I think City are going to trounce us in this game. We are a shambles defensively at the moment. I’ve heard Evans will be fit again after this week but I’m assuming he’s not going straight into 90 mins of game time. Without him we have just looked clueless.

Well, I know I’m biaised, but I really do think we’ve had the best bang-for-buck transfer window of all the teams. We’ve spent a total of 55m and got the following in:
Patson Daka – 23m
Boubakary Soumare – 17m
Jannik Vestergaard – 15m
Ademola Lookman – Loan
Ryan Bertrand – Free_____________________________

Been saying that for ages. I don’t know who in their right mind would go there. Only managers I could see take it on are ones who have a point to prove or maybe haven’t managed at that level before but certainly not a well-decorated manager.

Manure should have been spanked! Wolves were like that against us too. Chance after chance after chance with no end product.
I think DVB needs to get in on Fred’s protection racket and get some compromising pics of his own of Ole because I cannot for the life of me see what Ole sees in Fred. He is a terrible footballer!!!!_____________________________

Ole has no excuses now. Anything short of winning the league and he should be sacked

I can see Chelsea doing a number on Liverpool, especially down the flanks. I suspect they will defend deep and rely on their speed down the flanks to catch out TAA and Tsimikas

International football for Pep will be the ultimate test imo. Any nation that takes him on will have to back him for the long haul IMO. His football philosphy and tactics will be even harder to implement in international football where you can’t just sign a the best player in the position you want, nor and this is the most important part I think, do you have that much time with your group of players to instill your playing style.
Remember how long it took him to get that City team playing at their best and that was with an open cheque book. I’ve always been a big believer that the best international coaches are those who are the best man-managers and know how to build a good team spirit as you just don’t get long enough with your players to make a system work seamlessly.

honestly, I hate seeing such a bastion of a club go through complete disintegration like this. It’s being mismanaged on the field and off

I just really don’t see who in their right mind would take on that role. An in demand manager wouldn’t go near them I would think, unless they had the most incredible offer and ridiculous backing and financial support to rebuild. In my opinion, the only type of manager who I think would go there is one who has a point to prove and probably recently sacked. Not exactly a desirable situation for a club the size of Arsenal.
I said it when they appointed Arteta that they should have gone after Ancelotti instead. Of the three ex-player managers appointed around that time, Arteta seems to be the one most out of his depth, Franky and Ole at least competeted at right end of the table._____________________________

I knew we’d lose this game. Hammers have been our bogie team since Rodgers joined. Plus the number of fricking injuries we have in our backline right now is mental. I predicted we’d lose this 3-0, I suppose I got the aggregate right. We need Evans back asap

Mistra, are you being facetious? Grealish MoM? He did absolutely nothing noteworthy in the game apart from scoring a really flukey goal. Hell, if that is qualification for genius status then the league is full of them.

Sean, pretty sure the two keepers on the bench is now a UEFA requirement, certainly was the case during the Euros.
Tsimikas is some player! Robertson, who?

That’s why I like this site versus others. Being a Leicester City supporter, there just doesn’t appear to be football forums to discuss football in general. The TT team pages are largely a joke (for all teams) as the one-eyed tribal posters descend into cheap insults and chaos and most of the posters seem incapable of having rational discussion. It is actually possible to have differing opinions without needing to resort to insults and vulgarities. This place is also refreshing from the facebook pages for teams as they are flooded with player-mercenary supporters from nations who have no interest in your club and just follow the player from their native country. They offer nothing in terms of club discussion or insight and just question why the only famous player from their country isn’t getting picked in your team. Sadly, this was why I was actually happy to see Mahrez leave us. The incessant crap from his Algerian-Nationalist followers on our pages was tiring.

that’s a good point, however that is more of a result of the problems Ole had with them starting games really badly. Many teams go a goal down and come back from it and granted ManU did that very well last season. My point is more that those two players go awol against the big teams when they should be standing up and showing what they are made of.
In the 10 league games against the other top 6 teams from last season the stats for those two players look like this:
Fernandes: 3 goals (2 pens), 2 assists
Pogba: 0 goals, 0 assistsIn arguably their biggest game of the season, the EL final, they went completely missing.

Yeah, I’m similar to Mak on Pogba. I find him to be a “good time” player and I’m wondering whether Bruno is the same. Basically when things are good in the team, they are beautiful to watch and dominate. When the chips are down and you want your senior players to pull the rest of the team up with them and lead by example, they go completely missing. That, for me is the difference between very good players and world class players and why I don’t believe Utd will be mounting a serious title challenge as they need more battle-hardened players. I only see Maguire as having those qualities in that team.

probably controversial view here, but I actually think that Wenger left Arsenal in a stronger position (players-wise) than Fergie did with United. That united team had not had much in terms of player investment in the couple of years prior to his retirement. The writing was on the wall when he last won the league, that united team was shipping a stupid amount of goals and really, in my opinion Van Persie almost single-handedly won them the league.
When Wenger left, there was still a considerable amount of quality players left. The fact that subsequent managers have been unable to get the best out of them is testament to Wenger’s ability as a manager (as the above was to Fergie). I personally didn’t think Emery was doing too bad a job but obviously this wasn’t good enough. The problem is, Arsenal gambled that they could get better when in fact they’ve got considerably worse! Arteta is well and truly out of his depth, he seems to think he can be Pep 2.0 and achieve Pep’s style with inferior players. As Nine said, I can’t see any decent manager going anywhere near Arsenal at the moment, same goes for players. It’s a shambles_____________________________

Son was very good and I do love him. Never seems to get the attention he deserves. However, yesterday the best player on the pitch was Moura. A complete menace from start to finish

also, being a number 2 in charge is a completely different role and often different skillsets

Pep was less of a gamble in what was a 2 horse race league and an open cheque book club though. Arsenal were coming off the back of being a team sliding down the league and becoming more and more irrelevant and then announced a completely unproven manager. That’s madness imo
