Goodbye Eric… an often maligned player who isn’t as bad as people like to make out (I’m sure most of it is because he’s surname is Dier and it’s not a “hard” joke to make).

At least he’ll end up with a couple of medals to show for it, no doubt.

Beast of a player, Waspy, no surprise him getting injured started that bad run, missed him more than Madders.

Anyway, wierd half at the Lane, huffed and puffed, Burnley had the best chance of the half, fluffed it, and spent most of it kicking Le Celso… he must have been hacked about 8 times that half, surprised he can still walk.

We all want more consistancy, for sure, but unless you make the rules black and white, we’re never going to get it…

Handball: Unless the rule is black and white, i.e. it touches any part of the arm it’s given, full stop, with no coinsideration to how the ball got there, then it comes down to an “opinion” whether it was ball to hand, hand to ball, accidental or deliberate… and how do you make those “black and white”? Simple, you can’t.

The same with fouls… unless you make it black and white, i.e. contact equals foul, your back to the “opinion” of was there enough contact to make it a foul? How can anybody judge this under black and white terms? (Especially when there’s different “gravity” on certain areas of the pitch! 🙂 )

Personally, having played a lot of rugby and ice-hockey over the years, games where putting somebody on the seat of their pants is actually a large part of the game, I find it hilarious when “ballers” all fall over with the merest of touches… using Jota purely as an example (we all have players who do it!), there is no way in hell there was enough contact for him to go down if he didn’t really want to. But, like players from all teams, he choose to.

Never said there wasn’t contact, I’m saying Jota made a three course dinner out of it. Never have agreed with this opinion others may have that any contact = 100% peno… Jota could have very, very easily stayed on his feet but suddenly remembered where he was and decided not to…

But vaguely seriously, I wonder who’s going to blink first between YooUtd and Bone Saws? You would fancy both of them to want new managers sooner than later with the way both teams are going… and with the exception of Conte, what other “top draw” managers are there? I really can’t see either club going for Potter… or are they going to try and poach somebody’s existing manager? Se Zebri at Brighton perhaps?
