Nine
Not only those players had been key players last season. They are also their core players this season. There is no denying that Guardiola got better players to start with, and then thought of evolution, whilst Mourinho was expected to carry out a revolution. But take nothing away from Guardiola he is a world class manager there is no doubt about that. But people forgot that Mourinho had won the league with every team he has managed except United. Isn’t that an incredible feat?
Let people not get excuses that his team are poor this season to have a go at him. He is a world class manager but with poor atttitude. So if you separete Mourinho the coach from Mourinho the individual. And you realise what he has achieved. And winning the champions league with two unfancied teams should also count. He is only one of a few elite coaches who have won the champions league with two different teams. He may be down now but he is a wounded lion be careful.

Nine, Kompany, KDB, Fernandinho, Sterling, D. Silva, S. Aguero, Otamendi. That is core of players that Guardiola has inherited. And amazingly Nine, all but Kompany and Otamendi are the key players that drive City today. On the other hand the only notable player that Mourinho has inherited from LVG is Martial and may be Rashord( with potential). The rest were deadwood. He has to start rebuilding from scratch. Obviosly this has been his toughest job and that is why he is miles off the pace. Klopp has 4 seasons uninterrepted. While the Media targets Mourinho,at a times rightfully and at a times unfairly. If Klopp can’t win anything this season. Pressure will be on him.
@Adlab, i haven’t seen any manager in the league play bravely and take the game to City. Even Liverpool seems to look for the counter. It will be interesting to see how Mourinho approaches the game in two weeks time. And he is at home. Will he play safe or will he take the game to City? He has players who can hurt City if deployed correctly._____________________________

Ed, i can’t see Real Madrid getting that stupid and appointing Martinez. Remember Lopetegui was the manager if the wonderful Spanish team. But when he went to Real Madrid we have seen the true version of him.

I would say Mourinho has been better defensively until this season. And the reason is that Mourinho hasn’t got a settled defensive patnership. While Guardiola has that. The squad at City is far superior to the squad at United. All of the CBs at United are very poor they are not a United standard. Once Mourinho gets the ingredients that he needs, his defence will improve. Also his fullbacks are not that great. Another factor is that teams are scared of City. They don’t attack the same way they do with United.

Interesting that Guardiola says City aren’t title contenders like Liverpool and Chelsea and had to improve. Improve where? If Guardiola feels that City are not contenders, i really need a piece of what he is smoking. The title is City’s to lose.

I can’t see them getting Pochettino and Klopp. Both Mourinho and Conte are similar coaches both in tactics and character. Which begs the question why would they go for Mourinho in which case United will demand compensation. And Conte is free to join them. Joachim Low is a big risk based on his performances in Germany recently. Can’t see them going for Benitez on current form. And they had Carlo Ancelotti before and he seems to be happy at Napoli as he is trying to rebuild his reputation. The only viable option for me is Didier Deschamps or Laurent Blanc. And
Laurent Blanc in particular as he has done it with PSG. I’m glad Nine That Sarri isn’t included in to that list?._____________________________

The right decision IMO Nine. He has been awful. Conte is favourite which makes the Hazard to Real less likely but Kante to Real more likely.

Just lookin forward to Spurs win as i go to bed now. My misus is so tough that he won’t let me watch this, but i fancy Spurs even though i hate them with passion. I had already placed a £20 bet with Spurs. I’m due for big win may be who knows? And seeing the Spurs lads here being pesemistic about their team. May be i’m the only Spurs fan who is optimistic here.

