I was just kidding. I actually really like Werner and agree he provides so much more to your team. I do genuinely believe that once he gets on a run he will be unstoppable.

I don’t really rate Conte, I think he got lucky with great timing with his league win. Both he and Ranieri were fortunate that the league in those two years lacked any real front-runner club. Pretty much every team was in transition period. City and Liverpool had only just appointed Klopp and Pep and needed a couple of seasons just to get their revolution clicking. Man U and Arsenal were still the basket case, Spurs were only just begnning their foray into the top 4. Those two seasons created the perfect storm for a team to find a rich vein of form and keep it going. I know that sounds very simplistic and in reality it’s not an easy thing to do.

Imagine what you could do with that money though Nine! You could buy three more Werners with that!!!

I really don’t see a player like Harland fitting into a Pep system. Harland’s key attributes are his speed and strength, not really the attributes of a striker Pep has sought. Kane on the other hand I think would fit beautifully into a Pep system

Yeah, I’m looking puzzled at the players playing in that game. Why on earth would you bother playing players you cut only 24 hours earlier from the squad???? Surely the focus would be to get the group of players you want to perform smoothly as a team ready for a major tournament.
It makes absolutely no sense to me_____________________________

If you’re French, Zidane to PSG makes absolutely no sense. He’s a Marseille boy and they absolutely hate PSG with a passion. I’d say he has more chance of going to Juve.

Congrats to Chelsea fans! I suspected a while back you might do a number on them. Gotta say, I think Rudiger was really lucky to get away with what he did on KDB. Reminded me of Ramos on Salah.

Bellingham isn’t a defensive mid though from what I’ve seen. All the games I’ve seen him play in the Bundesligue he’s played in a far more attacking position.
Yeah, Mount is a tough one but it comes down to the formation. Southgate has pretty much committed himself to the 3 CBs and then likes to have three up front. For that you need two defensively minded mids. I just don’t see where Mount fits into that as I don’t think he’s a wide player.I think Mount is far more suited to a 10 role, which Southgate doesn’t tend to play. Otherwise I would sub him out for Sterling.
On Ward-Prowse, I really like him. He’s box to box and a bit different from the other mids in that squad. He’s also quite possibly the best set-piece taker in the world right now and we all know how important set-pieces were at the last WC.
I just don’t see how you can leave Trippier behind, TTA has only decided to start playing in the last month_____________________________

Looking at the 33 named and having to drop 7 players from that list I would drop:
Ramsdale (surprised he even made the squad)
Godfrey (same as above)
Greenwood
Henderson (not fit)
TTA (would rather James, Trippier or Walker in that role, no point taking 4 right backs)
Bellingham
WatkinsMy ideal line up would be:
Henderson
Walker – Mings – Maguire – Stones – Chilwell
Ward-Prowse – Rice
Sterling – Kane – Foden_____________________________

I personally think Southgate would work well as an Asst Manager in the Eng set up under a more tactically astute manager. What he has done in terms of morale and belief for this England squad has not been rivalled since Venables IMO. It seems players no longer dread playing for England, which was a huge factor in that Golden Generation team. The foreign coaches we have had had all the tactical acumen and credibility in the world, however from all reports they didn’t understand the culture and so performances were crap.

I do think we are going to see a Kante display for the ages. When that guy has the bit between his teeth he is on another planet to everyone else energy wise

I think this is going to be a really interesting final. Ever since Chelsea beat City they have faced teams that have defended deep and they’ve really struggled to break them down and exposed a bit of a weakness in their team. Now there is no way Pep is going to set his team up to defend deep (one would assume he has learned from his mistake against Lyon last season). So this should play more into Chelsea’s favour. The big question is whether Chelsea can regain that attacking form they found themselves in before they played the defensive teams.
