So, new manager, a bunch of new players, and a very new style of play… really have no idea how this is going to work out, either with or without Harry… really is going to be a season of surprises…
Glass Half full… keep Harry and get at least 1 new CB to partner Romero… the style of play seen so far in pre-season surprises everybody in the Prem, and we some how sneak into the Top 4, with Harry winning the golden boot and signing a new contract at Christmas…
Glass Half-Empty… Harry goes all sausage munching, this new style of football is rubbish, Sonny finishes the season as our top scorer with 13 goals, and we sneak 40 points to stay up sometime in March, all glossed over by a surprise appearence in the FA Cup final whereby we lose to Abu Dhabi Sportswashing Campaign but qualify for the Europa League as they won the league… again… and are declared innocent of all crimes against football because somebody on the prosecution signed a document with a blue pen instead of a black pen.

Long way to go but I don’t see anybody breaking into last years Top4, Jammy Todgers are a complete mess with their revolving door policy (might finish strongly!), LiVARberoOol have a completely new midfield to incorporate (again, might finish strongly), and my Spuds are just all over the place anyway… none of those three are going to catch Abu Dhabi Sportswashing Campaign or the Goonies, and I would be surprised if any of them could catch YooUtd or Saudi Arabia Sportswashing Campaign…

Has anybody here actually watched an Al-Bundy League game? Or have any intention too?
I just can’t see how it will work in the long run… and even the Saudi’s will get bored throwing money away eventually. It’s just a rinse and repeat version of what China tried to do.

Of course Saudi want the World Cup, they also have decided they want to have the “best league” in the World, as that would be one up on the Qatari’s who “only” had the World Cup… for a bunch of homophobic countries, there is hell of a lot of willy-waving going on.
But I very much doubt they’ll be invited into the Champions League… and expanded club world cup, so South America can also join in etc… but not the Champions League.

Can’t say for one second the Al-Bundy League is going to put any fizz into my beanz… maybe it will create a large enough “fanbase” to sustain itself eventually, but this house won’t be part of it. It’s all about the Spuds and those teams that happen to be in the same league…

Rather ironically, my company did casually offer me the chance to transfer to Saudi Arabia earlier this year (for 2 year contract)… but they most certainly did not offer 4 times my salary I should add… and I managed to say no to that without too much trouble…
And to be honest, if they did offer me 4 times my salary, I would most certainly think about as it would have a huge impact on my family’s well-being as already mentioned, certainly a bigger impact than it would on a family who are already living a multi-millionaire lifestyle… I would certainly like to think I would say no in the end but can’t really answer that until the question is asked! 🙂

I was wondering when somebody was going to trot out that old chestnut… anyway, I’ll try and explain the issue I have with Henderson’s double standards…
I think it would be fair to assume Henderson was earning around 150k per week, including endorsments etc…, which is somewhere in the region of 150 times my salary, and propably in the region of 250 times the average salary in the UK… this would mean it would take me about 150 years to make Henderson’s yearly earnings, or 250 years for Mr. Average…
Now, 4 times my salary, would probably get me a 3/4 bedroom house compared to my current two bedroom house, probably a 2nd car so the boss and I don’t have share the 1 car we have, my the kid in private school, maybe even a nice Summer cottage over here… fair to say it would improve my life considerably..
Now we get to the Henderson family struggles on 150k a week and are in desperation of 700k a week… I guess he could swap the current 8 bedroom mansion for 12 bedrooms, get that extra Porshe in the seperate 6 car garage buy the swimming pool, an assistant for the assistant/chef/chauffer/etc.., 7/8 holidays a year when he retires instead of the 4/5 now….
So I reckon it’s just a lazy argument to suggest “you would do the same”….
Henderson could very, very easily afford to keep to his word/morals but decided not too, which makes him a Champions League level hyprocrite considering the things that he has said in the past…

Not sure what your point is cyber-chum, Henderson has been very “out-spoken” about it, and now they’ve waved a huge bag of cash under his nose, it’s all good… that is just about a perfect example of what hypocrite means.. as I said, just because “Rainbow Laces” have said it’s okay, doesn’t mean I’m going too…

Watching a reply of the Spuds vs Wet Spam game (as the game against Foxy Ladies in Bangkok is delaye wetness everywhere!) and this is a very different Spuds from the last 3/4 years… chance after chance after chance… I know it’s pre-season and all that (and our defence still doesn’t look brilliant!) but I think we’re going to be a lot more fun to watch at last under Angie…

We all know his bank account is going to look great but what a way to tarnish his legacy with both LIverpool and Engerland… as with all those multi-millionaires topping up their already humungous bank accounts…
Anyway, the absolute most ridiculous transfer rumor in the history of transfer rumors of all time, ever, M’Pappe to Spurs for a season loan… I would say you couldn’t make it up but somebody obviously did.

Obviously I’m baised, but I do think the sausage munchers lastest “statement” is taking the piss to a new level of taking the piss… now I hoping Levy tells them to go and do one… I know all clubs do it behind the scenes, but to release a statement like that? I see Abu “Sports Washing Campaign” Dhabi’s habit of blantantly ignoring the rules in such a public manner is catching…

Hey Waspy, pretty chuffed with Wee Jimmy signing, we’ve been crying out for a player of that ilk ever since Wee Erik departed… not too sure about this new winger (never watched him play for Fulham) but seems to be a Sonny-lite according to those who have so hopefully Sonny will realize he’s got some competition now and up his game.. new goalie who sounds like we might have a bargin… chuck in a couple of new CB’s (at least one!) and I’m starting to feel a little optimistic… obviously we won’t be challanging Abu Dhabi for the title but with the breaks taken off it could be fun at least…

To be fair for Lenglet, I think getting a player of that experience for the supposed fee (might even be free!) isn’t a bad deal at all.. he’s arguably better than Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga… and would be a very decent 3rd choice behind Romero and “A.Nother”, and maybe A.Nothers brother making him 4th choice (and let’s face it, Romero isn’t going to play 38 games a season with suspensions and injuries)…
Can’t say I’m ‘that’ disappointted so far this transfer window… we’re obviously having a bit of a rebuild, and getting in some semi-decent young players… we’re not going to get top draw players, while having no Euro footy…
Top 7 is probably the best we can hope for, maybe a decent run in the cups if we get some favourable draws..
Just hoping we keep Harry… let him go on a free next year, he could practicaly pick any club he wants then!
