I know we all ike to bash the refs in Blighty, and there have been numerous comments on here about the refs being better abroad… didn’t see Pool’s game last night (I was watching paint dry… 🙂 ), but both the refs in the Spuds games were bloody awful too…
Of course, I also players from aborad (along with my Spuds boyz) doing all the usual feigning injury and screaming with every tackle and appealing for every throw-in… basically putting the refs under more pressure than they really need… I guess it all comes down to the pressure to “win” a game by fair means or foul…
Or European refs are just as shite as Engerland refs… 🙂

More mid-week European games… arguably Barca vs Sausage Munchers being the pick of the bunch… unfortunately, noboby is in any danger at all of being knocked out, so expect all teams to be playing slightly weaker than usual sides and rotating a bit…
Watch something if it’s on, but I won’t be making plans specifically…

Maybe change the rule to something like nobody allowed in the 6 yard box until the corner is taken or something… would certainly put a stop to it and would still allow players to “run-in” while the ball is in the air…

As already mentioned, it’s all about consistancy with those calls… I’ve seen an awful lot worse happen at corners not given, so if they gave it for that, I’d be bloody annoyed…

On a seperate note, glad to hear Danny Wellbeck’s broken back, an incident which occurred in the 84th minute while his team were defending a 1-0 nil lead away from home and which took 7 minutes for the medics to carry him off the pitch has miracously been cured and he should be fit to play next weekend…

You’re 100% spot on when you say consistancy is the key here…. personally it’s a contact sport, and whatnot etc… and giving off-sides etc.. for what Wee Bernard was doing is basically diluting the game into a wierd version of hopscotch… I’ve seen an awful lot worse not given, and I don’t think today’s should have been given… I just hope refs don’t start blowing for every “minor” infraction… every game would take two hours to play and finish 0-0…

Just noticed to Goonies are playing the Micky Mousers next weekend… lose that one and they’ll certainly be out the title race…

I’ve seen the Goonies, 2 and a bit times this season, losing to the 115, where they were 2nd best before they went down to 10, their win over us Spuds, when they were 2nd best in just about every aspect of the game except the one that counts, and the last 10 minutes here, were they basically lost… nobody wins the League in October, but you can lose it, and I reckon they’ve already lost it… down to the 115 and the Micky Mousers now…
