You had one job, Toffeemen, one job…

I think the YooUtd job is too big for him, full stop. He looks like he’s feeling the pressure, and when a manager starts blaming bad luck on small margins while overlooking the failures of his own team (and all the good luck they’ve been getting!)… that’s not a receipe for success.
I hope he stay’s for a long time to be honest because, at best, he and the club will just be treading water.

I can’t believe they’ve spunked a billion and are seemingly allowed to spend more anyway…

Poncho’d got his work cut out for him… there seems to be a lot of players at teh Jammy Todgers who spent all their pocket money on a Youtube highlight reel and are now “retired” from competitive football…

Yeah, always think about the puppy when the Jammy Todgers are on the box… I wonder what he would be making of this season so far.
Anyway, missed the first half, looking at the stats it seems like the Todgers are all mouth and no trousers, again, plenty of possession and not doing much with it.
It’s a real weird one, billion pounds in 3 transfer windows like kids in a candy store… and already looks like getting Euro footy at any level is going to be an uphill struggle… looks like another mid-table finish again… of coure, a long way to go but they need to start showing something sooner than later.

Finished the Spud game… absolutely “deserved” the 3 points, Sheffield were wasting time from the get go and how their goalie managed not to get red-carded I do not know… got a yellow for a handball outside the box (which was “fair” as it didn’t deny a genuine goal-scoring opportunity) and then took about a minute for every free-kick/goal-kick for the next 60 plus minutes(except for the last 4 minutes when they were losing, he suddenly remembered how to run then!).
Got to say the ref had a mare, most of the “calls” seemed to go Sheffields way, but as Spuds were doing most of the “playing” that was expected, although he seemed to get a couple wrong in the other direction too…
As for the Spuds, looking forward to the next two games against the Goonies and Micky-Mousers, let’s see how far we may or may not have come… doubt either game is going to be 0-0 and can’t wait to see how this teams plays against teams that are going to leave a bit more space at the back…

The more I read about the Spuds game yesterday, the more I’m looking forward to the reply today on my box… it would seem Sheffield set their stall up early indeed and, among many other decisions in the first half, it was a travesty there were only 3 minutes extra time in the first half…
Got no problem with teams “parking the bus”, but I do have a problem with teams “parking the bus” and them complaining when some little toe-rag (probably from under the pier at Southend!) comes along and nicks your stereo… or your hub-caps!!
As for the other games, only saw bits here and there, YooUtd looked a bit devoid of ideas, Micky-Mousers still don’t look like the best of the rest, nobody is going to keep up with the Sportswashing Campaign, and if I didn’t support the Spuds, I think I would want to be a Brighton fan… 🙂

15th September 2023 at 6:35 am in reply to: Al-Bundy League: How a fool and his money are soon parted. #209447Mav, they can obviously change the rules within KSA, but I don’t see how that will help them grow into any sort of realistic competition to the major Euro leagues, or even south american leagues… and there’s no way they can compete in the CL for example without the entire “rule book” being torn up. Mentioned it earlier on here, the entire league in 2022 turned over roughly half of Ronaldo’s salary. And that was their own figures… the biggest club in the league turned over the equivalent of Haaland and KDB’s salary… that’s it.
And the quality of football is still pretty ropey, as I mentioned above, a very expensive sprinkling of star dust isn’t going to change that… it will take decades…
No, I maintain this is just a “fad” until the possibly get the WC in 2030 (or maybe 2034) and then that will be that… a lot of people will make a lot of money in the footballing world, players and managers etc.., but that will be that…
They might be able to make it the biggest league in the ME, but that will be that at the absolute maximum.

(Been enough times already, nothing else to see there, move along!)
At least we can totally agree on one thing, Nil, the Goonies are moronic… 🙂

I just think the whole “gambit” the Saudi’s are playing is an expensive waste of time… at best they might take over the US as the global #1 retirement league but that’s about it. In the meantime, they’re going to be taken to the cleaners by everybody, not that it’s a problem for them as they literally have money to burn, but like you say, the money “wasted” on football most certainly could be put to better use (and let’s be brutally honest here, that moral argument could be applied to the Premisership and every other league, it’s grown men kicking a ball about FFS, they most certainly do not need hundreds of thousands a week to do that, do they?)

The thing is, Alfie, if they weren’t breaking the rules becuase the rules didn’t exist, then why all the moving money around and paying people to pay poeple to pay ADSC? Why the “wierd” payments to Mancini (and others) for example? Seems a very complicated and convoluted way of not breaking any rules to me…

To be fair to Adders and the Abu Dhabi Sportswashing Campaign (great name for an indie band!), they never denied the emails were real, their very logical “so-we-must-be-innocent” defense was the simply notion that they were gained “illegally” (which they obviously were!) and therefore cannot be used in evidence in a court of law…. and without those emails, there is no case, therefore a not-guilty verdict needs to be “issued”, so sprinkle that with the aforementioned “logic”, not-guilty means innocent (as long as nobody ever refers to the emails!)…
