It got a bit scrappy in the second half, but all in all a good game.
Interesting thing is I felt all three of our goals were quality, and both of theirs were scrappy. I mean, Vardy just happening to be standing where the ball deflects….some people would say knowing where to be but the bugger was lucky!
Anyway, my man of the match was actually Henderson. If he he can show that drive and aggression in every match he will take that extra step he needs to become a true favourite.

I agree, he was immense today.
Unlike some though, I am a big fan of Henderson. I think he cops an unfair amount of the criticism when the team does not perform, and does a lot of the 1% plays that get no credit.

Welcome Bee!
Yeah I agree Mak, I would play him in the League games to get his head straight…though what about Ward? He played well through the play offs when on loan….surely he gets a chance in the cups?

That is fair.
I think Migs has improved, TAA and Gomez are coming on, Matip is definitely worth it, and Robertson looks the goods.
Shame Sakho and Klopp broke down.
As for Moreno, I have been really impressed with him. Happy to give him a chance as all players grow and learn….how old is he now?_____________________________

Totally Agree
Also, Moreno should stay. He had a bad season, worked his ass off and is playing really well. Surely a player deserves a chance to prove himself after working so hard?

The only reason we should sell Coutinho is if we pick up VVD and Keita…that is it.
Just watched the game, I was also amused that the commentators spent a lot of time saying how crap Arsenal were playing instead of how high energy and deadly Liverpool were lol.
Thought Henderson, Winjaldum and Moreno all played really well. Can was outstanding. Matip and Lovren looked very focused.
That may be the most important thing for Lovren and Moreno, keeping them focused!
As before, Mane and Salah were great, also think Firmino has stepped up a notch this season.
Gomez was a little hidden, think TAA has been better, but glad he got a run.
Awesome that Sturridge got a goal! Confidence player will start knocking more in I hope….Now as for Karius….WTF?! Is that guy suffering severe anxiety or something? Three times…THREE…he almost gave the ball away from nothing. Talk about a nerve killer.

I don’t mind playing one or two big teams, the whole team lifts for those games, and the whole reason Europe is great is to see those teams play yours.
In saying that lets at least get a few wins eh!
Oh yeah Beni, he was pulled apart!

Was very impressed with our attack sans Lallana and Coutinho!
Mane was great as always, Firmino too. Can just kept getting into the right spots and Salah causing trouble…
What a revelation Trent has been!
Thought Moreno played well, except lost his concentration with that weird slide across the ball to open us up, same with Migs and the weird blunder drop.
Like to give a special mention to Hendo, who showed just how valuable he is when he is fearless and up for it. Bossed the midfield, ran like a champion and made the last goal out of determination.

24th August 2017 at 2:12 am in reply to: Echo reporting Coutinho to Barcelona interest has ceased #4166IMO it is just too late to sell him now. He needs to be a professional and get on with it.
I also think the money is irrelevant, and yes if Coutinho goes next summer for less that is fine, as we would hopefully have pulled more out of him anyway. Will be interesting to see if he still wants to go if Liverpool have a good season and Barcelona does not. (Which signs are pointing to)
As to the manner in which Barcelona have conducted themselves. Has anyone else noted the spat going on between them and Neymar, and how every club is telling them to get stuffed?

22nd August 2017 at 12:11 am in reply to: Echo reporting Coutinho to Barcelona interest has ceased #4087For me he has been manipulated by a greedy agent and an arrogant club. With a bit of time he will see that and be back to play.
Besides which, there is no point sulking, it just means he will get to play less and miss the WC_____________________________

Hey Oz,
Yeah I agree. he is very skillful but he does just bring more of the same style of play. I would like it if he went further towards hard nosed DM or flair player, but he is more all round.
I do like his occasional bits of magic, and the fact that he keeps the midfield ticking, and that he has a great engine. It is no coincidence that we have better results with hi in the side.
I also used to be doubtful about Can, but he has really stepped up when he got a settled role and could be a champion of the club if we keep him.

Yeah, it doesn’t help that Couts has been out and Lallana injured! two game switchers right there

Hey Oz,
Me too! Especially as they are our bogey side.
I think Hendo does not get enough credit for keeping the ball and adding stability to the midfield. He is caught a bit in Gerrard’s memory, who was constantly trying (and getting) killer balls game for game. Hendo does them, but without the same consistency.
I am in Melbourne at the moment, you?

Interesting info Beni.
Klopp is all about team team team, so maybe he has seen some cracks in Couts that we are not privy to. The owners would see Couts as a status symbol, a WC player at the club….as do the supporters.
Honestly it is not the end of the world, he does have an edge but we can definitely play without him. (In saying that, I really want him to stay)As for Moreno, I agree. He can be a bit mental, but I still think he has the potential to play well. Now that I have seen Robertson’s debut though, I would play him over Moreno when possible for the PL etc

Hey guys,
Being from Oz I use http://firstrowau.eu/…..not sure how it would run in other places, need an adblocker, but it is pretty good.
On the game, I really liked Robertson, quite a few dangerous crosses and looked assured after a nervy start.
Henderson looked good against a stifling midfield, couple of good balls.
Mane impressive as always.
Good to see Gomez get a run.
Firmino looks happier playing through the centre.
Did not see Winjaldum really.
Matip was great for me, my MoM. Won a few duels and stayed on top of it, snuffed out a few runs. Very happy._____________________________

Cheers guys, glad to be here.
Yeah like I said, it is all about the timing. It shows a lack of respect that Barcelona are just trying to bully us into selling. I do understand the food chain, but for me there are differences in our approach.
With VVD, once Southampton got miffed and told us to back off, we backed off. With Keita and RBL, we tried a couple of bids and they were knocked back so we moved on. All this was done EARLY in the window.
Anyway, it almost a matter of principle now. With Suarez we let him go no worries for good money because he had already given us an extra year out of loyalty. He did things the right way by being open about his plans and giving plenty of notice. Couts has had his head turned and the timing is terrible. Suck it up.
As for Moreno I watched all the pre-season games and he was great. Surely there is a time that a players past gets left behind and they get on? I understand that he is a bit volatile but he was not to blame at Watford and he seems to have worked his butt off to get back into the team.
Cheers

Just saw that they rejected a bid for 118.
I feel a bit for all parties here, but I am glad that FSG have dug their heels in.
Yes Coutinho may be unhappy (and I guess it is up to Klopp to get the best out of him if he stays) but when it comes down to it, if Liverpool stick by their guns, that means that they have resisted the Barcelona hype machine.By that I mean the seemingly irresistible lure of huge money, playing for Barca and Spanish media pressure. How many times have we seen the newspapers there saying the deal is done, Barca have their man etc etc, just to turn a players head and unsettle them. It is bloody infuriating.
When RB refused to sell us Keita no matter the money, we suddenly realised that we would have to wait until he was available. I am hoping Barcelona do the same when we say no. It is about respect and realising that Liverpool do not have to sell to them.
For me I do not mind if a star moves on, it is modern football, as long as the club has time to sound out and get a replacement. We all remember Andy Carroll the panic buy? This would be a repeat of that, it is patently stupid for the interested parties to expect us to agree when we have no time to adjust. THAT is literally the only reason I am disappointed in Coutinho over this whole thing, because he knows that and is choosing to be selfish.

Suarez for me!
Loved watching Torres when he was at his peak but even when Suarez was thinking of leaving he was chasing, harassing, and turning games on their head.
Sometimes I get all wistful thinking how perfect he would have been with Klopp in the current system…..
