10 in 10 for Rashford. He’s on fire at the moment. Right now, at this very moment in time, I’d argue there isn’t a more dangerous player in world football running at defenders. Now, if he can maintain anything like this over the course of a season he’ll be a huge asset for Utd. Hopefully he’ll sign a contract but my suspicion is still that he’ll end up at PSG.

Fair enough Lucky. I thought you were suggesting Lampard was responsible for them staying up.

A new manager may just manage to keep them up, like lamps did last year to be fair by skin of their teeth
Lucky, Rafa left them 6 points clear of relegation and with 2 games in hand. Lampard finished the season 4 points clear. It’s a bit of a stretch to suggest they stayed up because of him.

There’s half a season left and Everton are 2 points from safety. Don’t underestimate what kind of lift a good (and crucially a new) manager can have. There’s every chance Everton can get out of this. Look at what Villa have done since getting a good manager in. I think you’re giving Lampard far too much credit by suggesting that nobody can do any better. He’s one of the worst managers in their history by win %.

Surprised it’s taken this long. Simply not cut out for management at this level

22nd January 2023 at 8:17 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 21 – All Good Games :-) #203229Congrats Steve. Better team won. Utd have come on leaps and bounds under Ten Hag but it was clear today we were watching a manager 3 years into his reign vs one half a season in. A spirited display from us but just not quite enough quality wise. De Gea’s distribution and lack of ability on the ball is always going to prevent us having the kind of control Ten Hag craves. Diogo Costa or someone similar should be the number one target this summer.

19th January 2023 at 9:23 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 20 – Manchester and London Derby #203076After Marcus βOh no he isnβtβ Rashford last Saturday, I wouldnβt be complaining too muchβ¦
Chucky, but then shouldn’t the same apply regarding the outcry regarding the Rashford decision?! We’ve had lots of decisions go against us this season before that so then nobody should be talking about that offside call, right? Thought not! π No, fully aware now a decision which goes against us will never create the kind of outcry a decision which goes for us as seen this last week.
Should City fans not moan about the Rashford offside then because of the awful De Bruyne dive against Fulham that they were somehow given? It doesn’t really work like that does it?

18th January 2023 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 20 – Manchester and London Derby #203068Yeah they’ve offered very little going forward, that’s for sure. De Gea with a world class save first half though. Apart from that, they’ve done nothing

Spot on Nine.
We’ll see Chucky. I’m not sure exactly what point you’re making? Is it that he’s just bidding for publicity? As I say, he (Ineos) have a number of sport investments so it can’t be all that surprising. From what I’ve read, he’s quite a shy individual so I’m not sure why he’d want the publicity just for publicity’s sake.
I think we’re in agreement that he probably won’t win the race but, unlike you, I think his interest is genuine. Maybe I’m naive but I’m not sure what a multi billionaire has to gain from a bit of publicity.

I mean, him and Ineos have a number of sports investments. That together with the fact he’s a boyhood Utd fan means it’s not that much of a stretch of the imagination to think he’s actually interested. It would be odd if he wasn’t. Whether or not he can afford the club is another matter entirely.

For what it’s worth, I think he’ll be priced out by the competition in the end. We’ll end up with either an American or a Middle Eastern ownership group most likely.

Wait, you want the Qataris now Chucky? π
Isn’t the multi club ownership something to do with having competing clubs in Europe or something? How do the RB group get around it?
Also, are you again suggesting he can’t be a fan because he’s not prepared to overpay? I’m a Utd fan but I wouldn’t overpay for a match ticket. He’s not stupid enough to let his emotions get in the way of his business acumen.

Spot on Nine. It won’t matter how good a fit or how popular a potential owner is. All that will matter is who can stump up the most cash.
