You are right in that sense. I can see your point here. We never replaced Frank Lampard 3 years after he left the club. But that is easier said than done. Lampard was rare breed of midfield who could burst in to the box and score out of nowhere. And i don’t think those kind of midfielders are available today. Instead i was looking like we increase goals from out wide.

I think according to the reports. That Carrasco and Simone relationship is and was strained for months now. And Simone wants to get rid of him in order to create funds for the summer spending. And Conte wants to exploit that and bring him to Chelsea. Also Chelsea has an excellent relationship with Athletico. If you add all these dots you will find that a deal is not out of the equation. Although i’m not counting my chicks already. But i can now see the club is taking this City storm seriously ?.

Like you i’m not counting my chicks yet. But it looks like an exciting January transfer window for Chelsea if the reports are to ve believed. Like you i’m not a fan of the January window. And our record in that month is always not good. Although we sigbed both Matic and Cahill in that month. But Cuarado and Torres is still fresh from my mind. Anyway getting Carrasco is unbeleivable for me. It may lift our attacking midfielders also.

I would take him with my eyes closed. we need attacking midfielders from wide area who can score from wide areas. City has that with Sterling and Sane. but we don’t have. if we can sign him in January then he will boost our chances in the race for top 2 finish.

Chelsea are being linked with a number of attacking midfielders. one of them is Carrasco from Athletico Madrid. i think that is one good option that we can do with January. he can score as well as create plus he can dribble past players. imagine him and and Hazard supporting Morata? he will take alot of pressure of Hazard. another attacking midfielder that we are being linked is Thomas Lemar from Monaco. well i have to say its difficult to pull this one off. but one trick we can use to do the deal with them and loan him back to Monaco for the remainder of the season and get him in the summer. but that said, extending the contracts of Hazard and Courtois plus coming to some sort of agreement with Conte will also be a very good boost. plus getting Sandro to be an upgrade to Alonso defensively also allows us to play in back four. if we get all those deals done. we can once again look to get Fabregas like midfielder, preferably Isco. our central defence is very much sorted.

26th December 2017 at 6:48 pm in reply to: Christmas and New year fixtures up until 4th Jan (Including Predictions) #9997That is the third cleansheet in a row for Chelsea. Its more like our old self when you see cleansheets coming in consuctive weeks. We missed Morata at weekend. But thank God he was back. Hazard despite his brilliance sometimes frustrates me with the things he ties to do.

26th December 2017 at 7:45 am in reply to: Top 5 most entertaining teams to watch in the PL era #9920I think you will have to add a few teams. the Invincibles, Mourinho’s first Chelsea team in 2004/05, United team of 2007/08, the Liverpool team of 2008/09, the City team of 2013/14. all of those teams were a joy to watch for me.

It will be foolish to underestimate the impact that Mourinho can have once he gets everything that he wants. and i totally share the opinion with 999 that Mourinho won’t walkout United without winning the league for them. because he will be seen as failure which makes his negotiations with PSG even weaker. the man knew that following Six Alex footsteps immediately after he retires would be impossible for any manager. he has to rebuild his reputation at Chelsea before taking that United challenge. and he was right as both Fergie’s immediate successors have failed miserably. i don’t know if he has engineered his sacking at Chelsea to take that United job or not. but by the time he has arrived at United he was seen as a savior. this season is his second season. and Mourinho tends to win the league in his second season. apart from his first stint at Chelsea. he tends to go for it in is second season. its strange but also that may be part to the fact that City and Pep bought well early and hit the ground running. City was a better team when Pep took over than United when Mourinho took over. so you have to understand the task that was waiting. and he is rebuilding. United have a very good defender in Bailey, defensive midfielder in Matic, and a good striker in Lukaku. he needs to get a Lampard type attacking midfielder. plus proper fullbacks. its incredible if people are writting him off too early. be cautious. so many jumped to the bandwagon and have written Guardiola off last season, but he has had the last laugh though.

Sean the sailor
I see your point here in relation to the full backs not being a title challenging standard. with Moreno i think his best position is wing back rather than an out and out full back like he is used at Liverpool. but the other lad, Robertson. i have seen a lot of potential in him. and in 2-3 seasons he will be one of the best full backs once he settles and gets used to playing for a club who is challenging for honors. you may need a right back, but nowadays its easier said than done. its difficult to get a premier league winning standard in those departments. and the ones that are there are already playing for top teams. for instance City has to pay more to get Walker from Spurs. and United will likely pay more to get Rose.
Other than that, yes VVD is a good CB but the system that Klopp uses doesn’t encourage players to defend. and he has to understand that without deploying an out and out defensive midfielder, your back four will always be exposed. also the Liverpool fullbacks always go higher up the pitch even when they are defending a lead. but i still think Liverpool need 2-3 players to win the league. and that also applies to the rest of the chasing pack. this season City are the league of their own. Liverpool’s attack are either joint best or the second best. they are deadly front four. Liverpool is heading in the right direction. and i won’t be surprised if they win the league in 2-3 years time.

