I’d 1000% keep Ten Hag over bringing in Southgate Paul. He’s decent enough for England but club football is entirely different. Potter I’d be open to giving a chance to but that wouldn’t excite me, to be honest.

I do often wonder how successful Liverpool would have been without that structure around Klopp. Considering he supposedly didn’t want Salah or Alisson but was overruled, would they have still got that league title? I’m not convinced. That has been one of the problems for Ten Hag at Utd. There’s been nobody there to say no to the likes of Antony. Recruitment is a huge factor in terms of determining a manager’s success. The next Liverpool manager is fortunate to come into a well oiled machine in that regard and Utd are fortunately also building a solid structure there too which, imo, is more critical than whoever comes in as the next head coach.

The only reason Southgate’s name is mentioned is because Dave Brailsford is close to him. Look at Slot at Liverpool. He wasn’t the favourite for the role at Liverpool until the media got wind of the news. I expect much the same at Utd. They have no idea who will replace Ten Hag, much like they had no idea about Berrada coming in until it was announced.
Though I can understand you’d be delighted if he did come in 😁.

Brighton have fallen away a lot recently so I’d be concerned about going for De Zerbi now, who was my first choice until recently. I’d be tempted to go for someone like Motta at Bologna.

It won’t be Southgate, that’s for sure. No reliable source is reporting there’s anything in that whatsoever.
Tuchel would be a big no from me. How do you get the players onside after coming in from the shame of not winning the Bundesliga after Bayern had won 11 in a row?
Very few options out there.

Yeah completely agree with that Mikus @10:27PM

Give it a rest Nil. Absolutely nothing to comment about my own team tonight. We’ve nothing to play for and won after another average performance. Liverpool are (were) in a title fight and the only side playing for anything of note tonight

It’s just so poor Sean. Liverpool absolutely miles off Arsenal. Much more than the 3 points would suggest. I think Klopp’s probably chosen a good time to go. If there were a few more games left, I’d fancy Villa to catch you but there’s probably not enough time now

Odegaard player of the season for me. Been brilliant tonight.

Probably right on all points Sean 😁. Crazy how much money Chelsea have wasted and they still look so many players short of a top side.

Not sure what happened there Mikus. Only just. Spotted your post and deleted the duplicate.
Yeah good points. I’d be quite underwhelmed if he was coming to Utd but I’m sure Liverpool have done their homework on him. It’d be a big, big gamble bringing someone from the Dutch league who’s only ever played and managed there and hasn’t won a great deal.

Looking increasingly like Arne Slot. Not sure a single Liverpool fan had him on their list of hopeful appointments. Quite an underwhelming choice I’d imagine. Thoughts Liverpool fans?

Wasn’t that period of 6 home defeats Mikus when all those defenders were injured also?
Palmer has been an absolute revelation this season. I feel you can’t give Chelsea much credit for that one because they’ve signed so many players for crazy amounts of money that there was always bound to be some success within all that, just on the balance of probability. He’s surely the signing of the season though.

Congratulations City on another league title! You can always count on Arsenal to bottle a title race 😄

I’d usually say you’re being overly pessimistic Sean but you’re probably right that you’ve little chance of catching the others now, so tight are the margins. All you can do now is get the right person in to replace Klopp and reset.

Yeah you just can’t afford to lose games like that Sean in the run in. No excuses as you say. Pretty much a full strength team out too. Letting City go 2 points ahead at this stage is as good as conceding that it’s over. Is there a chance Klopp changes his mind and has another season? He’ll not want it to end like this, surely?

Yeah I’m not having the injuries excuse Sean. I get there are some good arguments there around the style of play and him maybe not having the CBs available to play the way he wants but I’ve always maintained that if the CBs are THAT important to his style, then he should have prioritised those positions when buying players.
Yeah Alfie, no way we’d buy Isak but I’d definitely take him given the chance.

Isak with goals again, what do people think of him? He always seemed to ke to be a little light weight but maybe has started to bulk out a little. If he avoids injuries better he could turn out to be top level. Thought at the time we should have gone for him rather than Nunez.
If Newcastle need to sell top assests for P+S reasons then he could make a switch tononenof the top clubs this season.
I really like Isak Threeps. With all this talk from Keane and Carra etc lately about Haaland’s all round game not being up to it despite his excellent goalscoring abilities, I’d say Isak is the better all round forward. I think he’d actually be better for City than Haaland is to be honest. I really rate him.

Yeah that’s it Sean. I get that others want him to stay. We weren’t like this last season in terms of conceding so many chances. It’s bizarre, as you say. I don’t think the players have given up playing for him, which shows they have character. I just think he’s getting it all wrong and, as you say is not learning from his mistakes. His post match comments are almost as bizarre as his tactics

Every team look like they’ll score when they attack us Sean. It’s been like that for ages. No idea how we’re still in this but it’s looking increasingly likely that Ten Hag will be gone this summer. Spurs and Villa aren’t great at all but nobody is capitalising on their mistakes.
