I’m not going over that again but it’s detailed in one of my previous posts on this tread.
