City fully deserved the win, but I wasn’t overly impressed with them, if that makes sense.
United are playing a depleted side. Maguire and Evans are backup CBs, Dalot is 2nd choice RB and Lindelof is a makeshift LB. Casemiro is also missing. Up until that penalty, both sides had their chances.
If you remove Gvardiol, Dias, Stones, Walker and Rodri from that City side. Pep is then relying on scraps and his 4th and 5th choice options. It changes everything.
Saying that, cannot excuse some Uniteds player lacking passion and effort. It is the same old story.

Penalty or no penalty? π€ #MUNMCI pic.twitter.com/Wenmi0g7j7

Here is a image of the incident, Rashford was being held in the same picture. Why didn’t Oliver see that?

Would any other referee given that penalty?
Has Oliver given a penalty like that before? I have seen incidents like that so many times and never seen a penalty given.
If United had state owners and you had PL refs officiating in the state United owners are from. Would there be a big outcry?
I mean look at that Onana incident on the opening PL fixtures and how many similar incidents have been since, yet not a peep. Raya last weekend being an example.
All VAR has exposed is how corrupt the game is. You have a side with 115 charges for financial doping, now wanting to give our PL referees a bigger pay packet for officiating at games in their owners country.

Who would have thought United had a chance considering the amount of injuries they have got to key players, up against a side who starting 11 cost over Β£200m more and who have referees on their owners payroll.
Remember when Rodri was out suspended and people said how badly City missed him. United have a whole back lineup, a DM out injured.
Does not excuse the poor display. But the manager cannot polish a turd.

This wasn’t given btw. Anthony Taylor was the ref that game.

Michael Oliver, a official who is on the UAE payroll is on VAR btw.
Saliba on Hojlund should have been given, if that is given.

City will win convincingly. After watching United’s 1st half performance against Sheffield United and Copenhagen, City will win without getting out of 1st gear.
The performance will be no different to the 1 we saw under Ole before he got sacked, where there will be a lack of effort and passion.
This United squad are a disgrace.

Nicely put Nil
Only English player to win the European Cup, World Cup and Balon d’Or. Survived the Munich air disaster. Did it all and won it all. Took decades for someone to break his goalscoring record for club and country.
His presence at the club and the support he gave during Ferguson early difficult years made the club what it is today. Something the club will never replace.
Remarkable achievement on and off the pitch.
Thank you Sir Bobby for putting smiles on so many faces and not quitting the game when the club needed you the most.
Thoughts go out to his family.
RIP Legend.

This place seems extremely empty at times without nine. We seem to have lost a few Chelsea fans too.
You realise how much of an impact he made on these forums.
Hope you all are well and you can keep his legacy alive.
Bless his soul.

Thought it was a well worked goal by Arsenal. You only have to give credit where it is due.
Your starting 11 cost 350m and your subs bench cost 350m.
Having a few injuries shouldn’t be an excuse, along with having a ref in charge who is on the UAE payroll. because not every side has that luxury.

International break again?
Why have them so close to each other. Momentum can be lost and players could come back injured.

Why spend Β£50m+ on Kalvin Phillips, just to keep him on the bench and not play him when Rodri is unavailable?

Michael Oliver is the same ref who sent Di Maria off for putting his hand on him to get his attention
Yet didn’t have the bottle to send Joe Hart for this
Michael Oliver, who bottled this with Joe Hart & then sends Buffon off, for something less obvious, loves to ruin a game π€·π»ββοΈ pic.twitter.com/pcoUGrBc7D

Arsenal have played 5 at home too.
Think it is down to policing the games at some point United are going to play 2 away games on the trot a number of times.
Brighton will always be a tough fixtures for anyone.
Villa will be a tough place to go.

Mikus-
Between October to March, United played some good football and were winning games convincingly. You cannot judge a side because 3 other sides didn’t turn up.
It is the managers job to motivate the players. They were motivated last season, reason why they got far in 3 cup competitions and ended up 3rd in the league. That is better than what any manager has achieved after Ferguson. So what has changed this season?
Ten Hag cannot babysit Sancho, who was kicked out by Pep and was fined by Dortmund for the very same reason Ten Hag has dropped him for. Sancho has next to no clout in that side, he hasn’t delivered for 3 different managers. Ten Hag gave him time off last season and brought him back. There is only so much he can do. If you create a culture where players can get their way, then no manager can come in and remove that unless he is given time and allowed to. That has an overall impact on the side and who’s fault is that? Ten Hag walked in to that culture and now the players are treating him no different to how they treated Ole, Jose and Van Gaal.

Then you ask the question, why is Ten Hang not getting the results?
People forget Pep struggled during that 1st year in charge, he lost 4 nil to Everton and struggled against a fair few sides. So did Klopp the 1st few years at Liverpool. Didn’t they lose to Wolves in the FA Cup, who were in the championship at the time. But the players were putting a shift in. The United players are not.
I mentioned Rashford earlier. Why has his work rate dropped compared to last season? Is Ten Hag telling him to do that. If players are upset with the way Sancho has been treated and have stopped playing for the manager, then it is pretty much the same old story since Ferguson left.
If the players are putting the effort in and the results are the same, then you can say the manager is not getting something out of the players. But they are not putting the effort in. It is complete contrast to last season and exactly the same fate the previous managers suffered.
I know someone who is a season ticket holder and has been since the late 60s. He says even when United at their worse in the 70s and 80s, they turned up and put a shift in. It was the players were just not good enough. He says this time round, you can tell they are not playing for the badge….it takes a few games for people to see that.
Ten Hag last season came 3rd and helped them win their 1st trophy in 6 years. That is better than what Klopp and Pep accomplished. That should give someone enough authority to prove he is capable.
If Ten Hag gets sacked for this. That is me done with this club. I am not going through another cycle of watching players who are on 300k a week, sulk around and not care. Then they will throw the next manager under the bus.

Mikus-
I don’t know who can come in and make difference. I genuinely believe Pep and Klopp would struggle because it would take them years to fix the problems in place. Pep played it well, he got rid of the egos i.e. Yaya Toure and built a team.
Same with Klopp with Sakho and others.
At United we allowed players like Pogba and Lingard get their way. Now Ten Has is setting an example with Sancho, there are some in the camp who are disappointed with the way he has been treated. So who will win in the end? It will be Sancho, just like Pogba won his battle against Jose.
Rooney once mentioned that after a disappointing defeat, himself and Carrick arrived at training the following day with Lingard and Pogba dancing in the changing room. Would Pep and Klopp ever stand up to that? United did and let them get away with it for so long.
