Interesting article in one of the rags about Southgate aiming for a 3-5-1-1 system but the “injuries” this weekend meant he couldn’t really try it as about 6 of his “penciled-in” players for this system pulled a sicky.

As for who goes, don’t understand why anybody even mentions Vardy one little bit, has a very average record in a system that’s built for him, and which is nothing like international football at all. Problem with Wilshire is basically his injury record (and I think if he keeps his upward curve, Dinksy Winksy will nab that spot anyway!)

My biggest concern is GK… Hart is looking very shaky at West Ham already this season, I reckon his confidence is going to be shot by summer…

Said it before, City NOT winning it this year will be a bigger shock than Leicester winning it the other year… I’ll even reckon we’ll be looking at a record “gap” between first and second this year. The only bet worth having is “How many games to go win they win it?” I reckon 6….

Dunno if I would agree to that Mikus, be it Engerland or Spuds, I’m an optimistic chap and fully believe my team is going to win when I sit down in front of the telly with a pot of tea and a bag of Monster Munch (Pickled Onion Flavor)….when the games actually count for something. These “friendlies” are just glorified training sessions poorly disguised as cash cows.

Although I do agree Southgate has the charisma of a smoked haddock. 🙂

Reckon we’re gonna have to agree to disagree on this one Goldie! Have a couple of kick-abouts in the weeks leading up to the Finals, sure, that makes sense, but now? Nothing to gain, mate. How many bums likely to be in the plane have already pulled out? What’s the point in calling up players like Cork, who are highly unlikely to go to Russia next year?

Sorry cyber chum, it’s all about filling the FA coffers and nothing else (note the request from Nike to play in the away kit so they can sell some more!). I just hope the boys, from all clubs, come home without any injuries. Won’t be watching (unless I really have absolutely nothing else to do which is highly unlikely), and won’t pass more than a glance to any reports from the games. They can have my full attention/support when it actually matters.

It’s a pity it’s not the Leicester side from 2 years back, this would be a bloody great match up if they still had Kante and Drinkwater in the middle of the pitch. As is, you lot will walk it, no problem, just too much fire-power up top.

I agree Big J, but I’m also thinking who else would take a contract to the end of the season? No-brainer from Moyes’s angle, if they stay up he’s reputation gets a wee boost, they go down he can point his fingers at the players who seemingly have a somewhat questionable attitude.

I mean, if they played every game the way they’ve played the two against my Spuds this season, they would absolutely be top half of the table now.

Big J… considering there are approx. 35,000 gun related deaths per year in the US, I would say the number of gun deaths that would be deemed acceptable is an irrelevant question as nobody really gives a shit.

Just out of curiosity, I googled “Value of Gun Industry in US”, apparently it’s worth about 15 billion a year… I actually thought it would be more to be honest, although still a fair chunk of change.

Mikus… an interesting and well thought out post, has to be said, but I have to disagree somewhat. Although understanding the reasons as to why the person or persons feel the need is one thing, and not entirely a bad idea, but surely making it virtually impossible to persons to get their hand on these weapons is a good start, rather than debating if a person is mentally stable or not after you’ve given them an Uzi?

There is absolutely no reason other than to stroke ones own ego that these weapons are needed by Joe Public. No reason what so ever.

But I do agree, if an asshat is going to be an asshat, they’ll find a way. I just don’t understand why the US makes it far easier than it needs to be. You mention the recent (and disgusting) acid attacks, can you imagine the chaos if you could by an AK-47 at Tesco’s? Because that it basically America.