I think you will find that Lovren was highly rated 3 years ago similarly like VVD is rated. and a few Liverpool friends on mine were overjoyed when he signed for Liverpool. but what people don’t take in to account is the fact that without protection even the best of all defenders will struggle. he had Wanyama in front of him. and look at how defensive midfielder’s protection covers defenders flaws. compare the Otamendi of last season and the one of this season? compare the Cahill of two seasons ago and the one that has been playing in the last two years? look at Smalling and Jones and how Matic has made them better by protecting them. even if Van Dijk joins Liverpool under the current set up and Henderson who i feel isn’t a defensive midfielder but more like a box to box is told to protect. then that defender is bound to struggle. bringing back Keita is only one part of the solution. also a change of attitude in Klopp’s part is also required. like how you approach games when you are 2-3 goals up.

I think Liverpool will score goals every time assuming that there is no catastrophic decisions or silly tackles which may lead to a red card given. but part of the defensive problem is that Liverpool have no out and out defensive midfielder. which others have. look at City Fernandinho sits there and protects the back four, United they have Matic who does do similar job, Chelsea have Kante who does similar job, Spurs have Wanyama who does similar. Arsenal and Liverpool have got no one who sits and protects their back four. Liverpool’s defence will improve if they find Alonso or Mascherano like defensive midfielder.

All the chasing pack have their issues. United and Chelsea do not score enough goals, Liverpool have defensive issues. Spurs have injury concerns. so these are the areas that teams have to focus to stay in touch with City next season. United and Chelsea, have to build a strike force since their defence isn’t that bad. Arsenal and Liverpool have to build their defence since their forward-line is good. Spurs need to buy more players to keep rotating. hoping that we put better fight next season.

I doubt if Mourinho will walkout United without wining the league and get one better over Guardiola. and knowing the man’s ego during his time at Chelsea. he will only consider walking out when he wins the league. also i haven’t seen anything to suggest that he is unhappy at United. this is purely media speculation. or even could be Mourinho agent trying to engineer a pay rise for his client. but from what i have seen, Mourinho is fully content at United.

United was the better team clearly and could have the game dead and burried. But somehow they didn’take their chances. And they were punished for their sloppiness in the end.

Clearly i have to agree with Wise-fan. We need another striker when Morata isn’t available. Hazard as a false 9 don’t work with teams that play physical. The only way to break Everton today was to put long crosses in to the box for a striker to attack. And we never had a presence in the box. Also i was disappointed with Zapacosta whose cross was woeful today.

I think you will find that City and Guardiola are the best in the league. And their lead and goals is evidence. So let us not try to knock them because we don’t like. Every City player have improved 300% this season than they were last season. And credit to them for the way they are playing. I won’t be surprised if they have 100+ points by the end of the season. But next season. I think both United and Chelsea need to improve their forward line. Liverpool need to improve defensively. And Spurs need to keep hold of their players. Arsene ima: 10 pts
Liverpool are by far the best team on the night. And can you imagine they are the away team? I had to check twice to make sure that Arsenal are at home. I donβt know why he has picked Iwobi ahead of Walcot when you are looking for to match the pace of Liverpool. Iwobi is slowing down Arsenal attacks. always unpredictable. Next season could very tough._____________________________

Very harsh on United. But they have themselves to blame. They could have the game wrapped up early. And when you don’t take your chances. Expect the worst to happen.

Wise-fan, what can i say? I have a mixed reaction. Personally i always welcome football fans from everywhere. And more so when they share blue color of Chelsea. Let us drop the confrontational style of posting. And as you may know that may have contributed part of my absence in the teamtalk site. I’m looking forward to hear from you more about the football related things. Anyway welcome and feel free. But respect for one another should be our core value.

I have not seen anywhere in the reports that PSG is/was interested on Van Dijk. but if they are true and PSG wants him. i can understand where they are coming from. he is a very good defender, plus he is not cup tied in the Champions.

3-3 and a Cech error there. Did Mane try to dive and win a Penalty there?
