We’ll agree to disagree, cyber chum, but they’ve always seemed very defensive and hitting on the counter… their very decent recent run I think is just covering over the fact they had a 11-11-4 type record, less than a 40(ish)% win rate with a lot of draws…
Or course, that could have been the plan all along, don’t lose and rack up the points and see what happens in the run-in, and have to admit it’s been effective… but that’s not convincing me they’re a “good” footballing side.

So, Paratici is “off”, not that he had a lot of choice in the matter, and today’s favorite is Vincent Kompany… 🙂
Part of me is kinda hoping we loss Sunday and just get this season over with… then Stellini can go and just let Wee Ryan have a bit of a larff for the last 6 games…

Must admit to not watching a huge amount of their games, but when they beat us at the Lane, they sat there with two banks of 5 for 95% of the match, scored their first goal from a long ball over the top, knocking Hugo flat on his arse, and rolling the ball into an empty net, and their second was a classic counter in the 88th minute (give or take!) when my Spuds were throwing the kitchen sink at them in search of an equalizer.
It was effective, it got them the two points, but wasn’t anything close to good football. They were set up for the draw from the first whistle and if memory serves me correct, Pope got a yellow in the first half for timewasting…

Still reigning chaos at the Lane, with still no idea who’s taking over the hotseat!!
Today’s “favourite” is back to being Brendon “Brent” Rogers… not the worst choice out there but probably ranked about 4/5th on most Spud-lovers lists…. the “best” thing I can think of would be that he would hopefully bring Madison with him, fill possibly the biggest gapping hole in our squad… and also has a style that would be more “appriciated” by us armchair warriors…
Unfortunately, it seems other managers simply don’t understand that the Spud-gig is the greatest gig in the world and seem to be waiting to see what happens to the Real & Jammy Dodgers gigs… (with rumors that PSG might be changing too!)… there loss! Bastards, the lot of ’em!!

As for the Goonies, they’re going a bit Spursy right now!! Lose next week I think they’ll be in big trouble mentally… I think the 64 million dollar question is whether Micky Eyebrows tweaks his team and maybe goes a bit more for the draw…

I’m absolutely convinced that all American owners have one eye on converting the overall sports model in the UK to the same as it is in the states… i.e., not promotion/relegation, salary caps, clubs owning their own TV rights etc….
American “franchises” are all about making a profit first, success second… even the worst teams in the their respective leagues make a substaintial profit year after year after year…
I think the notion that they are simply custodians of a local institutions which have been around for as nearly as long as ‘Merica has is completely lost on them!
(Although Deadpool & Co’ are seemingly bucking that trend I think, I do get the impression they’re really “into it”…)

Anyway, how much “loss” can be claimed from the sanctions?? Some match day revenue perhaps, but the season tickets were already paid for, so was the TV money etc…

Wasn’t picking on the Jammy Dodgers, was being generally insulting to all clubs… 🙂
Although I can predict a legal argument for your lot along the lines of “not our fault, COVID and Government sanctions etc…” when the numbers don’t add up.
At least that’s one thing us Spud-lovers don’t have to worry about, not with owners tighter than a ducks butt running the show.

Really getting confused with all the FFP rules, absolutely thinking the “creators” of such a system are using the “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit” approach.

That’s the thing, Nepolean, nobody really seems to know how the FFP rules “work” these days, certainly not our fellow cyber numpties on here…
Basic principles and a little bit of logic would think you need to get rid of a few in the summer just to start thinking about balancing the books, let alone create room for another splurge (jokes aside, if you lot go out and spend another 200m plus… questions not already being asked will certainly need to be ask with regards to what’s the point of FFP?).
At least we both still have the Mighty Wrexhams!! 🙂

Being vaguely serious, I don’t believe for one minute that nobody at the Jammy Dodgers hadn’t realized they had “forgot” a striker, not a club of that size and with that experience.
Part of me does think the new owners were looking at the “false 9” type of squad, thinking enough quality in the attacking positions with a largish group of players who are all capable of hitting the 10-15 goals a season level would carry them through… a team without a focal point (or a “superstar” up top)… very much of the “moneyball” theory developed in baseball. And combine this with the “baseball” tactic of having pretty much unlimited subs during a basball game and the fairly new introduction of 5 subs in the Prem I can see the reasoning behind their approach… “so this starting 11 isn’t working, let’s change half the team during the match” idea.
Anyway, that’s my theory… and let’s face it, not like the club doesn’t have a history of throwing money at the problem once they discover what the problem is (and I think we can agree what the problem is this season!). Be very surprised if they’re not back in the “Top7” and fighting for a CL spot next season…
