“Thatβs the issue though, if you say what you feel about the club, the fans on here will feel itβs an attack on them…..” Mak from two days ago.
Not sure they feel it’s an attack on them but everyone has the right to defend their club Mak. I’m sure you’ll agree, as your previous histrionics on this site prove that if anyone says anything negative about Liverpool, you post a response quicker than you can say ‘Klopp’s taking a sabbatical’._____________________________

I don’t post on here as much as I used to. Looking at some of the comments on this thread, my decision appears merited.

HT at West Ham, 0-0
If Carlsberg did halves of football, that certainly wouldn’t be one of them – dire._____________________________

9th December 2023 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 16 – Shocks and Surprises? #211265Another ridiculous VAR overturn for the fourth Bournemouth goal. The ball did glance his hand but that was caused by the keeper following through his attempted clearance. If anything it should be a penalty.

Newcastle, City, Liverpool a couple of years ago.

Yes Ed, the stats don’t lie. However, there are other factors that may ‘influence’ the stats – the team you’re playing, injuries, momentum of the opposition, momentum of your team, playing at home/away, etc. There is an old saying, ‘there are lies, damn lies and statistics’. But as you pointed out there is a stark difference, so far, playing with and without Rodri.

Well done Villa, thoroughly deserved the 3 points – bossed us for pretty much the full game, which is almost unheard of under Pep. The score line actually flattered us.
It’s good to hear all the so-called pundits saying City are in crisis again (we hear it almost every season around this time of the year). I’m sure Pep is concerned but he won’t panic and we trust him to get it right. After all we’re only 6 points behind the leaders.
Alvarez needs a rest, I’m pretty sure he’s played every game for us this season. On Saturday, I’d play Grealish in his role and have Doku wide left. I’d also have Stones back in defence alongside Dias and Ake at left back. Rodri to come back in and the rest of the team picks itself._____________________________

26th November 2023 at 5:30 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 13!!! – The Hard Slog Over :-) #210983I know what you mean about Everton Sean but apart from the 15 mins (which were fairly even), they should be leading this comfortably. Doesn’t say much for our red neighbours.

26th November 2023 at 5:28 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 13!!! – The Hard Slog Over :-) #210982What a goal by Garnacho – Goal of the Season right there. That apart, totally abject from United….Everton could easily be 3/4-1 up.
Btw, did I hear the presenter on SS1 say United were the form team? Did anyone else hear it? If so, on what is it based?_____________________________

25th November 2023 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 13!!! – The Hard Slog Over :-) #210949Don’t think either team played well enough to warrant all three points – City marginally better as the stats prove.
Missed two good chances at the start of the second half which, had we taken one, would have been enough.
Having watched it again, having got back home, really don’t the Dias goal should have been disallowed. To my mind Akanji jumped with Alisson (not into), having initially been pushed by him; yes, he had his hand on his shoulder but never enough to send Alisson tumbling – very weak ‘keeping by Alisson. Refs still giving any benefit to the keepers. I’m sure if the goal had been given on field, VAR wouldn’t have overruled._____________________________

20th November 2023 at 11:04 pm in reply to: Internationals – European Championship Qualifying Games #210892Just a few observations from tonight’s (‘non-event’):
Phil Foden MoM – technically our best player for at least a generation (probably since Gazza).
Smart debut from Rico Lewis – I can’t remember him getting caught in possession or misplacing a pass for the whole game – quite something for an 18 yo making his debut, away from home in a competitive international.
Abject performance from the referee and VAR official, never a penalty. That apart, refs overall showing was very poor._____________________________

Hadn’t seen it Ed. But I can see why some fans of other clubs would have suspicions. And I agree, it needs to be more transparent.

Very good post Ed.
I do think ETH got it so wrong today. As I mentioned earlier, one thing you have to do to stand any chance against us is keep the gaps between back four, MF three and front three, tight (max of 20 yards), otherwise we will just play through you at ease, which is basically what happened, certainly in the second half._____________________________

So, so easy. I almost felt embarrassed for United (only almost).
ETH hasn’t got a clue how to deal with us (not the only manager I hasten to add). There were far too big a gap between United’s back four, MF 3 and front 3, leaving City to basically do what they wanted.
If it hadn’t been for Onana, it could easily have been another cricket score._____________________________
