I think the closest the table has finished in the last 10 years was the 13/14 season when Liverpool stumbled at the end. Off memory there was 4 points between 1st and 3rd but Chelsea, who finished 3rd weren’t really genuine contenders from what I recall and sort of made a late rally that skewed the standings.

I’ve gotta say this title race is going to be thrilling! I can’t remember the last time 3 clubs were genuinely this neck and neck in it.
I’m really admiring Chelsea. Tuchel seems to have them purring like a well oiled machine. So hard to break down. I’m tipping them to take out the league this season. They seem to have so much depth in their squad

Jesus Ed! You’re really against Poch hey! You make mention that he had the world’s best striker to call upon. Kane had scored 3 premier league goals before Poch arrived!!!! 3 Goals!!!!! Had been loaned out left right and centre!

I think judging Poch negatively purely based on his time at Spurs is really unfair. He genuinely took them from being a bottom half team to challenging for the title. He brought in unknowns (Son) and he brought through youth. Had he been backed with more serious player investment who knows what he could have achieved. He’s also still so young managerially and still learning so to be performing at the level he is at his age is impressive IMO. Whilst he was at Spurs he turned them into my second team.If he finds his home he could become an institution at a club, similar to Fergie and Wenger

Lucky, you’re not saying anything I, nor Pagan have already said. He was sacked in the slang term but not in ther legal term.

F#ck me! You’re getting caught in a matter of semantics! The term “sacked” is one bandied around by the football press and culture when in reality (legally), rarely does it happen. It has become such a cultural term in football that it has now been widely used by the managers themselves. Pagan is 100% correct. Ole was not sacked. He had his contract paid out. Nine, sometimes this doesn’t need the entirety of your contract to be paid out if both parties agree. In most cases in football where no one likes to burn bridges they do this amicably and without much conflict, rarely are tribunals involved. If club statements came out stating a manager was “sacked” you can bet your bottom dollar it would go to arbitration. Sacking someone has to involve some form of misconduct or lack of performance against very strict KPIs. Man U would not be able to claim this yet as Ole could argue he could have still achieved his KPIs (they could still technically win the PL, they are not out of the CL (yet) etc). He was shit at this point of the season in the last 2 seasons but still finished wit a wet sail and so he would point to that legally.

For all the comments I’m seeing online about him, I really don’t get it. So many saying he steadied a sinking ship and left Man U in a better position than he joined. How so exactly? Did they win anything under him? No. Did they win anything under the previous manager? Yes. Is the dressing room better? Irrelevant as anyone coming in has to essentially start again from scratch.
He should have only been what he was brought on as, the caretaker manager. The whole feel good factor was never going to last under a clueless manager. Soon enough players, fans and board would lose patience and essentially what has happened is Man U have lost 3 years and are no better off.I said it a few months ago and I’ll say it again. If Man U’s aim is to see out the season then appoint someone long term, Guus Hiddink is the perfect candidate. Has a track record of doing this with semi-decent squads and achieving brilliant results. Players also like playing under him.

I remember doing a comparison of international opponents Rooney and Kane had scored against just after the recent Euros and tbh I don’t remember there being that much of a difference in quality of opposition.
The recent stat showing that Kane is England’s leading scorer in non-friendlies is a bit of a red-herring in that Kane barely plays any friendlies as FIFA have almost removed them from the schedule with the Nations League in the last 3-4 years. Therefore Kane gets to play more competitive internationals than any of his predecessors did.
Either way, you can only score against and beat who is put in front of you and Kane’s numbers don’t lie.

I think this is both the perfect club and timing for Gerrard to make this move. The expectations will be to finish mid-table, which with that squad should be very achievable. From there he will have the summer to make the changes he wants and hopefully build further.
This is of course just a nursery for him to be the long-term Klopp replacement. A far better approach to management development than Arteta, Ole and Frankie had before taking huge roles they were never qualified for nor prepared for.

So here is the big question we should all be asking. Is Pep just happy to keep the scoreline as is and let Manure have the ball to keep Ole in the job?

There is no doubt in my mind ROnaldo is masking the problem at United. He both causes a problem Ole can’t seem to fix (as in how do you fit him in and defend) but also he bails them out with goals no one else would score. I mean, the goal against Spurs at the weekend, there really aren’t any other players in the world that will score that goal. At the other end, Son (who in my mind is an outstanding player) had a tight chance and puts it wide. I suppose my point is, if those situations were inversed the game plays out very differently and the difference is Ronaldo. Imagine the world of shit United would be in right now if he wasn’t there?

This decision is blatantly a race to secure a better (and available) manager before someone else snaps them up (Barca, Newcastle, Man U). I’m sure if those positions weren’t already vacant (or soon to be) Spurs would have given him more time.
Thing is, by all accounts the last two managers were not popular in the dressing room, not sure how much better Conte will be._____________________________

Rodgers to Barca? Hahahahaha, as if!
This does now force a few arms at Newcastle and Man U though. If they wait too long to sack Ole their potential suitors may take the Barca role

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer walks into a bank to cash a cheque. As he approaches the cashier he says, “Good morning, Ms could you please cash this cheque for me?”
Cashier:“It would be my pleasure. Could you please show me your ID?”
Solskjaer:“Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn’t think there was any need to. I am Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manager of Manchester Unitedβ.
Cashier: “Yes, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of impostors and forgers and requirements of the legislation, etc., I must insist on seeing ID.”
Solskjaer: Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am.”
Cashier: “I am sorry, Mr Solskjaer but these are the bank rules and I must follow them.”
Solskjaer: “Come on please, I am urging you, please cash this cheque.”
Cashier: “Look sir, here is an example of what we can do. One day, Tiger Woods came into the bank without ID. To prove he was Tiger Woods he pulled out his putter and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a cup. With that shot we knew him to be Tiger Woods and cashed his cheque.”
“Another time, Andre Agassi came in without ID. He pulled out his tennis racket and made a fabulous shot where the tennis ball landed in my cup. With that shot we cashed his cheque. So, sir, what can you do to prove that it is you and only you?”Solskjaer stands there thinking and thinking and finally says, “Honestly, my mind is a total blank…there is nothing that comes to my mind. I can’t think of a single thing. I have absolutely no idea what to do. I don’t have a clue.”
Cashier: “Will that be large or small notes , Mr Solskjaer?β
