Only saw 15 minutes but it looked pretty even to me… with both teams looking quite average.

Just saw the YooUtd line-up… ETH has given up, hasn’t he? Just wants the pay-off… I cannot think of a single rational reason why you would start with you 3rd & 4th (or maybe 4th & 5th choice CB’s when all fit?) for a game before the international break… no reason at all… answers on a postcard for that one… and that’s before we get to a mid-field containing both Bruno and Christian…
Villa will be kicking themselves if they don’t end up with 3 points here…

Apart from the 115 on the opening day of the season, Jammy Todgers haven’t played anybody of note, not even sure they’ve played another current top 10 ten, had the easist start to the season just about possible… their next 4 prem games are Liverpool, Newcatle, YooUtd, Arsenal… let’s see where they are after that lot before we pencil them in as challengers! 🙂

Sounds like the Goonies got the benifit of another decision which could have gone the other way at a crucial stage of the game… again… okay, they’re grinding out results, but they’re getting overdrawn at the jammy bastards bank… I think it’s starting to look like Pool are going to be the 115 also-rans this year.

Wasn’t nailed on, but we’ve seen ’em given for less… guess it depends on the mood of the ref!

4th October 2024 at 7:51 am in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #215848And he had a beauty crash off the crossbar too… he really made a difference when he came on. Werner missed another 1-on-1 with the goalie… starting to feel sorry for that bugger… can’t hit a cows arse with a banjo at the moment.

4th October 2024 at 7:14 am in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #215846Sounds like a I missed a good game (for the neutral!), watched Rashford score the first and then went to bed…
Anyway, 2 wins from 2, so we only need 1 point from our remaining 6 games to guarantee a place in the knockouts… some firm called AZ up next… 🙂

3rd October 2024 at 7:52 pm in reply to: Champions League New Format and First Phase Matches #2158392-2 would have been fair but horrible conditions and a shite ref made that game a complete mess from start to finish….

Time will tell, cyber chum, and you’re not wrong about being a little bit open under Aussie Ardiles, but then again, the stats kinda spec for themselves… fewer goals than last year, given up fewer chances than last year… not for one second thinking we’re going to be top of the tree when it comes to goals conceded (depending which way up the tree is, of course!) but I think you’re opinion is a little bit excessive, cyber chum!
Last season, perhaps, but not so much this season (so far!)

CM… have to admit the money you’ve spunked on the players you’ve spunked it on is mindboggling… I can’t think of one of them who’s even been remotely close to worth it…

Here’s a theory and I’ll be putting my tin-hat on…
Perhaps YooUtd’s problem is simply the idea of the notion that they’re still the YooUtd from Fergie’s years, a communual suffering from delusions of granduer, the very basic principle that they’re still in the Top2 clubs in England and if they don’t win the title then they’ll finish 2nd…
They haven’t been close to being in the Top2 teams for a decade or so now, they’ve been overtaken by quite a few clubs, but somehow still expect to treated like royalty or something.
Long gone are the days when the worlds best players would be lining up to sign for YooUtd, rememeber the days when they used to poach everybody else players to stay top of the tree?? Long gone…
Sure, they are still a big club, sure, they’ve got a lot of money to burn, but their ego’s are writing checks their players can’t cash… and it doesn’t help having all their former players all over the media giving it all the “but we’re YooUtd” crap left right and center…
YooUtd have completely lost the “fear” they used to have, when teams would be worried to play against them, now everybody fancies their chances.

It is a fine line between blaming the manager and blaming the players…
Last week, Angie was getting some greif in the fish-wrappings, despite Spurs putting up some fairly decent numbers in all their games so far this season (except for the one that counts!)… just a matter of missing the chances we created which, at the end of the day, Angie can’t do from the touchline…
With ETH, it’s either “piss-poor” instructions or simply the players don’t care anymore.

What can I say?
Overall I think we deserved the 3 points over the course of the 90 minutes regardless, the red card was harsh to say the least, how/why/what is Werner doing on the pitch is beyond me, and after our first 6 six games which included 3 against other “Top6” clubs, we’ve a decent run of games…
Not the worst Sunday afternoon…