How good is Ross Barkley? I remember when he joined Chelsea most were writting him off even before he has kicked a ball. And here we are with 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 3 PL games. And on top of that had a wonderful game with England. Amazingly he only costs £15m. He is on course to reach double figures in goals.
Meanwhile i was delighted to see Morata score early. Also RLC came on and did fantastic. I was reading that some so called pundits were advising him to ditch Chelsea. I think he should learn from Barkley. Because Barkley has put down his head and worked hard. And you can see he is reaping the rewards. Also pleased for Willian who i’m a massive fan. He has scored, but was awful in diving. He should have stayed on his feet. Very sorry for Pedro, just returned from injury and another injury at a time when competition is fierce in the team? Not good for him. But he is not one who complains always. Also happy for Fabregas, i feel he will have a massive part to play in our season.

Well if Barkley can play like he did tonight every match. He will definitely be some player. I never thought i would say this. But Sarri has to take that credit. Totally rebuilt Barkley from scratch. The more games he plays the better he gets. Otherwise congratulations to the English fans here. You just have to ask what might have been had England played every match like that.

Who was that Chelsea keeper that has made those fantastic saves today? Well i thought he was Degea in disguise?. And Barkley? I have to say it was a fairy tale story. He has been man of the match. A goal and an assist on the back of his England call up is the perfect gift one would wish to have. And at £15m is a bargain. A lot has been said about him, but he does his football do the talking.
I have to say that i wasn’t comfortable with the chances we had conceded. And i’m sure Sarri is working around the clock to fix. Delighted to see Morata score another goal. My prayers were answered. If ever there were two players i wanted to score. It was Barkley and Morata. And they had scored. Blue is the sky next who?

Is it a coincidence that Real Madrid have failed to score four matches in a row? And right now Hazard is in the form of his life with 7 goals out of 9 matches? I’m probably nervous about this latest development. I hope we have contigent plan in place for every scenario.
Mourinho’s hasn’t lost his coaching ability but still seems distracted by factors that are outside his control. If he focuses his football, there aren’t that much better coaches. It was his subs that has affected the game. While the same couldn’t be said about Rafa who is a great coach but working under an owner who is allergic to investment. Spurs seem to be limping but more importantly getting the result. What a goal by that Leicester player! Shame they lost the match. Bournemouth will be lucky to keep Eddie Howe for another season in my opinion. He is one of the best coaches in the league at the moment without the budget of that some of his competitors he is competing.
Happy for Huddersfield as they finally got a point. Who knows if this will click their season. Everton under Marco Silva is finally moving in the right direction._____________________________

Can’t see PSG going anywhere near this trophy with that defence. Spurs had themselves to blame after dominating that much. I still feel if any English team will lift this CL. It will be City. They have a squad capable of handling both competitions. Liverpool has a good 11 but their overall squad is not strong. They will do well if they focus on the league this season. Pochetino is under pressure. Surprised that fans are taking about replacing him so early. United? I can’t see them past the quarters at best.

Brilliant from Hazard and Giroud. i have to say Willian has responded well with being benched today. if Hazard can score 30 this season, Pedro can go closer to 20 and Willian can get 15. we can be fine. that is what Liverpool does and it serves them well. otherwise it has been long since i last posted here. and alot has changed since then. very happy to back among the footy community.

Very disappointed with the outcome tonight. Real used dirty tactics. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a team tactic to take Salah off the game. These Spanish teams would play all kind of dirty tactics and still get away with it. What might had been had Salah stayed? Bale was class. Once again this game have proven the gulf in quality between the two teams. once Liverpool lost Salah, they had not been the same team. While Real could bring Bale from the bench and he has won the game for them. Although the Liverpool keeper played his part in the two howlers. Without that. The game would be even. Whatever the outcome Liverpool had a fatastic season. Ignore the wind up merchants. I salute you guys?. You will have another chance next season.

I hope you lift the trophy tonight. it’s a difficult match. but Liverpool has what it takes to overcome Real. and the fact that you are not the favourites will work in your favour like it did against City. keeping it tight in the first 45 minutes will be crucial. and the pace of your attack will trouble Ramos. Liverpool has their work cut, Marcelo will give loads of space when he goes forward attack. that is where to exploit. and I’m sure Klopp have a plan for that.
